Transformers Legends are the Takara exclusive versions of figures, they're usually more premium and screen accurate repaints but that comes with the Japanese exclusive tax so don't expect reasonable prices for them.

Just got these two in the mail, love them but there are issues with Skullcruncher.

Since I already had and solf that Netflix Megatron I'm familiar with G2 Megs mold, and hes pretty awesome and in a cool color scheme.

Skullcruncher though... he looks great if somewhat hollow (which I understsnd is necessary in most of the places) but hes got these tiny toes thst make him hard to keep standing. He also doesnt feel right. The plastic feels weak and thin- maybe I'm just spoiled hy the two Legacy figures I bought recently though. Hes got some parts that just want to pop off too. The gatorclaws for one, and his Headmasters legs too. The toes also arent on very well.

But the worst part by far... his headmaster back-door. Its fucking rubber. RUBBER. Now I dont care about the paint wearing off or whatever since I got him for $20, though that could be avoided woth a plastic door. Its the fact that the door doesnt sit great meaning its easy to push too far in causing you to have to bend it out sometimes to open it. For that alone I may have to keep him in Robot mode.

He does look really cool though and I like how the peg on his tail with the gun attachment looks like a scope, I like 2 handed weapons even if I'm forcing it just a little here. He won't stay Skullcruncher for too long though...

I have Drac and let me tell you, hes really fun. The cape adds more than I thought it would and the box is a nice touch if you care about that sort of thing. Plus the cspe serves to hide Mindwipes awkward alt mode "tail" made of his two guns. The head skulpt is also awesome.

Yeah i mentioned the same thing, just a highlight of brown or green would go a long way, swords not really bendy at all, you can get an extremely slight curve out of it but its a solid piece, not rubbery shit

He’s great, my only complaint is a consistent complaint I’ve had across the line which is that at times it feels the engineering is outpacing the budget per figure leading to some parts that should be pinned being just plastic clips

Man, I love how G2 Jazz looks, but that clear plastic is garbage. Right out of the box, it already had two small hairline cracks. Ended up foing minor shaving arounf the areas where there clear plastic connects to the torso, but it still feels uncomfortable to untab when going back to robot mode.

Dracs pretty small. Skullcruncher idk if hes Generations or whatever, hes the "retro headmaster" one. I chose him specifically because his purple.coloring will, I think, match best with the eventual Megaligator head I'm getting.

NTA, it's an official redeco and his head screws apart, the eyes on TFs are almost always on stems connected to the back of the head so that the the painting doesn't have to be so precise.

Why the fuck did Hasbro choose pinned shoulders for Magnus? His arms are way too fucking heavy to be held up by them.

At this point I’m praying someone makes an upgrade kit with outwards shoulder ratchets because this is one of the most annoying cases of floppy limbs I’ve had with a transformer

Wait, they're pinned? All the talk I've been hearing is people saying he's loaded with ratchets, so it's a pretty dumb decision to just pin those.

I'm actually a fan of his aburdly wide shoulder proportions, I think it gives him some character. I just hate how the red tabs holding it all together look, and the fact that his head seems like it's sunken into his chest in almost every head-on picture of the guy. They really couldn't give him like a centimeter's worth of neck?

These, along with all the other imperfections, really just seem like they left them on purpose so the toy wouldn't be perfect. Otherwise, why would anyone buy the next one in a few years?

Everything about the figure is near perfect but the shoulders being pinned is horrible because it means his outward movement is impossible due to how heavy his arms are. The neck is weird but the shoulders are eve worse than motormaster, because at least you can sand them down to fix them. Here you’ve fuck out of luck

They are pinned towards the T pose arm movement and ratcheted for the forward and backward

I doubt it is the issue of trying to not making it perfect but rather the transformation- you have split the shoulder pads to make the pillars- so you don't have the normal outward joints like most figure. Even CW UM doesn't trandform like that

You should able to resolve the issue by hard coats of varnish I think

Gorillion hours in MS Pain but it won't happen as other anons have mentioned before. This time I was almost surprised that they skipped him after suddenly putting out toys of multiple pre-war comic robots. The logical next bot after the two senators and miner Megs should have been him but we got Nova Prime instead. I like Nova, but it felt weird replacing Sentinel with him since he wasn't the big bad of that arc. Remember that the toy dude revealed that he was interested making a Pharma toy sooner or later. Also nice, but it sounds like some anti-Sentinel conspiracy to me.

Rescue Bots Chase and BWII Tasmania Kid, big maybe on the core SL Galvatron because I really love Super Link, but don't typically go for Core/Legends/etc. Glad the new TFA Optimus looks okay, but I still think my childhood voyager looks better (new one has like, no waist) so I'm sticking with him.
Other than that, nobody stands out to me. Good thing ig, because I'm excited for Magmatron and Tidal Wave, which means I'm gonna have to save up money for my first Titan figure...

So in addition to G2 Megatron and Skullcruncher my Skytread finally arrived today! Along with 3 other Transformers I'll be selling...

I didnt get a chance for a pic, but I love how his guns become a rifle and how he can hold both both handles. I really like bots who get 2 handed weapons. The back of the tank won't quite pop fully shut in the alt-modes but I can live with it. Overall hes really cool. I wish I had a blast effect for Skytread to snipe one of my autobots... so... poor tiny Optimus Prime. The autobots habent gotten home yet. Minus Chromia ajd Ironworks, but they are locked up in their boxes and shall soon be sold.

The red is too dull, the rest of the waist is unpainted, he's completely missing the lighter blue and orange and for some retarded reason he's a terrible flat grey instead of his nice fossilized looking sandy tan. So yesterday I bought Metalhawk. I ordered Bludgeon recently and wanted to pick him up to pair with, he's been flooding my local store for months now and I kept passing on him but I told myself if they haven't stocked wave 4 yet I'd pick him up. They had even more of wave 3 instead so I picked him up, and he's pretty good! Goofy jetmode but a solid transformation from Cyclonus and fun, solid accessories. Does make me wish Skullgrin was bigger, but hey, the inverted connection point on his back coupled with his size makes him an alright Weaponizer, so that's fun.

Let me tell you, I'm a huge G2 simp and I think Galvatron is still my favorite between he and G2 Combat Megs. He feels really good kn the hand and his transformation is complex enough without being too much or too little. Cannon mode looks very imposing, worthy of blowing Starscream into pieces. You won't rsgret it. Does Skullgrin's feel and playability make up for thst lacking alt mode? Tempted to become Pretenderpilled.

Yeah, I kinda wish they just made this guy a modular bot, but is what it is. He still makes for a pretty decent unintentional backpack armory. I think the only thing I really dislike about the toy as is are the swords being rubber, was really glad to see Metalhawk's was solid by comparison.

Also, it didn't need an extending axe, they could have copied the WFC gamer prime Axe so you could have a short and long axe just by taking pieces off so you don't end up with such a thick handle.

Pteraxadon is great and worth picking up. That Skullcruncher, though...not so much. He's very hollow and lacks any semblance of wrists or ankles, which severely limits his poseability. I was so disappointed with him that I eventually just went and nabbed the retro Headmaster version of him, which really is a hundred times better even if I'm not a fan of the Headmaster gimmick itself.

Forgot to mention - that Skullcruncher can't do the one thing you expect a crocodile toy to do: he can't open his mouth. It was sacrificed for some lame spring-loaded 'Energeon armor' mask that pops out from inside the gator head to swing over the robot head, which meant putting the hinge in the snout instead of the back of the jaws. The mask itself doesn't like to stay inside and will frequently deploy on its own. Not fun.

That leg transformation is magic, man. The closest an Arcee's come to getting across the original intended transformation. Sucked they nixed it for the redesign. Though I do like the slimmer figure it results in, and the fact the added kibble replacing it can just be pulled off. The comics have always been more of a pg-13 crowd anyway, so some of that can be overloooked, but you can't blame people for not wanting their kids watching the new show, or buying the toys, if it's telling them that someone can be niether male nor female, but not defining it as "Well they're robots, they don't do that" like previously.

Dropping teenage-level concepts of identity into an elementary school targeted show is a great way for me to not buy your toys.

Transformers has only ever been a "serious" war story in the Marvel and DW comics, Furman and Roche's IDW runs, the 86 movie, and the Bay films.
From all the anime (be they silly or more action-focused), to TF Animated, to Rescue Bots, and everything in between, the only constant in Transformers is that there's NO constant. One (1) run in a comic that had all sorts of different writers already, that was more of a character sitcom with adventure elements and HAPPENED to be popular with people, does not ruin what you enjoy about the franchise. There will always be shit that will pander to you, as there will be to others.

The same thing happened with the last ninja turtle show.

The shows can't get greenlit without pandering to certain things now, even if that means the show won't sell toys (holy crap just go to the TMNT threads and you'll see what I mean)

I have no idea what you're talking about with those examples, that's the examples *I* would have given as how every other transformers story is different than what IDW did.

The one thing that MIGHT compare is how RID2015 was a continuation of Bumblebee's story from the Prime universe, but for a younger audience, but even then it focused predominantly on entirely new characters. But they definitely lost some of their TFPrime audience, and it was obvious from the toy sales
and a lot of TFPrime fans DID complain at the time

You're (or maybe it's you and another anon together) really stuck on that when no one's complaining about that.

No one's mad at IDW cause the storylines they were interested in in the early days didn't keep going, or that they decided to replace them with different storylines.

It's that the TYPE of storytelling changed. It's not the same sort of product.

It's like headmasters. If you watch s1-3 of the original show and immediately watch headmasters afterwards, you're gonna haaaaate it. It made more sense because the japanese dub changed certain things for the original show so it didn't seem so out of left field for them, but it's just an entirely new sort of show, the storytelling is completely different, the characterizations are completely different. Arcee's practically an entirely different character.

That's not the part I have an issue with.

It's the literal design.

They wanted to hammer home that this was not THE Ultra Magnus (whatever that meant) so they made him... as little like ultra magnus as possible? They could have made his inner bot reference god magnus from RID, shattered glass magnus, TFA magnus, classics magnus, or shucks, even make him look like powered buggy, now THAT would have been a deep cut.

But instead they made him an OC donut steel design that aesthetically didn't fit in with any Ultra Magnus we had seen

Which is probably why the toy came with a car mode minimus, despite that obviously not being what he turns into.

Personally, I'm someone who's kinda starving for new original designs, so I'm more open to this sorta stuff. I think the story justified the design well enough; being that he's just one in a line of different people keeping the mantle alive, it would make sense that many of the inner robot guys would probably not look like older IRL iterations of Ultra Magnus.

Mind, I'm speaking as someone who enjoyed both Furman and Roberts' runs. If I was in your position and only liked the former, yeah, I'd be annoyed, but not that "they replaced the creative team at all", but rather "they didn't let my favorite creative team complete their vision before being rushed out". Whether or not the creative team will be replaced isn't a question, it's a given, both in comics AND animation; all I personally ask for is for higher ups to have the decency to let one team finish on their own terms first, before handing off the characters to someone else.

Eh, so-so. I think the TFP toys are just ugly and cheap-looking desu, though Skyquake is aight. Same goes for the RiD15 and Cyberverse character attempts, and the TFA redesigns are here and there too. Oh, I really like Legacy Elita-One, I should mention. Yeah I dunno, the reimaginings are overall just very meh to me.
I liked the Junkions meanwhile, they were all fun designs. The new rock guys are interesting but the designs in specific *so far* aren't to my tastes, yet. Maybe the later ones will be chill.

Those both end up in failures.

So which is it? Because you're not going to get a real-world accurate tank without it being in some kind of Masterpiece line. Which isn't going to happen anyway because MP lines are dedicated to animation or movie accuracy, and Megatron has never been a real tank in either of those.

This was the only version of that mold I ever thought about getting, but I was kinda disappointed over the lack of big, burly tires hanging off him because that's kind of one of Crosshairs' stand-out features. Yeah I saw those customizations. I dont think I'm quite autistic enough to do it though. I like this Attack mode where it looks like he deployed the Rocket launcher from a side mount. The added Targetmaster (not 8ncluded of course much to my chagrin) helps distract from the "hey look his arks in there" aspect.

I've had him for 2 years or so already but he's still a stand-out favorite to me. Transforming him isn't quite as fun as some, I really like the quick simplicity of TR Quake for instance, but both modes look great especially robot mode. The tilting ankles and swiveling wrists go a long way towards making him so great, Needlenose looks to be a similar level of complexity so that drew me to wanting one. Plus he's got the right look for my Decepticon third-stringer set.

I thought about this a lot. I have some 3-D printed surface-mount ports I got from nonnef or shapeways or whatever. You drill two tiny holes to set it in place and then glue it. It still requires drilling and is pretty permanent, but it seems less destructive to me. Being surface mount, though, I think it might get in the way of how his cockpit sits on his back in bot mode, which is why I never did it.

Is this official or did you do this? Pretty cool either way. I hope one day to see Hero Prime again. Hero Megatron wasn't forgotten yet Optimus was. And even on Megatron they refuse to put "MEGATRON RULEZ!" on him when they *do* remember the color scheme.

Its official from the RiD 2001 line. Combat Hero Optimus got a homage years ago in a gift set as well in pic related but he's quite small even for todays standard & is based on Laser Prime instead.

I'm arguing that idw changed all their comics style and tone to appeal to potential new customers at the expense of existing actual customers.
And that's bad.
And it's impacted the toys because it's made people less likely to buy toys of certain characters especially if they're idw based

I sold Walmart Megs for 30 or 35 and he was missing Pinpointer (hes all mine), so I think he'll sell well. People love Megatron. Just price it right and you'l be ok, but look out for scammers.

I'm on the fence re: whether I should keep the PF Primal that comes with him, and if so, if I should repaint him, or repaint my existing repainted Primal who I THINK is more show-accurate in the beast mode, but probably less so for robot mode..

but Megs has rubber so he can't be painted (maybe if I used latex paint?) so his magenta ass is getting sold.

when premium finish Inferno arrives, i'll have a similar quandry: keep him and try to modify the ant legs, or swap his head with classic inferno (and then repaint him a little? I'd feel bad modifying an original, and I just passed up a chance to buy another original from a guy I probably could have gotten a good price on) now that i've discovered classic Inferno can indeed hold the DLC gun (albeit sideways). But then, with the remaining body, use the Scavenger head from Antagony?? repaint him up as some other ant I guess? I'd still want to modify the ant legs. do I think I can even pull that off? I might need to buy a dremel.

I still like IDW (and barely know who Thew is since I ignore youtube) but it always had series I didn't enjoy and particularly towards the end of its run. I see a lot of people who still enjoy it but regardless of principles ended up disliking the end phase when the main plot got chaotic till it was like 5? 10? or so series crossing over with each other on top of event-based mini-comics and the original ongoing all being one giant muddled story and then they even some retconned things I liked. When it was eventually time for Unicron to show up to kill everybody you love (besides based Prowl and Needlenose) I couldn't deal with it anymore, despite not hating the continuity as a whole (and mostly liking IDW2 too).

Reading it all recently after the fact, I think I was just most annoyed by Barber's writing than the crossovers. I don't hold a grudge against him, but it's just that he was writer on the ongoing AND editor on literally everything else, and his run definitely read like notes from an editor. As in, it had ideas that sound good on paper (or in a wiki), but within a story that has no concept of pacing or satisfying payoffs. Soundwave's whole "arc" is the biggest offender imo, he just does things but without it feeling like a natural person's thoughts or decisions, you know? Overall his run was okay at the beginning, but as more comics were piled on, his writing just deteriorated. Eh, at least Scott's run existed by then to sorta semi-salvage that part of the story, but I know her writing isnt to everyone's tastes neither, so shruggers.
