>>10651202The whole reason they started pushing Transformers as live action films, and bought a cable channel and invested in a movie studio was because they want to make their own IPs into full on franchises. So they've always wanted to get away from doing Licensed stuff because they make way more money on in-house brands. Unfortunately, it seems stuff like Star Wars and Marvel are too huge to let go, even if they're not making as much return on em as they used to. Because if Hasbro isn't making em someone else will and that someone else will get that profit, regardless of how limited it is.
>>10651207I would love to see Hasbro, or any major company, do their own, original in house toyline. But those days are long gone my friend. Big retailers don't want expensive toys without a media tie in, and big toy companies don't wanna risk making toys that retailers don't want to sell.
>>10651278>>10651285The animated stuff was unfortunately awful, but the rest of the line was decent to great. The monsters are lots of fun and that alone should be enough to carry a line.
>>10651420>>10651440Overwatch flopped because every Blizzard Toyline flops. Hell, pretty much everything Blizzard touches flops. The Overwatch line never had a chance.
Fortnite's "failure" is a surprise though, the figures they released were fantastic. They had great sculpts, great articulation, a ton of variety and decent load outs. While they couldn't touch Jazware's accessory options, the figures themselves were better so it was always a tough call between the two. McFarlane was always a solid third place, but Fortnite having three different really nice 6ish inch figure lines all so close to each other is an oddity indeed.
I think the increased price point and insistence on "deluxe" packs hurt the line overall. Even though those packs had a lot of fun big accessories, they were a lot harder to impulse buy when they first came out.
