Good luck. I recently went looking for the escape buggy set and couldn't find jack. A combination of age, Lego's legal crusade against bootleggers, and the movie's relative unpopularity probably mean they're OOP.

Just got the CADAbricks tea house. Quality is alright. Somewhere between Sluban and Sembo. They're all decent but Sembo has been the highest imo. Which is why I've ordered a Merkava, MRAP, BMPT, SA-9, Pantsir and SA-9 vehicles from them.

The teahouse came with all the pieces but just 1 spare which I guess is technically fair. The USB lighting cable is way too short and inconvenient being USB though IMO.

The Sembo Smerch looks pretty good, though a bit small to fit with Mega figs; same deal with the Pantsir, though both are tempting. Can vouch for their Type 88A MBT, was a fun if sometimes unconventional build, with a massive amount of apply-and-peel decals and a few printed parts. No pics yet but I'll try tomorrow if I'm up to it, battling a bloody cold.
Incidentally this one >>10657861 turned out to be a XingBao and was a letdown overall. It looks good and the turret is nicely detailed but the road wheels were a bitch to put together and the final product struggles to roll. Will get pics of both soon.

Agree that Sembo relies on quite a bit of stickers including stickers across multiple pieces so definitely cannot be reused again. To be fair though, I'm been buying Lego recently as well and it's not like even so-called highest standard Lego tries to minimize stickers in their sets in this day and age.

The stuff I selected from Sembo can host a minifig in a cockpit or as dismounts just fine and won't look gigantic on Lego-scale roads which is one reason I really like them. Admittedly not all Sembo sets are easily adaptable like that but the Type-10 is lovely for minifigs with a half-built driver's setup.

Think Sluban messed up the promotional pics for it scaling-wise even when using their own minifig designs so pic with the actual minifig scale I'd like to use would really help.

Shoot, in my depleted state I missed the part about putting a fig at the fire controls... this is good enough though right? Couple things about the M777, the barrel is a little too heavy to elevate it at anything lower than maximum (though that could be fixed with some parts switching or joint-tightening stuff) and the stabilizers are a bit flimsy. I've also replaced the brick intended as its muzzle brake with a proper one and included the Sluban Flak 88 just cause.

That works thanks. Looks like the M777’s barrel size and control proportions are way too big. Seems that Sluban 88m jives better with minfigs. Definitely looks like a flak gun but with some mods I can see it as an artillery piece…

Yeah it's a weird little one-off it seems, fun build tho. I think it'll fit in well with these light tanks from Mega's short-lived Wonder Builders subtheme, got a couple of em on clearance. When I can track one down I'll do a side-by-side.

Was one of the first tanks I ordered from Ali during the early days of the scamdemic; Sembo's quality was not quite what it is a few years on, also got their Tiger and it had significant clutch issues affecting the idlers, had to roll the thing carefully lest the whole section would start coming off.

That's the i-love bricks store, part of the Buildmoc moc atre group where i source my piece lots, they're lego quality but no lego printing, all their sets are just MoC designs from the internet amd the prieces have pretty good clutch and sturdyness, overall pretty good, pic related is made out of pure buildmoc pieces

Are Brickarms U clips still flimsy or have they updated them? I got some over a decade ago and a fair few are broken by now. But recently I got a pack of 100 off Aliexpress and they're thicker and presumably sturdier. The 25c each Brickarms ones are a ripoff by comparison.

SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER. Just kidding. Would never leave my waifig exposed like that without a full security detail even if she can timestop.

MRAP PROS:
-Decent block quality
-Instructions clear and all pieces present
-EVERYTHING is literally printed get your shit together TLG
-Good minifig scale, faster than typical tank and APC without shit protection like Humvee
-Comes with weapons and questionable minifigs not featured in their standard product pics

MRAP CONS:
-Turret cannot rotate
-Bigger minifigs with gear cannot fit in the passenger seats

Overall still a clearly thumbs up and recommend. Phalanx-2 to control, waifu is secure exfil cleared for landing!

The new ones are made out of a different type of plastic, same kind as official LEGO minifig hands (POM instead of ABS)
It’s a bit more flexible, so they won’t snap as easily

Lots of closeup shots of the bluebrixx minifigures and i'm quite surprised those are legal, when the original Qman Chibi figures were something Lego went to court against.

I don't know of any straight up lawsuits, but it seemed like all the brands saw the writing on the wall after Lego took Lepin to court and won. The rebranding was coincidental, I think. "Enlighten" is a common word and probably difficult to trademark.

Just got the Sembo Merkava. It's solid. I like tanks 12 studs wide or a little smaller for minifig scale.

PROS:
-Brick quality good including a spring-loaded cannon with nothing missing.
-Tracks and turret rotation are fine.
-Interior ready to customize - can prolly fit a 2-3 minifig crew.

CONS:
-Stickers. Tons of them so you can really only choose 1 of the 2 possible builds.
-Interior is literally just a hollow skeleton - not even any floorplates.
-Gun ammo isn't firmly fixed when loaded - will fall out if barrel lowered too much.

QUESTION: Anyone have the Sluban Humvee? Can you confirm what specifically molded pieces comes with it? Looks like just the doors. If you can also take a pic it would be much appreciated!... Can't really tell from the the varying standard product pics I've seen what sand/tan colour the thing actually is.

I'm considering getting the Humvee to complement my also 8-stud wide Sembo MRAP battle wagon. Sembo Humvee way too big.

Not the best pic but here's the Sluban Humvee alongside their Abrams, iirc you're right, it was only the doors that were specialized. Thanks for the Merkava review, was thinking about it but I'll probably pass now, the lack of an interior kind of kills it for a tank known for its unique troop carrier feature. The "Bradley" alt build if we can call it such just looks way off, especially when there's a near-copy of Mega's design you can get.

Agree. Just read the entire thread. There has not been a single "shitpost"... IMO this thread has only been steady or growing in popularity as competitors to TLG are going starting to really go toe-to-toe with TLG where it hurts - the quality.

I've been following /pbbg/ for a while now. These so-called "knock-off" brands have been upping their quality game. Meanwhile... TLG has been resting on its laurels and just trying to find cheaper production methods.

The army men and Mega gens are also unbumpable, from a brief scan of the catalog there's others with the same condition so it's probably not personal. They've become too expensive, usually I just get 1-2 of any new ones I like and sometimes the still reasonable weapon packs if they're decent enough. Was disappointed their new Jewzi is a bit of a struggle for Mega hands but to be expected I guess.

It's side by side with a 1:48 M48 Patton, if that helps. Pretty sure Sluban generally sticks to 1:35, when they're maintaining proper proportions anyway (the Higgins Boat and LVT in their D-Day and Iwo Jima playsets are cartoonishly small).

Unrelated but I wanted to repost this MOC tank I cobbled together with multiple cheap Peizhi sets picked up at the liquidation centre, kinda thrilled it turned out as well as it did. Would've liked to do a flatter turret; might revisit it someday if I can get a few more of those sets.

It's one of their earlier sets so there's some wiggle room I guess. Their newer stuff explicitly states 1:35 scale. Getting it bang-on to scale is near-impossible with plastic building blocks anyway, if you want that level of accuracy there's diecast and plamo.

Tbh, 100% scale can't be achieved with blocks anyway, so i generally dont care. For me the most important aspect is that the shape and the angles are as correct as possible, if a model has to sacrifice scale and is bigger or smaller to get some angles right, so be it.

Thanks. I wonder if there's a more heavily armed and armored 8-stud wide 4x4 SUV/truck-like thing instead of that Sluban Humvee. The barebones is not really doing it for me since the look is no armor at all. Funnily enough that's apparently one reason they ditched it - US Army: If we have to up-armor this shit so much to make it remotely survivable then fuck it... let's just pay for and buy brand new shit. Go military-industrial complex.

Unfortunately Sembo has a hardier looking Russian Tigr with anti-tank missile launcher but it's way too tiny at 6 studs wide so can't even fit 4 inside. Argh.

From the promo images it has a fairly modest rear door, 2x4 studs; that and the fact that they aren't showing off any kind of interior heavily implies there probably isn't much to speak of.

Very nice looking and I'm sure since it's Sluban the quality is just fine. Unfortunately it looks like the base body is 11~ studs wide. That's a real armored chonker.

Guess I'll have to keep looking. 8~ studs wide is what Lego uses for the Speed Champions and vehicles that fit two minifigs side-by-side. I'm trying to get these in similar scale to that.

To fit the parameters of a tough-looking 4x4 armored truck plastic building blocks kit it's necessarily going to be beefy. There's this Cougar MRAP by LEYI that's closer to what you're looking for width-wise, bit light on the armament though and its a 6-wheeler.

Thanks again for this recommendation! I'll be looking into it. Don't mind the 6 wheels as a compromise given how admittedly picky I'm being. This thing definitely looks "armored" and a minigun is pretty good for a mechanized infantry SUV/truck thing. I mean if you armor it up even more, give it more wheels and powerful weapons then it pretty much becomes a IFV at which point I prefer the tracked stuff. Once again I absolutely love the Sluban BMP that technically has enough offensive firepower to go after tanks.

Heavy weapons for these smaller vehicles qualify as stubby short-range ATGMs, miniguns and grenade launchers in my books. Better than the generic medium or heavy .50 cal machine gun lots of these toymakers seem to stick on combat "truck" rigs.

Yeah their BMP is fantastic, almost makes you forget the ever-growing number of wrecked ones littering the fields of eastern europe these days... Sluban put out a Stryker before that as part of their Predators mini-line, is a fun vehicle with a roomy but plain troop compartment. Unfortunately it suffers from soft clutch issues on the side panels, to such a degree I took the rare step of supergluing a couple pieces to save my sanity.

I assume my humble block version is properly armed and excellently maintained with seasoned crewed manning them. Unlike the real Vatniks… Putin’s boi General Oligarchov bought dummy BMP cannon ammo and fake ERA for a kickback, Colonel Kleptovich sold the BMP gas and spare parts on Russian eBay, Supply Officer Stealzitski ripped out all the electronic wiring while still marking it as fit for battle and Private Conscriptovich who has to drive the poor BMP or other kit has only had 5 hours of drill experience on it… LMAO

You can have the best vehicles on the planet to start with but then your corrupt as hell and incompetent military will totally ruin it…

The lion's share of the BMP losses I've seen have been AFU, not gonna argue there haven't been similar numbers on the other side but the IFV as a concept is taking a literal pounding out there. Makes you wonder if that unlikely battle during Desert Storm between a couple Bradleys and a unit of Iraqi armor that saw the latter get stomped for no US losses went to some people's heads.

Getting back on track I did order that Pantsir alongside an M109. Hoping QuanGuan or Sluban gives us an Elefant at some point, hasn't really been a decent one out there other than a technic-heavy one that isn't bad but isn't what I'm looking for either.
