No company produced something as good for less until 2020 or so, and most of these were Chinese wannabes so labor is a whole lot less and they don't even have to pay for licenses. And despite operation/overhead costs being 2-5x less, they are charging only $10-20 less than a One:12 figure (usually with shittier QC too).
So it points toward Mezco-tier 1:12 dolls actually being that expensive to produce.
I've already posted 3 examples of low tier and mid-tier clothed dolls are many steps below the quality you see on higher end 1:!2 dolls
Pic is an example of how a company produced a $30 figure with the same features as "high end" Japanese collector toys. Just one of many examples of companies wanting to get a larger piece of the pie witthout charging an arm and a leg.
