They crossed over from late 90s into early 00s, but I always loved these little statue dudes of those optical illusion things, you rotate them and suddenly your brain goes "Oh! An Animal!" but they were made in a way that made them feel weirdly tactilely nice and special

There were multiple series, I only had like 2 of them, the green one in this and the one you said you liked.

I honestly considered tracking down a full set last year to make a little desk display of them with a 45degree mirror so you could see both forms
