RG Gundam Exia for me.
I know all the early RG Gundams are shit and fall apart if you breathe on them wrong, but building this was literally one of the worst building experiences and almost made me give up on RG kits altogether.

I'm not an evafag, but I've heard that the Evangelion RG kits are fantastic. Can anyone who's built one confirm?

My wife built Unit 01, and I think 02 is in the basement. It's pretty solid, didn't feel like too much of a hand grenade, and the articulation through the torso is cool. Only think I can't really comment on is decals, since she set that as a back burner project that might not ever get touched.

My first gunpla was the RG RX-78-2 and have zero problems with it.

My worst experience was the Bucue (the Gundam wolf thing). A bit disastrous when one of the required pieces is a piece of reed wire, so I had to improvise with one of those wires you find on some big packaging (like a doll or nerf gun). Then, the stickers don't stick (I don't have any paint either), and one of the pieces won't stay on, which is awful.

RG Exia was my 2nd rg after the RG rx-78 when I was getting into gunpla. Its a solid build.

RG SInanju was my first.
And dear God did it fuck me. I even tried baby's first bullshit to fix it like adding nailpolish to tighten spot.
At least now it's a pretty gem that showcases my favorite MS that I will never fucking touch due it being a damn grenade.

But RG Exia is fine, far from a hand grenade. The only thing to watch out for beginners is to not play with the leg inner frames before full armour assembly. The inner frame for the legs aren't designed to be stressed at points other than where the armour parts would.
Other than that, it's far closer to the solid side than say RG RX782 and Zeta and GP01. Even those are fine if you just take your time and build it properly, just a bit loose after assembly here and there depending on which one it is.
>RX782 shoulder armour panels may need gluing down, articulated hands good concept but loose quickly
>GP01 loose core fighter/torso
>zeta better take half hour to transform because if you do anything wrong the frame will break somewhere. Either on the first transformation or when you transform back from MA to MS lol
Love the things though, and ever since RG Unicorn they're fucking rock solid.

This piece of shit. I don't know if it's the gold plastic they used for the frame but the hip and ankles are so weak the thing can barely stand in a neutral pose without eventually doing a split and falling down.

Not exactly gunpla but for me the worst kit from bandai I built is RG Gaogaigar, it pretty much killed my interest in any transformable model kit and made me not pick up a RG God gundam when I saw it in store as seeing the RG label triggered my PTSD from Gaogaigar

It's so baffling to me every time I've heard the Rg Zeta talked about, I've built three versions of it and never had a single problem. It's easy one of the best rgs, and looks absolutely fantastic.

The Casval version is probably my favorite version of it. Weak shoulder balls aside the kit holds up great. The zaku II is super solid as well.

The only rg I didn't really like was the Sinanju, the joints are super unstable and the waist and shoulder joints are a joke.

The best rg is probably the Nu or Crossbone, they are great.

The modern RG lineup is peak Gunpla. Just avoid anything older than the Unicorn and you'll be fine.

The answer is grey paint though. A wash for a more subdued look or use a couple coats for a nice crisp look.
