When Takara loses the rights to Transformers from Hasbro, who will distribute Transformers in Japan? Bandai?

This is not a distribution license deal, Takara owns the brand as much as Hasbro.
Also removing Takara from the equation would mean no Japanese designers input, and I can't see the American designers doing a better job by themselves.

Takara does all of Masterpiece and MP:BW. They collab with Hasbro on SS and some of Generations. MPM is from a Chinese branch of Takara. Hasbro is responsible for Mainline Movie and kids lines like EarthSpark/ Cyberverse if i'm not mistaken.

I talked with Aaron Archer at TFCon and asked him about the design process. From what I recall, the Japanese designers would handle the actual transformation aspect of the toy. It's been a while so my memory is fuzzy, but he definitely said they were involved in mainline production.

My takeaway was: Hasbro works on the characters and design concepts, and Takara figures out the mechanical aspect

The Hasbro team decides "soft" things like concept design, colours, size, budget.
Takara does the physical toy design, engineering, prototyping and also sources the factory.

Apparently some chick from Hasbro China has input on the MPM line. They've only brought it up once during a Chinese stream I think.
