Skannerz, I thought finding monsters to fight and collect was the coolest thing ever. I loved my green one and used it on a load of barcodes for months, but looking back, it just ended up being a really shallow Pokemon clone. I never got to battle my monsters against anyone as I didn't know anyone else who played with this.

Digimon and keychain pets in general were super overrated, Skanners weren't any worse than the rest but they weren't a whole lot better either outside of the gimmick.

I only bought into bonkles because I thought it would relieve the pain of losing Xevoz, which were nearly sold out of KB Toys. I never liked Bonkles. It was always about Hero Factory and Exo Force for me

My parents didn't allow us to have video games when I was a kid, and this was my first "console". I chose it from a prize catalog after selling enough from a fundraiser, and I freaking loved this thing. It only had a few games like tetris, snake, and a really crappy racing game. But it amazed me that I could play a videogame in my bed without having to go to the family computer.

lol, I had this, too. Also made so many of them, bu what pos toy. The bugs I made would break or harden up after a few months or collect insane amounts of dust on them. After the initial burst of use, it was like, “ok, is that all it does?” Mine broke after six months anyways and my dad wisely refused to replace it.

I remember stuff like this and animal planet got me really into nature as a kid. I use to love collecting the pokeman cards and scattering them in the woods, then i used that Pokedex to pretend like I found the Pokeman in the wild. Was a great toy.

Same, I loved bionicle thoroughly as a kid but over time I came to realize that only the early years were good when they had like actual action features and shit. The later years were basically just the same glorified doll copy pasted 100 times with a different gun.

There is absolutely a mystique to them in that most people aren't just going to buy them alone, you by them with a kids meal,and most kids won't go frequently enough to get everything in a collection. Where as with actual big ticket toys, unless it's a craze item like Furby in 98, you could just walk into a toystore and get them.

There were some edible bug makers, but the Creepy Crawlers were made out of Plasti-GoopTM that cures into a rubbery solid. And the original formula has the benefit of releasing toxic fumes when baked in that little oven.
