Good stuff, MOCs are always welcome on the /pbbg/. Here's another one I did with parts from multiple Peizhi "War Power" sets: started off a combine build of theirs and tweaked it to be more like something out of Crimson Skies.

Pretty rad, i luv me some flying death machines, also, is that minifig sluban? Qman? There's a store near me that sells those but the dude removed the minifigs and adds lego style one for some odd reason so i'm not too familiar with these, but the elbow joints seems rad

These ones were a fun little project of giving legs to some of the manu figs i have that didn't come with legs (say, they came with either a "dress piece" which is just a slope or molded pieces imitating snake or mermaid tails) i decided tonuse different techniques for each and i'm pretty ok with how they turned out

Yes, gay is one of many appropriate words for the bump lock rubbish, my three favorite threads are all heavily affected by it and I demand relief from this intolerable and indiscriminate oppression.

The minifigs are Peizhi's own design it seems, taking some inspiration from Kre-o figs (sculpted jawline, arms on ball joints, swivel hips). Printing on them is pretty good, range of articulation slightly better than Lego but inserting their hands can be a struggle.

I'd rate them near-peer to the brands cited in terms of parts quality, though I must express some disappointment with their T80 - the tank looks great but does not roll well at all. I think they used the wrong plastic for the tread pieces, and/or there's a slight fault in the build.

I've received my gold saints and they look great, much better than the old ones. The headdress and wig make an easy-to-assemble helmet, the only that gave trouble being Leo's. Disappointed by Cancer face's look as he was having a seizure or mentally challenged. It's not a bad print, every shots i have found got the same face.

I'm the guy that ordered "BuildMOC" Titans from Aliexpress and got in the first one. It's TERRIBLE do not recommend.

Had a few pieces with too many sprues and misshaping. More importantly, the thing assembled as-is was flimsy as hell and couldn't even stand by itself...

Required ankle, knee, hand and back surgery along with non-build modifications/parts to even stand on its own. End result is in pic.

Overall: 4/10.

Only recommended if you like Titanfall and doing occasional "challenging" builds while swearing due to a mix of shit MOC design and parts.

If you are that stubborn like myself, I can confirm it's possible to get the thing to carry the heavy asf BRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTT [Cue Freedom] it comes with. I stuck the blade it came with on the back just fine and added a flamethrower. But good luck getting it do that out of the box with the joke default joints...

Only reward is it does have a resemblance and looks real mean when it stands tall.

I sincerely hope the Northstar which is an inherently simpler build isn't such a dumpster fire. *Cue GTA Meme shieettt here we go again* when I get it.

Trying my first mould king kit. Way bigger (and heavier) than i expected. I got this on sale to check out how the quality was, not too much different to lego it seems. You can absolutely tell the design was done digitally, a few steps in the instructions have pieces that aren't held in place or supported until another piece later in the assembly locks them in place.

pretty cool build though so far, i think i'm around halfway.

No worries I don't blame you. Caveat emptor always applies with these Chinese vendors bleh. Even new Lego parts couldn't compensate fully for the poor MOC design either. At this point the only non-Lego brands I've had enough experience with to venture a ranking are Mega Bloks, Sembo and Sluban. Average quality of the pieces I got were a bit worse than all 3 of those non-Lego brands I've experienced but still workable. As in you won't see ugly cracks and visibly malformed pieces are very rare but you'll notice the inconsistent and somewhat weaker clutch power of the same types of pieces versus Lego and those 3 non-Lego names. Flex test on a spare piece also suggested they're more brittle. Not very insightful I know but hope at least it's a tiny bit helpful.

On another happier note, I recently got the Sluban SU-85. Certainly feels like an earlier Sluban set since the build is very plain and it's not very feature-rich (Sluban minifig can't even stand in the crew "slot" in the build). Still good though since with just minor mods the tracks will roll like a dream and one minifig can comfily fit.

Also got a Sembo set as a gift. Didn't look at the picture that closely first and thought it was a SAM but translated it's actually supposed to be a Chinese WZ550 with HJ9 missiles. If I'm wrong on the exact vehicle model I have also been told on multiple occasions by the War Thunder community that this type of vehicle is called an "ATGM spamming faggot" (LOL they're fun to use). Comes with 3 minifigs that can fit inside as the crew. Unsure if the crew have to be faggots too.

kek this was pretty much the Soviets in Red Storm Rising after their tanks kept getting popped by three men and a jeep-mounted TOW. I've rather neglected those vehicles in the pursuit of tanks, maybe I need to rethink my life decisions.

For the small track size, this is great. Usually those never run really well on any build and i try to avoid tanks with those tracks.

The Sembo set looks cool. But those are all stickers, right?

Yes they're all stickers. That's one of the downsides. The size and number of stickers sheet is admittedly pretty bad. Quite a few go over multiple bricks...

On a positive note, it's funny that tons of Sembo block military set ads don't advertise the ton of figures and weapons they come with. The poseable ones based on modified Lego proportions are quite good. Pic related. Without really expecting it I got an entire spec-ops fireteam from the Sembo military sets ordered to date.

On this week's episode of "What the Fucking Fuck is This?!" we have the Sembo BMP-Terminator.

Tracks rolls great with an extra link. Good brick quality. However a ton of stickers with only 2 printed pieces and the ATGM mounts needs to be reinforced.

Fairly neutral overall especially since I still can't figure out what the hell this thing is supposed to be in brick form or IRL. I've seen vids and articles on it but seriously... is this thing supposed to go in front, beside, or behind heavy armor...? Is it a total replacement for infrantry...? Why the hell did they use a tank chassis and combine it with a pretty weakly armored turret...? I don't even Ivan...

My understanding is it's the end product of lessons learned from Stalingrad to Chechnya - an AFV with the crew protection of an MBT and the anti-personnel capabilities of several IFVs, with a few ATGMs slapped on for good measure. While ostensibly still suitable for more "conventional" battlefields, its bread and butter is the close quarters urban jungle so unforgiving to your bog standard tank. The turret is unmanned so armor protection isn't as much of a factor and can probably be altered/swapped out with mission-specific armament.

It's kind of like the UNSC's Scorpion tank in that all the armor is concentrated in the hull, with the unmanned turret sticking up. Given the way warfare has been evolving this is probably something all big military nations are looking into. Until there's considerable advances in robotics we're not going to see a total replacement for infantry anytime soon - someone's gotta go in and actually hold the ground after a few of these death-dealers have cruised through the 'hood chucking frags in every window and chewing up anything that moves with autocannon fire.

Turret is unmanned, and its a support vehicle for both, tanks and infantry.
They used the tank chassis, because they already have those in production and they work.
Its an interesting concept, and we will see in the next decade if it actually proofed successful in the current war, if other countries start to develop something similar or if the concept dies off.

Sluban Typhoon-VDV completed. Trying to remember everything I wanted to say about it so this could be a bit of a ramble. In terms of aesthetics it certainly looks good, quite faithful to its real-world source. Clutch is typical of current year Sluban, though you may struggle with a couple areas that will come up later. Early on there were two technic axles needing to be inserted into pairs of 1x2 bricks with + holes and that was a bit of an ordeal.

Sluban does stickers but not nearly so many as Sembo and others; they also usually don't do stickers across multiple parts. My sticker sheet was folded inside the instructions booklet but thankfully were of good enough quality they didn't suffer for it. There's an empty space under the hood - either they planned to put an engine in there and forgot/it got cut, or this thing is meant to run on happy thoughts or something.

Getting to the play features is where things start to break down a bit, in one case literally. The windscreen design is a bit fragile for where it is used; it starts to come apart rather easily when trying to fit figs into the front seats. this is compounded by the door designs which make for a really close fit for the driver and front passenger - they have to be reclining and have their arms just so in order to get the doors flush with the cabin. Speaking of the doors, they can only partially open and when they do the rear-view mirrors push the mudflap forward. It can start to get finicky if you have large fingers (some bandaged) like I do but I don't consider it a dealbreaker; they worked hard to keep it in scale without using a bunch of specialized pieces. They did create a couple new tile pieces with one rounded side for some of the roof areas which works nicely. The interior of the back is pretty cramped but can just fit the two additional soldiers (set comes with four total).

Hard to tell but you may notice in bottom right pic that the front wheel isn't straight ahead - they're designed to be able to turn left or right a few degrees, though they will no longer be able to move if they're set any farther than a couple ticks either way from centered.

I liked it, made me appreciate how much effort Sluban puts into their designs and the delicate balance between playability and accuracy to source material. It may not work to use Lego minifigs with it, given that Sluban's figs are smaller and they were already struggling some.

I have the Typhoon arriving soon (hopefully) too. Along with some other stuff. Its a fucking ugly vehicle, but thats not Slubans fault.

Thanks for the review are there are printed pieces to this? The front wheel being able to turn is pretty neat. This also helped confirm IMO the Typhoon is too big for minifig scale. But Google that variant would have a... 30mm autocannon on top? Leave it to Ivan to put a bigass gun on something that started as a fortified SUV-thing.

Also I had a pleasant surprise. The I Love Blocks people did fantastic with the Northstar set. It seems their production batch quality varies wildly because the piece quality I got this time around were the best of the "knock-offs" and extremely close to Lego. Model itself is sturdy enough to pose out-of-the-box but with just a bit of modding it becomes very posable and something you can play with.

Got my Xingbao's BMM-4S yesterday. Proportions are sligtly wrong - front part needs to be lower and longer - but overall it is pretty nice looking and sturdy build. Plenty of space (and almost no detail) inside. Also no minifigs or accessories with the kit, so it is manned by some international volunteers from a distant land of Sembo for now.

That was what made me go for it in the end. Looks so much better like that. I never really liked the huge amount of cars available that make the entire bodyshape out of a clusterfuck of technic pieces with loads of huge gaps everywhere.

They stopped doing that a while ago. Well, at least some of the bigger brands did. No idea how well they pay for the designs, but they realized that copyright is something the people in the west care for, and a set might sell better if the designers name is mentioned.

Never been a fan of that particular Lambo, but it looks easily recognizable, and therefore the designer succeeded. Hopefully they do more cars like this, the price seems to be right, and if they do the right car, i might get it.

Quality is better than Sluban, with less sharp edges and injection marks on parts, better clutch, but worse than Sembo and SY - technic parts, as well as ball joints and hinges, feel fragile, printed parts are kinda meh.

Also images in the instructions are washed out and at some points it was hard to understand color of the next piece - dark and light olive ones look almost the same.

And here it is. Its bigger than i thought. When i was looking at the pictures at Aliexpress, i had the impression it would have the "standard" small sized lego city wheels, but those are twice as big, and so is the entire vehicle.

No interior, and the rockets can only go up and down, and wont turn, which is sad. The hatch on the top and the door at the back does open tho.

Also i feel a little bit cheated, because in the instruction there was a minifigure, but it was not included in the set. But besides that, there was not a single missing piece, but also not a single extra piece. (Both is strange).

I got the second part of a gift and was surprised to get the Sluban Humvee. So I humbly present:

The VIRGIN Humvee IEDbait vs. the CHAD MRAP battlewagon.

Both are great for minifig scale, the brick quality is fine and come with minifigs although Chad comes with more obviously.

Where Chad outshines is minifig capacity and moddable playability. Chad can easily take a crew of 3 plus 4 dismounts. Chad can have 2 or more weapon stations while the Virgin can only really do the single .50 cal (there's not enough cargo space in the back). Virgin can only take a crew of 2 plus 3 dismounts with notably lower chance of survival getting mine'd or shot at.

Interested to know which one you'd ride in if you were part of the light armor recon and first-response force... No artillery, Titan mechs or spacecraft backing you up.

This anorexic looking bitch is the Sembo Pantsir. Unlike Sembo's Chad MRAP, it's all stickers rather than printed pieces. Quality is decent as you'd expect from Sembo and no pieces are missing. To be fair there are plenty of Lego heavy "trucks" that are just 6-studs wide for their body but it really messes up the Pantsir's modding and playability IMO...

The Pantsir is hollow in the back behind the driver's seat so you'll have to mod the back yourself especially with a weapons control officer. The built-in play feature is the "radar" system which is built to spin as you roll the wheels. Of course the wheels roll pretty well so the radar spins fairly fast which is kinda funny.

Full disclosure: I hated this damn thing from day 1 since a piece flew off and hit the waifig. Like that stupid vatnik friendly fire incident. Will have program the Titans to shoot this fucker if it looks remotely like it wants to team-kill.

This Beast from the East is Sembo's PCL-181. Thought it was a Frenchy Caesar. Whatever it's the Chinese lookalike version of the Caesar also with full computerized targeting.

Comes with 4 minifigs and lots of weapons. No pieces missing. About 10% are actually prints and the rest are stickers. The cannon does shoot alright and elevates to a bit over 45 degrees it seems. Cab is also quite comfy for two minifigs. Wheels roll fine.

Downsides are heresy stickers over multiple, some loose areas due to bad design and the thing being too high off the ground for minifig-scale. Had to add a shell lift at the back or else it will just seem absolutely ridiculous when you're handling it.

Could be a mistake in that shipped set, or maybe they exclude them to avoid custom troubles? Its the first time i had this happen tho.

But i'm ordering the SCUD, so lets see in 1-2 weeks if that one has a figure in the instructions booklet or not.

Pic related is the Sluban Chi-Ha i mentioned earlier.
I think it looks great, and its easily recognizable, even tho it might be a bit too big compared to the minifigures. (3 are included as you can see).
It comes with the option to build the a 2nd late war turret version with a stronger gun, but i like the crude looking ring antenna more, so its the early turret for me.
There is zero interior, and no hatches that open at all, not even the turret. (maybe the other one, because its bigger).
Besides that, its good quality, the tracks run actually well (because it has rubber wheels for its roadwheels and that helps i think).
The highlight is the little piece of cloth for the one japanese soldier to go under his helmet. That looks cool, and they clearly put some thought and effort to this. The figures also come with a variety of arm poses, and i used one for the Marine.

Overall a cool set for enjoyers of early WW2 stuff, and dont want to build the 3rd Tiger or Panther.

I also recommend this tank, fits in nicely with my otherwise armor-deprived Japanese army men. The other turret does have an opening hatch, and I really appreciate that the set comes with enough parts to have both turrets built at the same time, usually they only give you the extras needed for an alt build.

The stabilizer legs can be lowered, with the forward pair even able to extend out from the truck a ways. They took care to package the two windscreen pieces individually to avoid scratching, a nice touch. There is plenty of room in the cab for driver and passenger, with the third crewman comfortably ensconced in the rear to operate the weapons system. There is an interior area at the very back that can be accessed by lifting panels on either side, with a walled-off area separating it from the weapons system compartment, presumably to simulate the inner workings of the rooftop turret above it.

The other two sets are rather less impressive, for different reasons. The Type 99 I would rate the better of the two - its main fault is the fit can be tight in places and hard on already suffering fingertips. It is a little unusual in that it is both tailored to fit its accompanying Mega CoD-style fig in the turret while retaining the appearance of just being scaled down from the original, sort of like a carnival ride. You can lift up the grates at the back to reveal the engine and if you remove the turret and the plate beneath it you'll find a miniature seat with driver controls, far too small for the fig or even a standard Lego guy.

The H.I.S.S. looks decent, but appearances can be deceiving. The thing is pretty flimsy, between questionable design choices and the limited amount of parts; all stickers; the driver area is devoid of any kind of controls; rolling the thing can lead to a couple cosmetic pieces coming off. Even the fig is underwhelming, reminds me of an extremely cheap police set that I think was Best-Lock I bought at Superstore forever ago, lemme see if I can dig up a pic.

My guess is whatever patents Best-Lock had on their figure have lapsed and it's different enough from Lego's design that it's considered fair game for use by other brands.

The Cobra fig's face does have a molded nose and the print is quite misaligned with it, but it's rounded rather than triangular and lacks the other molded facial features of B-L figs. Très bizarre

Assembled Ol' Vanguard BT. Was missing just 2 pieces but I'll let that slide given that the legs actually use proper joints and it was designed to be stable standing and walking with extra reinforcements. The arm construction was fine too. Just replaced the elbows out of preference as the default version was a bit stiff.

Brick quality is Lego-like akin to the Northstar. However, unlike the Northstar which I have literally gotten to stand on one foot (and probably can make it do a handstand with some extra reinforcements) the leg design makes for very limited posing. Can't do much running, tilting or crouching action.

...Real shame as it can't lower itself enough to pick the waifig off the ground. However, the cockpit is extremely roomy compared to the cramped Northstar. Northstar can't accommodate minifigs with 2x2 stud dress legs and their small carry-ons (handbag, comb etc.) like this one.

Got a last one inbound. A fugly-ass Scorch (it's derived from the "Ogre" chassis so no surprise there) but it looks to be the biggest and sturdiest of the lot with a deluxe size cockpit on top. Guess either that thing or this can be the backup waifig carrier Titan.

Got a Kazi set for the first time in ages and it was great: the pieces fit well together, the build was nice and there were a ton of printed parts (zero stickers). It's the Type 056 Luhu destroyer from pic related, included a neat little model of their Blackhawk knock-off helicopter to sit on the helipad, three naval figs and a dolphin. Thinking I'll be getting more of these, they're all about 25 maplebucks each; thinking of getting their version of the ATGM-spamming faggot, maybe the Type 081 minesweeper and/or one of the missile trucks.

Bought a bootleg set
One of the larger red pieces had a brown scratch on it, like it's scraped against another piece.
It's not deep and I guess not all that noticeable but is there anyway to remove it somehow?

Do you think it's down to the parts or down to the MOC?
The thing about the AliExpress sellers is they don't really check how sturdy the MOC is. I almost pulled the trigger on one before seeing someone else who put the MOC together and said it collapsed when the door slammed.

Going to show you all something exotic today - Tiger SUV in the Ajbolit armored ambulance variant. Kit officialy licenced by the russian EMERCOM, by the way.
According to the label on the box, it is being produced by the Guandong Xingbao Electronic Technology Co LTD, but I have never seen one of theese on Ali or anywhere else, and the box is almost comletely in russian.

Quality of parts is similar to my only other Xingbao kit - ukrainian BMM. But the construction is different, mostly brick-on-brick assembly and almost no angled surfaces or hinges. So it is pretty stable.
More space inside than BMM due to larger scale, but, again, almost no detail - only couple of seats, a steering wheel and a stretcher. Everything else was added by me.
No working suspension, but there is an engine block under the hood.
Most of the markings are printed, only two stickers on the back door. Also, minifigs are nice, with good printing on all sides and some articulation.

Overall, an interesting kit. Will probably try to get more from this series - there are some nice looking russian and soviet fire engines.

Its a shame that the war destroyed all reasonable means to order from Russia as an EU citizen.
There was the Blueberry store that would ship all those cheap-ish russian brands, and i did not order enough from them during the covid period to satisfy my desire for them.

I also got some really old enlighten sets from russia that way.

In this case it was both. Their QC inspectors must have really been asleep on this batch because the brick quality was pretty awful. In terms of MOC design, how the leg and arm joints were built is pretty retarded. If you want a Vanguard Titan just get classic BT. If quality on this 4th BuildMOC one isn't hideous, thinking of just disassembling this first dumpster fire and getting a BuildMOC Ion so I'll have an Ion/Scorch/Vanguard/Northstar lineup.

Yeah, unless you have someone willing to sent it directly, i don't think there are any ways of getting one of theese sets outside of Russia now. Also, they are quite expensive - about 1,5-2x of comparable chinese sets from Sluban or Sembo.

Thanks for the suggestions. Surprisingly water did do the trick. You can still see the scratch, but the brown colouring is gone. It's much more manageable. Is there a way to get rid of the scratch completely do you think?

Weirdly, another piece came with what only looks like black ink over it. I tried soapy water but little specs remain.
Do you think the eraser sponge will come in handy here? With regards to cleaning alcohol, I have isopropyl, why do you suggest tiny amounts? Would too much discolour the piece?
