It's just baffling to me. It's fine if you just collect them, people collect useless things just because they like the feeling of collecting itself. Or if you buy a couple of toys from your childhood just to feel nostalgic or remember them.
But if you actually play with them there is something wrong with you. I can't picture a grown ass man playing with toys on his carpet or desk like a 10 year old would without seeing him as a fat autistic virgin. Literal Chris Chan tier. I stopped playing with toys by the time I was 12, and even then some people mocked me for being too old for them.

I have all my nice toys in Detolf cabinets and observe them like artworks. But occasionally I will still pick up my X-wing or Normandy and fly it around making whooooshing sounds. So I guess you get only a half-hearted fuck you.

I wouldn't really call thise toys though. They're, as you said, display pieces. Scale models as well, even my grandpa used to build those well into his 60s.
I'm talking about shit like transformers, barbies, marvel action figures, toy soldiers, etc.
