>>10698911It’s genuinely bizarre to me, and has been an aspect of the fanbase (most vocally the American fanbase) for as long as I can remember. It’s both an incredibly fucking stupid attitude - the property would not exist without Japanese toy designs, and the cartoon that those same fans demand slavishly accurate depictions of the characters from was also predominantly animated in Japan. As a fan of Microchange and Diaclone on top of Transformers, it’s intensely frustrating to me because I would like to see more from the Japanese side of the franchise in modern figures, Masterpiece, and third-party, and don’t get it because these wretched boomers only care about getting their ridiculous tooner toys from seasons 1 and 2 of the animated series. Maybe in ten years when they finally die off/retire, we can get some nostalgia for RID/Car Robots, Armada, and other neglected aspects of the franchise.
