It's unclear. About a dozen animals have been shown as part of Cyberzoic, be it through announcements or concept paintings, that were not included in the first Kickstarter (plus another dozen or so dragons). Of those, only Stegosaurus and Andrewsarchus have had their sculpts shown off. Pachycephalosaurus was said to be part of the first Kickstarter but never showed up. They might be some extras during the Backerkit phase, or even just separate releases, between now and 2025. We'll have to wait and see.

I know mattel is never gonna make toys of the detail level of the old line but they could at least do retro style ones we're never going to get out of this line; I don't care how accurate feathered raptors and inaccurate upright t-rexes are, I want something like origins that captures the look and feel of the original and this simply isn't really it, its a 'good enough', but thats it.

Cyberzoic and both are not toylines, they are somewhat movable statues. I too hope mattel brings back dinoriders. They've proven they can shit out endless new dinosaur molds for $10-20, which is great. A $10 dino paired with $10 armor and a $5 2 inch figure is all it would take to make a compelling toyline of stuff that you could actually play with.

David had said they would be back in September, but in the comic book update on the Cyberzoic Kickstarter he said Acro isn't coming until Cyberzoic II. Really fucking infuriating that he would lie about that and blue ball people who want the Acro for another 2 years. We might get the Andrewsarchus at least, since he said in the live stream that Beasts of the Cenozoic will be going straight to preorder and won't have a kickstarter.

I don't think he was lying, but rather they're running a slapdash company that can't always get everything done on time. He probably hoped it would be done, but something fucked up.

If anyone didn't listen to the Cyberzoic KS countdown podcast, seems like at least based on chat questions David is considering Spinosaurus, Therizinosaurus, and Ankylosaurus on top of the species we already know in the works (Pachy, Acrocanthosaurus, Stegosaurus, Andrewsuchus, Boreapelta, Saiciana).

In the long run, I think the armor and cyberzoic gimmick will taper off. Comic book is kinda dead medium. I don't see people shelling a lot of money for armor sets and the characters are not that interesting. Cyberzoic I has novelty but even then, are people seriously buying Allosaurus, Yutyranus, and Utahraptor tech sets? They all just visored dino armor that converts into hovercraft, looks very samey. The company is hard carried by paleonerds.

There are no realistic flying reptiles, but a couple of ai armors are somewhat modeled after them with the pyrodactyl armor and the tiny drone from the razorhound armor.

Not sure which marine reptiles would be reasonable for this like, maybe as a general beasts of the mesozoic release but not necessarily cyberzoic. I suppose something like a mosasaur or archelon could work

Out of all the tech clan sets in this kickstarter the only one I kind of like is the jet raptor, but I don't actually like the coloration of the Utahraptor so when I finalized my pledge I pretty much just stuck with Fire Clan stuff + Dino Riders homage exclusive.

I'm glad the Drypto and Yu have improved neck articulation, but they should have been straight-to-preorder figures like the BOTM Utahraptor. The Pachy and the Stego should have been included and now we won't see them for 2 fucking years.

It'll be near the end of the decade at this rate. By then, there'll be five or six completely new Spinosaurus proposals, each more outrageous than the last. Shortly after the toy is made (but before it gets into backer's hands), a 90% complete skeleton will be found, putting to rest all debate over how it looked while simultaneously showing how wrong every previous reconstruction was. Requests to change the sculpt will be refused as production will be too far along, but an updated sculpt will be included in Cyberzoic VII in 2036.

Who cares at best we won't see it for another 4-5 years cause Cyberzoic slows down the amount of Dinos and other creatures he can make at any on given time. Why is that the case you ask? Well considering the dozens of humans and armor sets with each dinosaur/animal plus the Dragons we were reduced to exactly 4 new species in this kickstarter and if we are lucky David will setup preorders in the Summer for Stegosaurus and Allosaurus fragilis figures along with possibly new offerings for the launch of the "Beasts of the Cenozoic" line as well but only if he can commit to everything offered in Cyberzoic and there aren't to many issues.

Full set looks like a winner. Damn a shame that it costs $1500. The only armor that is a bit mid in my opinion is Carnotaurus, it has no personality other than being black and purple (which is not the color palette of Fire Clan). I would've liked if it emphasizes Carnotaurus bizzare biology, emphasis the "Taurus" part, or the skinny speedy legs and tiny arm, instead of swallowing the dino and makes it into a generic armored theropod.

The full set is actually $1725 with shipping and tax. I ordered it. I’m just not interested in the yuttyranus and carnatosarus. Just design fatigue and that point. Too much of the same therapod shit. Personally I love the fire clan armor the most because it transforms into creatures. Tech clan armor transforming into vehicles is pretty neat too.

I mean, he's kind of right. When Mattel give you bigger and better looking dinosaurs with more functional articulation and they're licensed designs and they cost a fraction of yours, you know you fucked up somewhere
BOTMs really feel like they should be $50 figures, at most but $90 is actually on the low-end for the line. Pretty wild stuff
What these have going for them is trying to be more scientifically and anatomically accurate than the JP stuff but they're still not at a level that satisfies hardcore dinoheads who want fully feathered Rexes, for example. And I think Silva understands that on some level which is why he's moving into fantasy lines like Cyberzoic and those dragons. Probably a bigger market of people who just want cool-looking dinos than people who want extremely accurate but willing to settle for kind-of-accurate ones

I'm pretty sure the current belief is that Tyrannosaurus did not have extensive feathering. We have several skin impressions from Tyrannosaurus and closely-related species, none of which show any evidence of feathering. Yutyrannus was extensively feathered (and David's version of it is also extensively feathered), but it is only distantly related to Tyrannosaurus, was much smaller, and also lived in a much colder environment. Proto-feathers are likely ancestral to all dinosaurs, but so is fur in mammals yet we have mostly-naked elephants and rhinos. Larger dinosaurs likewise would have thinned out or completely lost their fuzz.

also i met silva last weekend at legionscon and he seemed like a prick. I went up excited about seeing the prototypes and everyone at the booth was being a standoffish douchebag. I mentioned I bought several of the figures from the campaign and congrats on the success bla bla and they didn't even seem receptive or want to talk about the line at all. this was on the first day too so you can't say that they were burnt out. Anyway, fuck this company and these figures, I won't be buying more.

I should mention that last time I checked with anons, most of them were still on the belief of fully-feathered Rexes or at least that was the big debate between people who wanted figures depicting that and those who wanted full featherless so that's why I brought those up
If they're really as scientifically accurate as you can get then I guess I can see why people go for these instead of alternatives but I still feel Silva is seeing the potential in a more casual market that just wants cool dinos and dragons than the scientifically accuracy aspect
But there's room for both so it's not a big deal

How many years ago was that? The Bell et al. paper showcasing scaly tyrannosauridae skin impressions came out in 2017.

Adventure force has a line at Walmart right now that is perfect but only three predator dinosaurs which is lame. Our favorite Dino’s are:

>triceratops, trex, stegosaurus, ankleyosaurus, spinosaurus, and any sauropods

Would be looking for all of those first and happy if the line has at least those covered.

Mattel JP brand is your best bet. They have all you want, decently articulated, and even gigantic sauropods. The mid-size dinos get on clearance for 10-12 bucks pretty often and decently sized. I think the name of the mid size line is Roar Strikers.

100% Mattel. Cheap enough, reasonably durable, have a good variety of species. Not always great accuracy to what the animals looked like, but usually close enough that it's fine. They have some plushies in the range for softness. Plus, you can buy them in your local toy shop or even the toy aisle in a large supermarket.

Every time I am about to pull the trigger and buy the 1/18 raptors and army build with them I look at the price tag again, and go "These are not $25 figures" and not buy them. So many of the figures just don't feel like they should be anywhere near as expensive as they are. The 30-dollar Deinonychus is bad on its own, but it makes the 1/18 raptors look even worse.

If these little dudes were 16 bucks instead of 26, I'd army build with them like I did with the Hammond collection raptors. As it stands though, getting just the three different colors of Velociraptor and ignoring the other Dromies costs $77 plus tax and shipping and like you said, the price is just too high
