Advice on Cleaning & Preservation

No.10716070 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Just pulled picrel and a few others out of some sealed plastic tubs after about 12 years and would really like to do a better job preserving them. Right now I have found:
>doubles of pretty much the entire og TMNT line, loose
>beast wars, loose
>a couple beast wars NIB
>Some G1, loose
>12" GI Joe/Action Man dolls + accessories, loose
Most are in good shape but a few somehow got dusty and a little sticky (plasticizers, i guess) like picrel. I'm under no illusion any of these are worth any money, I'm just preserving for sentimental reasons and enjoyment. Plan is currently to repack them and store in a low-humidity closet. I only really have experience preserving comics, so any advice on the following is greatly appreciated:
>best way to clean away the sticky residues on figure surfaces?
>best ways to store/archive them with zero-to-minimal degradation for at least 10-15 years? Any brands/types of buckets, sleeves, bags, etc. that will work well?

also general preservation thread, I guess.
