>>10725468Ok, first off I want to make it clear that I don't own any 1/6 figures.
However I have been collecting, reading and on this board for a while and I have watched a lot of YT vids thaqt feature 1/6.
So here is my take:
Initially 1/6 figures had better articulation and range of movement.
They had better, and more realistic, sculpts, especially for the face.
They were the only way to get figures with real clothing.
They included far more accessories.
The gold standard used to be HotToys. They were basically photo-real copies of characters from movies and many of them had rubber and leather included in their clothing or bodies.
The Phicen seamless catered to a very specific niche of collector.
Also, almost all designer-figures came in 1/6, so if you wanted an awesome unique figure design made by popular urban artists then that was all you could get.
Then things changed and suddenly 3rd party companies, mostly chinese, started making 1/12 scale clothed figures with excellent sculpts and lots of accessories.
Then Mezco came on the market and the American domestic market sat up and took notice.
Then other companies like SHF, Revoltech and Sentinel started releasing figures with amazing articulation that blew anything 1/6 out of the water.
Then some started releasing clothing for their figures and better accessories.
Finally, Phicen jumped into the 1/12 market and designer toys like DevilToys realised there was a market in 1/12.
Now things have flipped. 1/6 are still mostly superior in terms of realism, mostly due to the scale. But many 1/12 figures boast far superior articulation, especially compared to the limitations of HotToys.
There are a comparable number of excellent 1/12 clothed figures available now with lots of accessories.
In the end it comes down to preference. You will rarely find anything in 1/6 that doesn't have a 1/12 analogue now.
1/12 is more affordable, but 1/6 are more impressive for displays.
