>>10738567>Why do people keep saying McFarlanes have bad poseability? Their main failing is poorly engineered ab crunches with zero range and restrictive diaper cuts, but those can both be remedied to some degree, and everything else is usually pretty good.I was once of the mindset--it has all the same articulation besides thigh swivels and the ab crunches dont go forward well. But that's it, other than that they have double jointed elbows, knees, pseudobutterflies, etc as MLs do so it should mostly pose just as well.
However, when I tried to duplicate some human poses with mcfarlanes, they just look off, inhuman, not natural. Like a puppet trying to imitate a human. With Marvel Legends, it can be done and you can get something that looks moderately realistic. Not a mafex tier or the like mind you. But not weird and unnatural.
I think it has to do with the sculpts being cut up uncritically to make the articulation rather than doing a second pass after cutting it up to make sure it 1. looks good when articulated to avoid those giant cavities in the elbows, etc, 2. has the range to make the joint useful and natural.
For example I have some mcfarlanes that when kneeling one leg bows out to the side (and can't get any further inwards due to the diaper shape) and then the other leg's foot can't even reach the ground. the figure can't even do a kneeling pose and no one checked it before putting this figure out there.
