I really don't believe most figures have "ugly joints" (especially on the japanese side of collecting). Gawr gura only has a small fold in the arm, and compared to older figures this is very reasonable. Unless theres a huge gap, theres really not a huge problem.
Largely the people complaining about this only started collecting in recent years.
