Ironically that’s why I want the hurdy-gurdy: it’s cheaper and easier to use (once built) than a professional hurdy-gurdy.

I've gotten a few of these as gifts and they're a big pain in the ass to assemble typically. Very sturdy once you have it done though

As for sound though, I've done everything I can to improve the sound but it still sounds like I'm strangling a mosquito :(

Just looked up some reviews. Accurate description of the sound. Still, considering real-deal hurdy-gurdies are hundreds at the cheapest and I just want to give it a try learning the instrument, this kit is as low cost as it’ll get just to see if I want to take the plunge in learning an intricate instrument.

What did you do to improve the sound?

You'd be better off just building your own. Look up homemade "symphonia," it's basically a hurdy gurdy but in a rectangular body so it's much simpler to make.

I randomly bought also a dog,tiger,Lion, goat and rooster. The latter, format has googly eyes, witch looks weird, and the rooster is named Cock. These Chinese not giving a damn.

I was given this as a birthday gift. The axles were particularly difficult to put together, and the rubber band didn't seem to have enough strength to power the whirly bit unless I reached inside and tugged on the cord. Looks beautiful even broken down though
