Any suggestions for an Airwolf toy? I dont want build the Aoshima Im looking something like a diecast 1/48. Can you help this boomer out?

What size?

Tomica has a small diecast one, Aoshima has both the diecast and plastic models in 1/48 and AMT/ERTL had a plastic model from the 1980s and 1990s also in 1/48, that can be found for as low as $15.

There is also a plastic model made by Idea of South Korea.

Also Vario make 1/6 scale bodies for radio control helicopters and Eachine makes a micro size "semi scale" Airwolf model.

Aoshima also make models of Blue Thunder.

I remember having a diecast airwolf as a child in the 80s that was about 10 inches maybe from nose to tail. I didn't even watch the show, I just thought helicopters and wolves were cool.

Blue Thunder was its own franchise in the 1980s. The film (which was rated R) spawned a lot of toys and even a series (which was cancelled after 13 episodes). I know a guy who has a shelf with all of the 80s and 90s "helicopters in television" (Airwolf, Blue Thunder, Screaming Mimi from Riptide, T.C's Chopper from Magnum P.I and a couple of Santini Air Jet Rangers).

I would recommend you to watch the film for Blue Thunder, anon. There is some good action in it.

I might buy a radio control helicopter and get a body shell to convert it into Airwolf.

The Thunder Blade vidya games are also unlicensed Blue Thunder products. How the hell they got away with this since the design is a bespoke modified Gazelle is beyond me, but they did.

No. I can see a few plastic models on eBay for under $50, though. Maybe try Yahoo Shopping or Auctions for a cheaper version, or you could see if any local plastic modellers would be willing to build the kit (check with the local IPMS chapter).

If he is a purist, OP would need an extra part for the nose and a new set of sponsons. The 222 is good for RedWolf, though since the only difference is the missile pod at the bottom.

I had the Airwolf and Blue Thunder models as a kid. I was terrible with models back then. Unpainted bare plastic etc. I was both fascinated and disappointed that Airwolf was just a Bell 222B with extra bits. But they gave you instructions to build and paint both. Today, what I have remaining is the Airwolf box which I use to store electronic parts, and the Blue Thunder helmet, which fits this tiny 2cm polar bear I have.
