I disagree. Kids were excited about things they actually liked. I would've never begged my parents to buy me garbage like amongus as a kid or go to some place 'cause of random branding. I nagged them to have characters I liked from TV shows I followed. Kids don't even seem to be able to follow a show these days, it's pretty depressing. I have nephews and I could see first-hand how their innate desire to learn degraded since they were handled tablets. Kids have no curiosity or interest in anything by the time they learn to operate a device. They watch cartoons on TV but can't even name a character, if you ask them who's their favorite they shrug and go "iunno". I know for a fact that I wasn't a fucking zombie at that age. I had favorite characters and villains and I followed the stories and made up my own when I played. Kids don't do this anymore.

I just realized this is what Meatwad was most likely based on. He has to be, right? I always thought he didn't fit in with the fast food theme of ATHF, what kind of fast food item is a wad of meat? In the US they redesigned all their locations to look like a weird combination of a cafe and a school cafeteria, lowered the quality and sizes of their food, never seem to have anyone working the register, and now they've been jacking up the prices above other fastfood places. The $16 a meal thing is mostly just California but its nearly as bad in other states. In mind a medium quarter pounder meal is like $12 and its smaller than it was back when it was less than $10.

Australian here, I always eat ramen as my go to fast food and at 14 ausbucks I dont consider it cheap. My asian friend for some unfathomable reason still gives a shit about Maccas food and dragged me to one. Hadnt eaten at one in 5 years, every meal was easily 20 bucks, I was stunned by how fucking overpriced that is when I can get top restaurant quality food for that money.

Back in 2007 Hong Kong McD’s still did. It was the same as the old US ones with that square cake with yellow frosting and those solid sugary pieces on it. Plus costume characters come out for the party. I thought it was fucking awesome and wanted to celebrate my 25th that way. Everyone I mentioned it to thought it was either nuts or awesome. The manger came out to fill out the form and was asking how old the kid was but I’m like it’s for me. They refused as did the 6 others I tried.

They also had videos that came on at 6 til like 11 that featured Moonman. Also had a themed menu around him.
