I can see new collector figures having beef with older toys that end up abandoned as the owner grows, especially fi the former ends up boxed in plain view. Unable to move around while also being neglected. Lozaus made a decent series with that idea before it went to shit. I wonder how well I could do at a living toys story.
I was thinking about something along these lines the other day, making the protagonists of Toy Story average for dolls and plushies was the best option for the plot. Small figures like new Gi.Joes would struggle to live through the extrme adventures they got into, on the other hand were they any larger they'd be unable to hide while also trivializing most opponents. Same goes for humanoid shape. All the characters with different shapes and unconventional sizes are side characters that show up for certain scenes and go back to the sidelines after. Making movies around them would be harder, not to mention merchandise might not sell as well.
