If the Monsterarts actually matches the promos and isn't full of QC issues, it's a pretty easy win for it imo
I wish they had come out with these things back when I was starting my collection because now I don't have any room left for big-ass dragons like this. Maybe if they make some of the humanoid monsters I'll be able to squeeze them in somewhere but even then I dunno

They may be dead. They didn't announce anything new as far as I could see. However they kind of dropped the Yugioh stuff on us without warning so maybe they are still making stuff. I liked their minifigures personally, so hope we get more of them.

That's fair. I haven't played in some time, and don't recognize these more recent monsters. Does the game even play the same? I see that there are no stars and no Def on that card. Definitely a lot of newer keywords in there. Always interested to learn more if there are good designs accompanying it.

There's been more of a push toward having both players play during each other's turns rather than having somebody build a board and waiting for the opponent to respond on their turn. Accesscode is a really popular boss monster because he cuts your opponent off from responding when he hits the field. As for the lack of stars and def on him. Link monsters have a link rating based off of the number of monsters needed to summon them. Accesscode is a link 4, so he has 4 arrows on him, which link monsters need to chain themselves out of the extra monster zone, as they normally can't be summoned to the main zone. Because positioning is really important for their type, they can't be placed in defense to change where their arrows point.

This guy looking like a cross between Stryfe from Darksiders and Beelzemon. What an edgy fuck, but I'd almost definitely grab a kit. Also this guy feels a lot more like an older style YGO monster than the pure mecha of that other one, though with a clearly unique flair comparatively. And enjoying figures of a property doesn't have to be us vs them all the time, people are free to enjoy both or either. Plus it seems like Bandai is going for the more original monsters, while the other companies are making the more modern stuff, so products for everyone.

These all have some pretty cool designs, but I have to say that the names have very little charm. Maybe it's because these are specific keywords that make sense in the game, like Accesscode, Link, Firewall, but they kind of sound dumb. They just feel very 'systematically' built, rather than fun and random like Catapult Turtle.

That said, a lot of the older names are absolute ass too. Probably nostalgia that makes some of them sound good, aside from actually good names like Exodia.

Nah, even people still following the game didn't like the Vrains era. It probably had the most blatant corporate meddling out of any Yugioh era. That extra monster zone mentioned in >>10772871 was originally for every mechanic that comes from the extra deck, but they couldn't link out of it since they didn't have link arrows. For the entirety of master rule 4, you had to play link monsters if you wanted to summon more than one fusion/synchro/xyz monster at once.

Then the anime itself got completely thrown out and rebuilt from the ground up to pander to Duel Links players after the game exploded in popularity. It was originally going to be about some shy kid learning to come out of his shell after making friends in VR, but the Playmaker we got was some angry autist that wants revenge because some scientist kidnapped him as a child and forced him to play Yugioh in VR.

This is my take. I appreciate that the yugiboomer stuff is still the iconic stuff and what the game is based on but the bottom line is that has been all we've ever gotten for basically years on end.
Since I still play the game I really appreciate that we are finally getting toys and figures based off the modern game and designs. accesscode, the rokket stuff, the live twins, the zeus model kit, etc. I wholeheartedly welcome it after like 20 years of nothing but DMG figures and god cards

That's more an issue of companies playing it safe on the same 3 monster cards for the last 20 years. I'm a yugiboomer and there's so much more stuff I would have liked to see beyond the most obvious of choices. There's dozens of iconic ones they could have tackled.

Blame Arc-V for shitting the bed too. The original Vrains pitch was basically about Entame dueling from Arc-V called Charisma Dueling. Arc-V falling apart the way it did probably had an effect on Vrains production. Go Onizuka and Blue Angel were leftovers from that concept.

We have one Yami figma, one Kaiba figma, one DMG figma, one Playmaker figma, one Vulcanlog Yugi, Kaiba, DM and Blue-Eyes all made to coincide with the movie they're based on
GX and 5d's weren't represented but now they're getting stuff too
If we're counting statues or general merch then yeah it's pretty much all Blue-Eyes, God Cards and Yugi plus Kaiba

Oh yeah, that would have been cool. If you haven't seen what happens in that duel yet, he gets his come-uppance with how he treated his DM later on in the duel. Its a neat twist. I think the anime toned down the duel quite a bit though.

I imagine a lot of people in this thread collect the cards too. I have been collecting the Pot and Jar cards, as well as any Goblin of Greed cards. A Goblin of Greed figure of some sort would be fun. Him and Pot of Greed appear in like close to 30 different card artworks, probably the most re-appearances of any monster (except maybe Gagagigo and/or Maurading Captain).

I think we need Exodia sooner rather than later. Whether this is an SHF (akin to the kaiju from Ultraman) or an SHM he's definitely one of the most iconic monsters. The god cards would also probably be quite small, and if they're not, I doubt we get all of them all that soon. I'd like to see more of the smaller standard and popular monsters like Jinzo, Summoned Skull, maybe even Gaia, among others. Also excited to see what Revoltech gets up to after Neos.

Compared to a regular figure, yes, but the FRS models are fairly standard. I have a bunch of the Digimon ones and they feel pretty good. Still a bit light feeling, but the articulation is well done. I initially skipped out on the Exodia because I don't like the proportions, but I feel like I need to support this one.

I assume SHF would handle Duelists and humanoid monsters, while SHMA would handle the literally more monstrous ones. It'd be great if there were concurrent releases, like Yugi and DM, Joey and Flame Swordsman, but that might be too much for a yet untested line. I'd think people would fall into 2 main camps, those who want both and those who would want the monsters (or maybe just duelists if they're satisfied with whatever else they have already), so doing this should appease both. Yugi and DM together, if only to start things slow, are a no brainer, and with Blue-Eyes out, Kaiba makes sense to. Battle Ox was quite signature for him but he doesn't really have any iconic humanoid monster that I recall.

Honestly only Yami and DMG are good. Kaiba figma had a QC issue with the eyes where they wouldn't slot all the way in and it really threw off the whole appearance and likeness. I'm sure most will still say it's better than the Vulcanlog but I decided to just go without it because I couldn't get over his face looking so off
The extra face he came with for Yami also had the same QC where figma Yami's eyes wouldn't slot in properly compared to the original

I have a handful of these little guys and I love them. Also love the Digimon ones. I wish we got more of these little variety monster packs, it's just fun to collect such a variety. Also that was a cool DMG kit. Funny that with so many options for her I never bothered getting any. I'm sure there will be more.

Also I hope after that hug she dusts the poor little guy off.

I've wanted the duelists for so long that I don't really care anymore. At this point I'm more interested in how we're starting to get monster figures that didn't belong to a major Duel Monsters character. If you had gone back a few years and told me Neos, I:P Masquerena, ZEUS, and Accesscode where getting figures I would have called you a liar. Yeah the monsters are from the 5Ds series. I am not that familiar with them either.
I don't care much about the duelist either and would rather get more monsters. However, if they made a Yami Marik figure with his wild expressions I would want that.

Anyone with the Crossframe DMG, would you recommend her? Debating whether I should buy her or not. It's possible an SHF shows up, but even if it does the Crossframe does have a few options that could differentiate it, like no shoulder pads, no hat, etc.

The Figma? Around there, the model kit is around 4k-5k yen. Much more reasonable I think. I also like that the gems are translucent, and I don't mind painting on the details on the want, the book, and probably giving her a slight wash for some depth. I remember thinking Figma DMG was too pricey when she was released, and looking back the prices were around 7k yen. Crazy how times have changed.
