It's so fucking embarrassing how people are being so willfully obtuse deliberately missing the point.
Yes, Creator 3 in 1 has had fucking brickbuilt giant display objects and animals in the past. No, Creator 3 in 1 was not all about minifigure-scale playsets. NO FUCKING SHIT!
However there used to be some room in the line for minifigure-scale playsets which was often the only avenue in the entire modern Lego lineup that captures some of the essence of traditional themes us classic fans tend to connect with by:
- focusing on imaginative scenarios not bound by the limitations of City(or other modern themes)
while
- focusing on more generic multipurpose pieces and simpler "blockier" designs that are less overdetailed and overspecialized
while
- having no stickers
while
- not ridiculously expensive and overdesigned like the nostalgiabait they put out specifically for classic fans (Like the Castle or the Eldorado Fortress)
while
- still being first and foremost designed like a relatively simple children's toy to be interacted with
while
-promoting MOC-making

So why the fuck are you trying to blame us for being disappointed that this time around there is NOT A SINGLE minifigure-scale playset? Damn your excuses and justifications - "Hurr these dust collectors sells better, they are not meant for you" I'm not a fucking marketer, I'm not Lego trying to maximize profits, so of fucking course I'm coming from the standpoint of a fan of what Lego used to be.
As the upcoming lineup shows it's not a matter of there being room for everyone where expanding and pandering to a different audience doesn't interfere with the preestablished one. Despite how big Lego is they still have limited space and limited resources so naturally they are gonna lean towards what makes more money and follow that direction so don't fucking tell me I shouldn't possibly feel disappointed.

Is this an official lego render? It doesn't look like it. As a sailer this layout hurts. It's like they couldn't decide if it was a monoslug with no headsail or a motorsailer. The position of the mast and companionway is idiotic and looks like crap. At least it doesn't get the chance to be as poorly rigged as this thing. One of these days I should moc something with functional rigging.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I really like the idea of these relatively cheap MightyMax-style sets as a concept and would love to see it expanded to non-licensed non-friends stuff.

If Lego doesn't want to commit to go all in and take the risk of truly reviving old themes it would be neat if they at least did a wave of something like these little things where each set encapsulates a classic theme - one for space, castle, pirates, adventurers...
I'm sure the fans would eat it up

Same. I bought the Divination Classroom Hogwarts Moments set last year and the entire design and concept of it blew me away with how neat it was. The way everything was designed to stack back into itself to fit back into the book formfactor was some 300IQ shit.
I picked up the banners over the Black Friday period and they're a lot less clever in the design but the concept of "a wall decoration which is also a playset" is genius.

I was thinking that they should do them for the unlicenced themes like Ninjago or Monkie Kid, but the idea of doing them for the classic themes is even smarter. Hopefully the "Lego Icons Moments" has some sets of that type thrown in to, the sharing of the "Moments" in the subtheme has me hopin'

I've been saying this shit since day one. They should have a theme of fun literature classics that lend themselves well to lego play- 20000 leagues under the sea, the lost world, sherlock holmes, any number of fun adventure/sci fi books from the 20th century

yup. i'm doing the Nod vehicles in gray because that's the color used in the campaign. the first game is funny like that, GDI is gold in all the games, and nod is red in the rest of the games, but tiberium dawn used a mix of gray for the vehicles, and red for the buildings. However, in skirmish mode you can only pick one color, which sucks. mods like DTA and OpenRA just make Nod red though. and i'm pleased to announce you can make the buggy in red if you please, here's peek at what it looks like. I try to use common-ish parts in my MOCs so color swapping is feasible.

Fortnite might be fun for minifig parts since they have crazy designs.

Sonic and Animal Crossing were expected but I am really disappointed by Animal Crossing's execution. I can't wait to see what characters they pick for both and I'd love to see more sets based on other Genesis levels not just Green Hill Zone, like Casino Night Zone. Also Chao Garden.

I don't really care about anything else here even if I loved LotR and BtAS.

1. Obesity isn't a disability, it's the result of bad habits and shouldn't be encouraged.
2. Prints and slightly modified arms and legs are cheap and easy. For waddling hambeasts you'd need a whole new minifig design. Not worth the expense.

I hate to admit it but those of us who grew up with the prequels liked them where as OG fans did not. The same with these newest Star Wars films. Perhaps they are marketing towards the zoomers and gen alpha that saw them as children. That’s how they get you, when you are a child you’ll absorb anything as gospel. There’s like 1 person here that got into Lego as an adult while the rest of us are only here because we loved legos as kids .

Hachiroku24 and Mishima Productions occasionally will have videos of mocs with interesting techniques and combinations

Galactic Plastics is GOATed, possibly the most talented MOCCer of all time, though uploads are understandably like 2-3 times a year.

I was much more into watching them as a kid than now, but if you like stop motions then Keshen8 will always be my personal favorite. His call of duty lego video is legendary.

The normal PaB portion of the service is down. Only the bestseller (Chicago plant) is active. The majority of parts aren’t “bestseller”. Going to have to wait for early January before it returns. Sad because PaB is the best thing Lego has.

So to answer your question, the worst sets I've bought with the lowest margins are probably some of the Brickheadz shelfwarmers. But it's still easy to make a few bucks off them to be worth it, and plus I get to rack up insider points and reach gwp thresholds with them.

Minecraft is the only theme that gets actual good locations and landscapes. Everything else is always vehicles. I liked this theme a lot.
I honestly would like dinosaur sets more if they were brickbuilt. The specialized moulds get a huge tax anyway and are embarrassingly immobile for their size. It's also just more "lego" to... build... the model. Well, it means I don't have to buy any of them so that's fine with me.

I happened to stumble on a vlog about the Orient Express, and i can kinda see why the Lego set changed so drastically. the (current) Orient Express isn't about the locomotives anymore, and is more about the cars themselves. If i was Lego, i'd probably just remove the whole engine and give the set three cars instead; one for sleeping quarters, one for the Club Car, and one for the Diner Car. the Ideas submission was depicting the train as it was decades ago, but the license holders want it to be based on the current iteration, hence the change.

tl;dr blame executive meddling why the Orient Express set is shit.

That is very valid and I get it, and I have to admit when I scrolled and saw the dino island sets I thought "hey these are really nice", so I think a big part for me is also the style of the current dinos. I like the car itself actually. The built in stud shooters on the front are cool and the general design is what I favor over Speed Champions. Wish they would do some kind of battle car series, something in the vane of GTA or the like. 2K Drive is close but not what I was looking for. I might have to cobble together that spider car for myself, just with more matching parts and no web printing.

I think $60 would be fair desu. People are complaining about the small piece count but conveniently ignore the fact that most of the pieces are large or very large. Four minifigures is also somewhat luxurious for a Marvel set that is not $100+. I'm not saying $60 would be a good deal but it would be reasonable. $85 is a ripoff however, I agree.

Something that probably didn't affect anyone here but Lego Explore which was them getting rid of the Duplo and Primo brands for a while and throwing all kinds of stuff into one theme, including shit that isn't even Lego-compatible.
This alienated customers who also wondered where the familiar red Duplo rabbit went and was one of the main reasons for the financial issues Lego had in the 2000s.

Whenever I come to a point like this I think, yeah, this is doable but this takes like thousands of pieces to achieve something so small. There are hobby modelers that don't use lego and sometimes they even use real tiny stone bricks and it's still easier, quicker, cheaper and more realistic than this. Using Lego to built stuff like this in this way is the most complicated, expensive and timecomsuming way.

It tracks. Asteroid Discovery shows them converting the crystals they mine into batteries. And I noticed those purple cylinders are attached to pretty much all the vehicles and even some of the robots.
