I think the only reason roddy has yellow nylon at all is because they wanted his spoiler to be a sturdier material, and the other parts are mostly interal anyway so it wouldn't be a big deal

Not unpaintable but really hard to paint even for toy companies with access to the industrial toxic stuff. Example of it being painted is siege Apeface's purple chest, even that is kept far away from any hinges because it'll chip.

You don't even need to sand it. Just buy some Tamiya spray primer and use that before you paint it.

SOURCE: I used it on Legacy Armada Megatron to paint the other half of his orange runway thing.

Sure. Bonus: Prime with Sixshot and a tiny Megatron knife + shoulder joints. Whoever told me I should get Sixshot a couple weeks ago, thank you. The pegs are a bit tough to keep in place since they seem too small in most figures, but they kinda balance out.

I can assure you, the inner parts of his shoulder pauldrons are nylon. I tried using just bright orange Tamiya spray on them first and while it stuck, it took like 5 coats just to show up as a decent match. Stripping with alcohol and then redoing with white primer and then a coat on top took one try each.

Thanks! And yeah the thought crossed my mind but I figured I didn't want to make any extra work. The primer made the paint ever so slightly off and I didn't want to have to be annoying about color matching both sides. This way it's broken up enough that you almost can't even tell and almost looks official.

100% agree, but I just like how he looks aesthetically. I almost was able to forgive the shoulders, but that budget cut coupled with both hollow forearms and no minicon kind of sent me over the edge. Adding 3D printed shoulder joints unironically made him a pretty nice figure imo.

I don't argue that he was lacking. I'm still debating buying those 3D printed forearm fillers since I don't feel like modeling my own. I just hate the guy that makes them all because he doesn't bother printing in anything other than white and then painting it with the flakiest paint I've ever seen. I only know this because I bought his shoulder joints while I was trying to calibrate my printer and also learning that he doesn't transform correctly with those particular joints. The paint is so low quality and he doesn't even color match.

I can understand one shortcoming, but all 3 of them and then his fusion gimmick is literally just removing his stupid barrel tip is just so funny. Aesthetically he looks great, but as an action figure/toy he is lacking.

His missile launcher can't even flip over in tank mode. and they really couldn't, at least, include his knife.

They also could've molded the cannon barrel so when it splits, it can look like two guns but they didn't. Just dumb decisions.

He's an overpriced voyager with shit shoulders. The hollow forearms and weird hand gimmick may have been forgivable if it were needed for the Tidal Wave combination, but it's not.

Saw stress marks on my Armada Primes leg shin panel and someone told me a hair dryer would fix it. Let me tell you not to do that because I just fucked up a perfectly good figure that would have surely broken from dogshit QC issues in the future. Now I can’t even bend the elbow. I would've preferred they do Tidal Wave as a Commander.
>Leader Armada Megs is already transparently built to be anime accurate since his only gimmicks are the papoose cannon and the barest hint of minicon functionality if you have Earthrise micromasters, and Commanders tower over leaders just fine.
>The only scale to justify a Titan Tidal Wave with is the PS2 game or the IDW comics, but they were too cowardly to give him the toy/game accurate colors or make him turn into a weirdly verbose whale.

Try to find a junker from someone who had a different QC problem, then do the necessary surgery and do what you want with the rest of the junker.
And for future reference, never trust anyone who ever suggests using a hair dryer for anything other than that bendy safety-measure plastic that they use for antennas and smokestack, especially if they don't specify how much heat to use. Generally the shin panels work best if you press down as close to the joint as possible without just pushing on the joint itself to distribute the pressure where it needs to be and avoid warping anything.

If it's the shin flap piece you were suppose to disassembled the legs and sanded down the peg the shin flap piece slots into so that you can move it without worrying about breaking it. On my copy the left leg was really tight so I had to do that to loosen it so it wouldn't break in the future. Hasbro's QC is a bitch.

Thanks fellas. I panic-purchased a new one from Amazon. Generally I was very delicate with moving the tabs, but they still got stress marks. I had this figure knowing it had this QC issue, but noticed that one side had stress marks.

Please don't judge me, but if I'm feeling I want my money back, I'm likely gonna pull a scAmazon and just return the figure with the melted piece back. Dunno if they're keeping track of me on their site with the returns, but I already returned one with a legit QC issue on purchase.

I'll probably do the sanding of the post thing that I saw. I was originally going to do that but wanted to try the heat thing and while it worked on the specific shin part, as soon as I pulled back and looked at the arm, I realized I not only fixed my issue, but created a whole other one.

I'll try my luck with this new one. Funny that this is happening because the first one I got had no QC issues on this particular part, but had a "soft" ratchet problem in the shoulders and the trailer part had a dislocated spring mechanism for the tabs of the super mode.

It fucking sucks because this figure really is awesome, but riddled with QC issues it seems.

If it turns out anything like what i've experienced, Amazon will check but then just dump it on someone else's doorstep. I ordered the Amazon Springer, got one with shit legs, then got another one the next day (with no charge to my account) and it happened to be a very obvious return that rattled around in the box, with a shit torso and a missing rib flap and sword, but had good legs.
I was able to put together a working figure between the two AND I got to keep the accessories for both to give to the other randos in my collection.

The prices are hovering around that area. Someone on TFW a few weeks ago said that Amazon sometimes put up like battered box ones from the warehouse that go for way less, but I'm at the point where it's pointing me to Amazon UK warehouse when I go to order. He is in short supply for "new" unfortunately. That's why I really panicked.

I dunno why I fucking did it either. I work with 3D printing on the daily. I know that heat will melt plastic. I guess I'm just using it in a slightly different context. I also was in a bit of a panic because I noticed the white stress marks and that basically made me throw all reason and logic out the window.

Also it's probably salvageable, if I understand the issue. whatever bent can bend back, but it will be brittle forever and probably never quite look right.
action figures are made of such soft plastic these days and have so many tiny thin joints that stress is just part of collecting for me.

Okay tysm, luckily mine doesn't have any stress marks there on either side of the panel. Moving the panel does indeed feel a bit tight, but like, it doesn't seem terrible.

i saw one person even saying a second edition prime ratchet (no box) sells for $60, wtf? i recently sold a complete one at 15 and it took a couple of days too

Alrighty then, I'm loving Deathsaurus the poo eater. He's fucking huge for one (apparently he's about a big as Devastator which means Core Class figures are in scale), all his accessories are massive, and his throne looks like an evil prolapse.
The only thing I don't like is how hard his butterfly joints are to unclip(?), those fucking chickasarus arms are goofy af, I'm so scared of scratching all that chrome and silver paint, his left shoulder doesn't have the hidden 5mm port, and his tail is pretty plain.

Other than that, while playing with him it felt like I was 3 or 4 playing with G1 hand-me-downs, which was nice.

Kind of insane this guy is less than Armada Prime right now. I don't even know if he's worth it either since he's the most recent "least cheap looking" out of the Titans. Ross has been a roller coaster in my area. Week before Black Friday I find Cosmos and all of wave one and two Deluxe of the Walmart deluxes for $8. So, when we finally got pics of Crimsonflame, I went and tracked down a Skullitron for a decent price; honestly, he's one I've had my eye on for ages (it was between him and Steelbane at the time, and the latter was easier for me to find back then), so this was a long time coming. I honestly like his colors better than Steelbane's - the copper paint (meant to be rust) looks awesome on him, and I never realized until actually holding him in-hand that he has Cybertronian writing on his right wing.
His robot mode head is pretty creepy - half of his face has rusted away, and the mouthplate that covers the faces of the other knights is completely gone, revealing a skull-like grin (hence his name); his one remaining eye is red, which is weird, because it was blue in the film. He also only comes with only one sword when he dual-wielded a pair in the movie, so I'll have to find him a second blade later. Another weird thing is that his box has him labeled as a Decepticon (and I'm pretty sure Steelbane was labeled as an Autobot, despite them being on the same team), which also isn't true to the film - while Skullitron did indeed attack Mark Wahlberg's character in the film, it was because A) Cade had just woken him up for the first time in centuries by climbing on his face and poking around inside his noggin and B) he assumed he was a thief (and cade didn't bother trying to explain the situation). Whatever the case, he's not intended to be one of the bad guys, and he's a Knight of Iacon just like Steelbane, Dragonicus, and Stormreign (who's toys all released at the same time), so it's a little odd. Poor guy was literally just doing his job and got branded a Decepticon by the marketing department.

Wyvern mode. Again, the copper paint looks really neat on this mold; sadly, his tongue wasn't painted. Surprisingly (and a little ironically), Skullitron is actually less floppy and loose than Steelbane - his shoulders lock in place a lot better, and he can hold poses with no issue. Hopefully Crimsonflame will hold up as well (if not better), considering he doesn't have those heavy wings on his arms like Skullitron and Steelbane do.
Anyway, that's all I got - I finally have both knight dragons (though I still don't have Dragonicus and Stormreign, AKA Dragonstorm, though I don't think I'll bother unless a better version ever appears, which is extremely unlikely all these years later), and the paint apps really make him stand out. For all the mold's flaws, I still think they're both pretty cool, especially in dragon mode - it's just too bad we never actually saw either of them transform in the actual movie.

Yeahhhh...I had some like 18 Bezos bux on my Amazon rewards so I think it was really a no-brainer. Carted him for about 20 minutes to debate and then bought it. I plan on buying Tidal Wave as well. I don't even have any attachments to the UT Trilogy but this Metroplex kind of had me intrigued. He looks like he has some of the best articulation of any of the Titans so far and the G1 ones really don't interest me sadly. Something about this figure just looks really fucking cool. NTA, but it's definitely rust. All of the knights in the movie were silver and looked identical to the one on the right. 'Skullitron' was the only one who was rusted up and falling apart, because he was the only one not sleeping in a pod.

Given how they've already redone some of the Botcon characters, maybe they could redo the Cindersaur that was based off of his cancelled G2 design? They already have the Kingdom Megatron mold and STILL haven't used T-Wrecks' proper head sculpt despite the mold existing.

In all seriousness tho (NTA also), but I think the tweaked proportions works for the art itself. It doesn't quite perfectly match the proportions of the real toy, but I'm expecting it to be idealized, it's glamour shot art. I think it works well at what it's doing and looks nice, don't really agree that the points you mentioned make it look bad.

The whole set throne and stand included is about titian sized, but Deathsaurus himself is about Jetfire sized.

My only qualms with him are that the inside of the shield looks like shit, his feet are rather restricted forward and back and he really needs some face options.

The living metal destroyer cannon could use a bit of paintwork on the organic bits too, but it's fine. I do wish his mace could connect to it too to reference the toys mace gun.

Deathsaurus is really good though, I'd almost say he's the best figure hasbro has ever released, and I almost want to see what he'd be like with another 50$ worth of development.

Alternative faces really would've done a lot for Deathsaurus, it's a real shame that for a foot tall 180 burger figure he lacks something so simple that would add so much
If a third party made an alternate head with face swapping ability I'd buy it in a heartbeat (assuming his face isn't a seperate part) but knowing them we'll probably just get idw slop
Deeper elbows would be nice too, they're not pinned so the bicep parts would be easy to replace

Tarantulas is more or less the single best adaptation of a Beast Wars character they've put out to date, with Blackarachnia coming in a close second just for actually being able to pull off her impossible transformation from the cartoon. Other than that useless chainsaw that's supposed to be a weird reference to his Transmetal form, he's pretty much perfect and definitely worth picking up.

His knees don't bend backwards, so he can't do the 'true' Gerwalk anymore - plus, since they don't sweep under the bulk of the jet, he ends up faceplanting because he's too front heavy. I suppose you could always twist his waist around first, but it'll look wrong regardless.
Still, he's a good looking incarnation of the character and a fun toy besides, so I'd get him anyway if I were you.

I've seen a loymt of praise for United Animated Prime, but it's so weird. The entire toy relies on friction to stay together, and nothing locks in well. It doesn't help that the knees ar3 wo loose the toy falls backwards under his own weight.

Oh, and the toy has some minor detaiks that could hint at an alternate release with more accesories, like a tri peg hole set up and some slots on the legs that don't seem to be used for anything. I woudln't recommend a new release either since I can't see it using the Jet Wing or PM parts with the current body.

Yeah true. I was honestly surprised people here told me to buy Titan Cybertron Metroplex. I thought for sure people would have told me he is shit because even some "reviewers" said he was lackluster. Got the guy today and he's pretty awesome. I've never owned a toy this big in my life. He has some really nice posing for a Titan class as well.

Honestly, I would have been fine had they stuck to the proper design conventions. She's supposed to be a G1 version of Cyberverse Windblade, who already looked a lot like G1 Windblade, so the broad shoulders, and weird stomach feel very out of place.

I just don't jive with it aesthetically, it feels like the same thing as legarcee where the design kinda hits the right notes but at the same time everything is just wrong
It looks too blocky when she should be angular, any real hint of waist and chest was erased and her shins are monstrous. Windy always had big red boots, but legacy lacks any sort of style, they're just big chunks.
Jet mode also looks... unreasonably chunky, I think more than it's ever been. I'd wager a big part of that is because of how small her wings are

Yeah if anything I'd say the robot mode looks great but the alt modes just look like the robot mode folded or spread out. Idk if they call that kibble, but its like there are no alt-mode bits. I would vastly prdfer alt mode kibble on my robot over the alt mode being robot parts.

Yeah it really feels like it. Luckily there are things you can do with characters like Armada Megatron, but I feel like they're making it harder to remedy their shit engineering. And it also doesn't help the DNA designs have started deciding to include the most useless fucking shit in their kits to jack the price up.

Silverbolt looks pretty dead on to what I would want in a Silverbolt figure, thank god. He does have some hollow shit on him, but nothing that a 3D printer can't fix with fillers.

it's not like it's difficult. you just put a hinge in the wrist, and make the other end of the hinge a peg that plugs into the arm for rotation. Cheapest figure engineering you could ask for.
But then we tend to get really stubby undersized and rounded-off swords anyway.

in fairness, that's really tough to pull off. it requires the back of the head to either be hollow or have a big gap for a neck hinge. Considering there's still no regular usage of shoulder-raising trapezius hinges in toys, flight will never look perfect anyway since you can't extend one or both arms out in front of you.

The arms could be swaped at the bicep swivel, didn't expect so many pins desu, lately Hastak seemed suspiciouslly add on friendly on their designs, leaving clear attaching points for parts not included. Those are help me a lot on this WIP kit.

Got both of my Reactivate 2-packs today (Starscream vs Bumblebee and Soundwave vs Optimus), but I'm not going to have a chance to take any pics of them or do a proper review until after work. Initial impressions are not too bad, but one thing I noticed (something I actually noticed on both Deathsaurus and that G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover Soundwave, but seems to have carried on here) is that there's been a definite change in the quality of the plastic they're using now; I'm wondering if Hasbro has once again changed factories to cut costs.
Either way, I'll see if I can post some pics later, when I've had a chance to mess with them a bit.

Only if Japan will do it, I'm tired of current US hacks. Mappa or Trigger should do it. All I want is to have proper story with good characters. In Micron Legend most characters had arcs, even if minor. I would love if we could get those old anime remade with current technology. Imagine new Micron Legend, Superlink WITH GOOD CGI and Galaxy Force.

The new one is designed by the newbie designer at Takara who came over from Zoids. It's the same idiot who did the new Game SS Barricade.

The toy is a complete loss and the hind legs are like stork legs and aren't even close to the actual CGI model and in addition it makes posing him in beast mode to be difficult.

For real though. I started watching it over again this past month and aside from the Season 1 "we must sell these toys" season, this show has one of the best interconnecting stories in my memory. I was worried it was nostalgia clouding my mind, but damn. The ending of that one part of Agenda where there's no music playing and Primal and Cheetor are just doing some scouting. Rattrap comes in over the intercom and tells them he has good news and bad news. "Well, the good news is, we don't have to count on that stinkin' Decepticon any longer. The bad news is...uhh...HE SWITCHED SIDES!!!" And the whole "Decepticons FOREVAH!" yadda yadda. I don't watch much kids TV anymore, but I do try to watch adult programming and some of the beats of this show are just so good.

got my secondhand studio series rhinox. he really is a good robot mode, and I like the revised color scheme. lots of overlaying of different grays and silvers. lots of parts moving relative to other parts, making him look less toyish. a surprising number of easily-popped-off hinge areas, which i'll take over a pin that you just stress until it breaks.
the tiny rhino front feet are a problem for sure, but the beast mode is already kinda ehh so i'm not shocked nobody has made like, an upgrade kit where rhino-feet slippers turn into.. uh.. actually I guess you could plug them onto the back of some guns, and they could include guns.
The transformation is genuinely fun in a way I haven't felt in a while. pieces just sorta fold out then lock into a new configuration you didn't see before. horns hide to make things fit inside other things.. there's room for silly fanmodes like 'carry something in his front pouch' mode or 'kind of a judoon' hunched-over gerwalk mode.
but for whatever reason, he can't hold his hammer in gun mode. very strange choice. and you can tell from the shape of the shins, which are now one solid piece but obviously designed with movement in mind, that we could have gotten way better beast mode rear legs before budget cuts came in.

I put a dab of superglue inside his hand, stuck the gun in, and wiggled it around. Took it in and out a few times over the course of a few minutes and let it harden up. Now he can hold his gun just fine.

I don't know if "dream" is the right word, but the kind of series I would make would be an unholy mixture of G1's episodic whatever plots and bloated cast size, cartoons where everyone in the cast is an idiot, insane, jerk or some combination of the above, and weeb approach to fights and character design. Characters make/are a lot of stupid jokes and pop culture references, explained by Primus being an ascended Junkion.
The Decepticons pretty much consist of Megatron fanboys and people trying to make a buck since Kaon is an economic shithole. Megatron himself is someone from Iacon posing as a Kaon war hero from 30 millions of years ago, and certainly doesn't have the actual strength or intelligence of the original and relies on Soundwave's communication and telepathic abilities to keep the charade up. Autobots are from the failed theocratic state Iacon with a newly appointed leader (named Orion Phobos to make it obvious they got the wrong guy), and would have gone into a civil war if it wasn't for a common enemy of the Decepticons. Naturally this spills over to Earth, which is in the 43th century but it isn't apparent because a mass-extinction event in the 21st killed off most the life and made a lot of deserts. There is an Earth-native population of Transformers who are mostly annoyed by the Autobot/Decepticons but some end up joining them anyway. Decepticons pull such schemes as sending the Autobots a mailbomb, kidnapping Autobot Mirage and trying to ransom him for money, remaking the G1 cartoon as a stop-motion movie, trying to drill to the core of the planet, trying to win at a Match Game knockoff by using Decepticons as the panelists, getting into a fighting tournament to determine who is best suited to be Megatron's partner, pulling Energon from another universe so they have infinite supply, and spreading a rumor that Optimus Prime has Scraplets. You have lots of random Transformers from other planets also end up on Earth for vague reasons.

The show would eventually show by a Cybertron News Network reporter that the Autobots and Decepticons are a very small minority of the population and called terms like "ignorant savages". Also you would have many things that seem to be plot points like Thunderwing controlling the Earth culture from the shadows, Elita-1's true identity being Liege Maximo, and Primus coming in conflict with the actual creator of the universe, but none of these are followed up on. Thirteenth and Amalgamous of the Covenant incarnations are combined into a singular figure representing protoforms and said to be the first of "Modern" Transformers. It is claimed the Matrix of Leadership is made from Prima's spark chamber, Prima is both the first and most importantof the Primes, and that the natives of Kaon are The Fallen's spawn. Meanwhile Kaonic beliefs say that Nexus was the first created by Primus, and that each one assisted Primus on making smaller, more intricate bodies, going Nexus->Solus->Onyx->Megatronus->Prima->whatever->Vector->Alpha->Amalgamous->Micronus. The 13 were all allies, with Megatronus becoming the leader because of his strongest fighting ability and strategy, and Prima was noted for foolishness. Liege Maximo betrays Megatronus on a whim, critically injuring him. Other planets would have different interpretations, such as Caminus having Solus being overpowered and claim remains are buried there.) .

Another thing that would be background bait is Kaon looks like a humanoid lying on its back while Iacon looks like a cut in half humanoid with seperate "legs" and "torso". Closest to explaining is that the Decepticon ship recycled the Spark and parts of a Titan for parts, and reawakens during a fake Optimus plot, taking control of the puppet body, calling self "Nemesis Prime", and getting so angry about "Iaconus spawn" that the body explodes.
None of this would be explained in the show, but supplemental material. In-show, characters would even be shown not interested in learning about this nonsense.
Also there would be a lot of songs in the show that are associated with characters or groups instead of moods (theme songs), pulling from a bunch of genres.

Basically brand suicide, even assuming the toyline is properly executed.

He's ok. Kinda weird his mouth is hollow so you see green in his mouth where the neck swivel joint is. Transformation is simple enough but solid and kind of in scale with core and legends class figures.
If it has wrist swivels it would be better.

Season 3 shat the bed pretty hard. Whoever decided to suddenly shift focus on Cheetor and write him going through "cyber-puberty", I hope they never got another writing gig ever again. And don't even get me started on Beast Machines. Words cannot describe the rage I feel over how dirty they did Rattrap. He was the best character in BW btw.
