Sort of like every second wave MOTU or Thundercats figure. They had to spin or light up or something. They just plain could not be a regular guy that just stands there. Late 80s Toy Biz Marvel really took off with this idea. Every single one of them had to have a spring loaded punch, make sparks, have magnets, squirt water..something.
Transforming is a nice simple gimmick that just works and there are a lot of ways to make it unique. turn into a vehicle, turn into an animal, or have heads flip from helmeted to not.
