>>10804630I loved those Rock'em Sock'em Robots as a kid. I had probably half a dozen of them. For me at age five or whatever, the thing that I liked most about them was that it made me feel responsible in a way; I had to use a tool to put the figure together, I could decide how to configure it, etc. Of course, the conceit of "robot takes his opponent's best weapons after beating him" is cool, but honestly as a kid I don't remember thinking of them that way. I liked swapping out the robots' own alternate parts a lot more than I liked mixing and matching them, mostly because I didn't like how the mixed parts looked together. I would play with Bionicles in similar ways.
The only Galidor toys I ever had were the ones from McDonalds--I honestly don't even remember seeing them in stores. I did watch the show a couple times and I thought it was fine, but there were many other things I would rather be watching on Saturday mornings. Had I seen a Nepol figure I probably would have wanted it as a kid. What did they even MSRP for originally?
