are you for real? It's the largest Ornithomimid to have yet been discovered. Large animals always get memed into popularity. Maip Macrothorax was known for like 5 minutes before it appeared in Amazing Dino World season 2 because it was a giant Megaraptoran.
I don't like the overfeathered depiction of the animal because it's fucking stupid to depict a 7 ton animal that lived in a tropical swamp with anywhere near that level of feathering, but pretending that the paleo community memed it into popularity if retarded.

Probably 1/35 like most of their large theropod statues. You can check their Instagram and Facebook and while they don't confirm what scale it is, they do confirm what scales it isn't. They practically call people begging them for it to be 1/12 retarded and they politely tell people asking if it's 1/18 that they don't make 1/18 figures. As far as I'm aware, the planned Beasts of the Cenozoic line is the only line with articulated Pleistocene fauna. But if you're asking about statues or plastic toys, then Eofauna has a Mammoth and a Paleoloxodon and and Rebor has a Smilodon

I had no idea this line even existed. I have to get my hands on the future predator. The Smilodon looks comically small compared to the oversized Populator from the show, it almost looks like it could be Gracilis given how small it is compared to the human figures. Still, I mostly collect 1/18 so it should look better sized compared to them.

Future Pred is pretty fun, only gripe is that lack of ankle articulation. The raptor was a tad disappointing since the ankles don’t pivot so the feet can’t evenly touch the ground when the legs are at angles. The sabertooth is kinda meh on articulation but looks good. I’m always scouring eBay for the gray and control-chip future preds but they either aren’t available or they’re up for too much. Might just need to bite the bullet and pay the late tax.

Also wish they did the Gorgonopsid. Real missed opportunity there.

There's a cut scene in TLW where InGen's board of directors goes over the costs of paying out all the families of people who were killed from the events on Isla Nublar and the girl who got attacked by the compies on Site B. They do mention that she survived and her injuries weren't severe (the compy-attack scene is actually in the original JP novel in the beginning chapters).

As for Coelophysis, I'm surprised they haven't made a new one yet considering we've gotten quite a lot of Triassic critters these last few years (including several pseudosuchians like Popsaurus and Kaprosuchus), and the two-pack of the bendy-wire 'Sprinters'/Coelophysese would make a nice throwback like Scutosaurus, Tanystrohpeus, and Dimetrodon.

I think the only company that would ever do something like that is Super7. A Reaction David Attenborough would be kind of funny to own and would roughly be in scale with other 1/18 figures. Personally, I'd rather have Kenneth Branagh, because the Walking with Series, for all its inaccuracies, is the most iconic prehistoric documentary series.

Pretty much what's out right now. There hasn't been a Hammond Collection release for either of them yet. All four of the Mattel Spino's are going to be expensive and hard to find unless you use ebay.

I would however advise against getting either of these figures or at least not getting the Indominus. The Mattel leaks have been right so far, so we should expect an HC Indominus sometime this year which should be at least as articulated as the Tyrannosaurus.

On the big leak list, nothing else that hasn't come out yet, unfortunately. Dimetrodon, Owen, Blue, and the Indominus were the last ones on the list IIRC and all but the Indominus have been revealed/are in stores.

Since then Pyroraptor and Delta have been leaked thanks to Target, but that's the latest info from a month ago. You occasionally see people talk about rumors of Spinosaurus, but that's just wishful thinking. There have been no leaks that said anything about Spinosaurus, and given the length of time between Tyrannosaurus and Indominus, it's very unlikely we're getting a Spino any time soon.

I'd argue it's the least violent and aggressive antagonist since Lost World. Unlike the Spino, the Giga doesnt actively hunt the Rex or the people. He bites Rexy on the nose to steal a deer, attacks the group because facility is on fire, and then fights Rexy again because they are crowded into small space while the valley is on fire. He's basically as sympathetic as the Buck is in Lost World.

We’re supposed to like Rexy because T-rex is an iconic dinosaur that virtually everyone knows about due to it being known for over a century with tons of media adaptations even if you don’t count the Jurassic franchise. It’s romanticized as the literal king of the dinosaurs so the knee-jerk reaction by kids and many adults is that Rexy is the antihero of the Jurassic dinosaurs, especially the famous ‘When Dinisaurs Ruled’ scene at the end of JP. That scene set the narrative for the franchise that Rexy and the other rexes, while deadly, are the top-dogs of the islands and are to be revered like how lions traditionally have been. But in reality Rexy fails to single-handedly beat both Indominus and Giga, both times needing the help of other creatures to even be effective. Rexy (and T-Rex as a whole) is overrated like how lions are. Irl, lions are outclassed by hyenas due to them being greater in number and also more intelligent, and while Rex is a swole beast it’s a lumbering oaf that most irl humans could outrun. Meanwhile Giga is more of an upstart in the world of megatheropods only being known since the 90s. While irl Giga was basically just a scaled-up Allosaurus with smaller arms it was lighter-built compared to the more robust Rex. In a 1-on-1 fight Rex is a tank but Giga was likely more agile and overall faster. One bite of Rex is basically a KO but Giga could likely dodge and give less-powerful bites to let its opponent bleed out and exhaust itself. But back to JW, Giga was the superior predator in so many ways, including being in its prime as opposed to Rexy being a moldy Christmas cake. I’m looking forward to an HC Giga down the line if Mattel is willing to do it, and already love my SC Giga.

Nostalgia plain and simple. They had to include Rexy smashing the Spinosaurus skeleton for the same reason. The people behind the JW trilogy did not understand the previous trilogy. JP3 and LW have their issues (especially JP3 which leans into making the dinosaurs more monstrous), but they have an infinitely better understanding of the first movie than any of the sequel trilogy.

It still makes me mad that the JW trilogy just took a huge shit on Hammond. TLW and JP3's premises revolve around Hammond having accepted his mistake and taking responsibility for the animals he created and trying to make sure they can live peacefully and specifically tried to stop the further exploitation of them. Then JW just decides that he changed his mind and really did want a dinosaur theme park again and told Masrani to do it and Sorna just kind of got forgotten until Dominion. FK even treats as if the volcano is going to make all of the dinosaurs go extinct but apparently Sorna still had a bunch of them which Biosyn later took. So everything about Hammond and the UN setting up restrictions to protect the dinosaurs just got forgotten and Hammond still keeps getting treated as this madman that never learned his lesson.

Isla Nublar's facilities and dinosaurs were destroyed by InGen after the incident according to The Lost World, yeah it was in a deleted scene but the entire movie revolves around this because it's the reason everyone is so focused on Isla Sorna and why the movie treats it as the single dinosaur island. That's even why the marketing tagline was "Something Has Survived."

Realistically this is awful but a lot of people eat it up and that's why we're up to 6 movies now and yet only one of them was good, the first one. People shit a lot on JP3 but it had the right idea of treating dinosaurs as hostile creatures that would absolutely murder humans and each other alike without thinking about how to tag-team a greater threat or respectfully nod in the direction of their human master or whatever. Spino killing Rex was perfect symbolism for how the franchise needed to evolve and leave childish ideas and nostalgia behind and move on to greater and bigger dinosarus but everyone rejected it and now we have a movie where humans keep dinosarus as pets and all's well that ends well and our heroes will always be saved by Rexy and her newly introduced for the latest film dino-friend

That doesn't really fit since it's clear that Masrani is meant to be almost a retread of Hammond, someone well-meaning who was in over his head, with an extra dose of having Wu and Hoskins playing him for a fool. Jurassic World only makes sense as one of those Halloween style soft reboots where they ignore all other movies except the first one. Even Fallen Kingdom only acknowledges them in the associated lore but not in the movie itself, and Dominion is the only one of the three to have any direct in-movie acknowledgement of TLW or JPIII.

yeah, Masrani felt like a boring retread of Hammond which undid hammond's character growth. I firmly believe that Biosyn should have been the corporation that created Jurassic World after buying up the IP from a bankrupt INGEN and lobbying either the US or Chinese government to end the restrictions of cloning dinosaurs and having the park either be in China or Florida.
JW acted like it wanted to be a commentary on commercialization and cynical nostalgiabaiting, but then it didn't actually say anything and was just a straightforward example of both those things.

I will forever wish that Jurassic World had ended like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and had a cloned ancient virus pandemic cause the collapse of human civilization and that each sequel jumped a little further after the end of the world

I swapped and flipped the more articulated shins and feet on one of my HC dimetros I just picked up. Gives it a lot more potential for poses than the stock version even if the new hind legs look a little awkward in a few positions. I think it was a big mistake to make the front legs be more static, and with extreme ankle tilts, since it basically renders the extra articulation almost useless. Still a very fun dimetrodon figure.

The back legs from the shin down are swapped and flipped upsidedown and backwards into the opposite front leg shin spots, which allows the most possible movement(compared to just moving them up on the same side).

Dominion and TROS also decided they need to bring back the big villain after completely sidelining the villain that had previously been built up as being the big villain of the new trilogy. I'm not sure which is worse, sidelining Kylo Ren for a villain who is genuinely popular but whose appearance makes absolutely no sense and actively shits on the rest of the saga, or sidelining Wu for a villain who's most known for a self-demonstrating meme about how nobody cares who he is.

There's a guy who switched them so that one dimetro has all 4 super articulated legs and one has all 4 shitty legs.

While that's cool and of course superior if youre okay with one being a dud, I really think just switching them around like I did (back to front) is good enough, and if you only want to buy one figure you're still going to be happy.

I don't get why he had to go so overboard with the armor designs it really clashes with the accurate dino interpretations too imo. These would be way cooler with more simplistic mounts.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but with how wide-spread and relatively cheap 3D printers are, what's stopping someone from being a more legit ArticFigures or EdelToys? There's clearly a demand for dinos that aren't likely to be made in any sort of capacity. As long as you keep personal limitations on material and production in mind, it seems like a goldmine. Even if you just sell unassembled kits, it seems like too good an idea for places like Etsy to not be flooded with every other person's home-made dinos.
