>>10830134To be fair, the original unicorn mythos has them as symbols of masculinity and virility. Originally, they were exclusively male entities, and they normally murdered pretty much everything they met, goring them with that one horn and consuming flesh; only a pure hearted maiden could tame them (and any maiden that WASN'T pure would be trampled to death). Grinding up a unicorn's horn was said to make people live longer and enhance male stamina.
In time, they started being associated more with girls due to the whole 'taming' connection, and now they've been co-opted by artists and a certain crowd of 'people' as an icon, but that was never the intention - they were originally exclusively stallions for a reason.
