Saw the last thread got archived so I made a new one. I hope I didn't fuck it up or anything bros this is my first time creating the thread. I found some beaner on instagram trying to make Highway 35 and Acceleracers cars and while they are fucking abysmal I gotta give them an A for effort. Here's his attempt at the 1999 Charger Concept using El Segundo Coupe. And you can see the rest of the pure greatness sitting in the back.

To the Anon 2 threads ago who told me to get the Dodge Concept Car FE, it was being shipped when you asked and it just came in today. I could've sworn this was called the Dodge Copperhead concept but I guess they didn't have the naming rights or something. Iirc this was supposed to have a V6 in it and produce around the same stats of the yet to come out (at the time) 350Z. Neat little idea that just came out too early I guess.

Chrysler made a bunch of wild concept cars around that time. The Copperhead, the Charger R/T, the Power Wagon, the Atlantic (pic related)...I don't think they were serious production candidates. Other automakers did lots of similar things back then. And a lot of them got diecast versions. Good marketing I suppose; I knew all of these as a child. But the cars that actually hit the market overall did not deliver on the promises the prototypes made. There were a couple of exceptions.

Shit, these days I don't even keep up with things enough to know if car companies still do this. But from what I do know it seems everything that gets revealed is slated for production. I guess Mazda has that RX successor thing floating around that will probably never see a street?

These honestly don't look all that bad. They look like demo derby participants. Didn't know Matchbox made such boring cars back then. I'll have to add a few of those to my collection. We need more boring die cast. Plebeian cars for the masses. Would make scenes and dioramas that much more real.

Matchbox currently makes a Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3, Subaru Forester, and a slew of other boring cars. That's not even mentioning the electric vehicles that clog up the pegs.

I've been trying to get into the older stuff recently. About a month ago I picked up some used Sizzlers sets and have been trying to refurbish some of their more fucked up pieces. It was an insane deal I got around 50 feet of fat track plus a ton of older redline turns (single and double wide) for only $70. Barely fit it all in my car. Might post some updates of it later once I get it all sorted. Don't have any pics atm so here's a photo of my newest (and most favorite) Treasure Hunt.

Regarding the Sizzlers, I only really have the track. I only have one Sizzler car but I'm unsure if it even works because I don't have the charger that is supposed to come with it. I'm currently on the hunt for one of the charging systems to add to my collection and might even try to purchase a few other of the cars as well. The car I currently have is a Straight Scoop in pink, but it's stored away for the time being since I can't really do anything with it until I find a charger.

Also >>10830411 goddamn I wish I had a redline 917. I've gotten to see a 917LH in person and absolutely adored the body lines. Either this or a Ford J car would be my go-to redline if I could afford them.

What is there to tell? I was a racing obsessed kid so if I had a street car it got made into a race car. That meant covering it with beer, oil and cigarette logos because that's who paid for racing back then.

Well, they have been in a box for the last 30 years.
Some of the plastic wings and aero pieces I added have fallen off as the glue got old, but I'm really happy with how that Ferrari 308 still looks.

As I remember it Matchbox (and Tomica) made the cool ones back then. But yeah, a Mercury Station wagon is pretty lame. I might re-paint it to be the medical chase car.

The sizzler stuff, particular old track isn't all that expensive. Strangely the remakes are. I still have my remakes of the sizzler cars and the Giant Oval from around 06, including charger station, much like the old, so you might be able to pick up a newer charger. Just check that the charging port matches as I am not sure if the old cars are built the same as the new.

Car companies typically don't run their own race efforts. They provide money, tech and support but hire professional teams to do the actual racing.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing was the team that ran those Jaguar XJR's that dethroned Porsche at Le Mans and won the World Endurance Championship. In 1994 that program was ending with the end of the Group C category.

At the same time Volvo wanted to race in the British Touring Car Championship. Volvo wanted a good team and TWR needed a new job so it was a good fit.

Problem was the engine. BTCC rules at the time were 2-liter engines, no turbos. The 5-cylinder engines Volvo wanted to run were way short on power and it was going to take at least a year of development work to get them up to be competitive with the best cars.

They were doomed to a year of puttering around at the back of the pack for a year anyway so Volvo and TWR decided to do something silly to get attention while they worked on building up the horsepower. If you can't build a winning car, build one people will love.

They only raced the station wagon 850's for one year, switching to a conventional sedan for next year. By now the engines were ready to get the job done and Rickard Rydell got 3rd in the BTCC. By 1998 they won the title.

But nobody remembers that but obsessed superfans like me. It's the crazy station wagon race cars that people remember...and gets made into a main line Hot Wheels.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see one soon. HW has recently dropped three of the Group C era prototypes in the past few years with the Porsche 962, Mazda 787, and the Sauber C9. Being that the Jag is one of the more famous ones I bet it's either in development or will be in development within the next few years. Gonna be very concerned about if they'll botch the Silk Cut liveries with the car, though. People have been pretty upset with the Reknown livery that HW is making for the 787.

Sadly it was only in a Museum. I was on a trip to Philadelphia and the car was at a local Museum for a charity event. Along with it was the Dyson Racing Porsche 962 with the RC Cola livery. They were very nice people! The 962 was off to the left of picrel.

I really love the Hot Wheels Turtle Van, but it has three big flaws:
1.) the 2012 turtle logo on the front instead of 87
2.) the tires being too low-profile
3.) the color is wrong; everyone thinks its yellow, but in the show it was so much more pale as to be closer to beige.

Once I realized Hot Wheels own scaling discrepancies and the differences from other manufacturers, I just gave up and started collecting more premium shit. I understand the frustration with scale. This Elite 64 Audi RS7 seems rather small compared to my Mini GT Elantra N. But they say we get what we pay for.

That's the same company that sells those not-nerf guns, I got some that recoil when you pull the trigger, they're pretty good.

Not to shit on them, but Horizon have not made a good aircraft since 2018, barring the new Beech 18 (love me some Twin Beech). All the good ones that have been coming out have been re-releases.

Not a crawler or a boat guy, but I thought Traxxas was the gold standard for buggies these days.
