When talking about quality toys, I am talking about a release that has it all or at least up to a point where for that specific company, it seems like it. Two that come to mind would be Wonder Woman for McFarlane and Deluxe War Machine for Hasbro. Both releases have good sculpting, plentiful accessories, and a nice colour scheme. We can argue about those figures' range of motion but all in all, I would consider both of those to be worth 30 bucks and I am sure most people here wouldn't be shitting themselves if every figure out there had such dedication put into it.
I can only speak for myself in terms of liquidity because I have a specific Paypal account for my hobby which I simply finance through buying and selling stuff so I never had to think twice about getting a figure I wanted. Still, even though 30€ are nothing to me, I still don't see a point in buying a figure I don't like. I have been desparately waiting for a great Superman figure but there's always something with McFarlane's releases. Either it's the wrong hands, horrible torso articulation, single-jointed elbows, a bad head, no accessories.... To be fair, that warrants for not getting the figure at all but I still maintain the opinion that many here are only bothered by the 30 dollar price point because the releases don't have the quality they desire.
As a sales person myself, my argument is that it's not about the price point, it's about the quality you're willing to offer to your customers so they don't give a damn about the price point. That's exactly why people buy imports btw, they see the value in those import figures you mentioned
