So WonFes is on Feb 11th. Medicos have announced that they will finally be show casing painted hot pants, hopefully a PO will go up soon after.

Who's getting it? SBR is my favourite series. Sad David Production haven't confirmed that anime yet.

The only other arm attachment that would make sense would be damned punk but that would have to be something like double the size of his fist. A hand with some purple effect might have been decent to show him using his power but this is about as good a kidd as one could expect.

Tamashii has the figure height as 180mm. Tbh his official height is only 205cm, so should only be 170mm, but I'm guessing they measure to the top of the head so the hair is making up that extra cm. =)
Should scale nicely with the GLM Killer.

Nice, hopefully he measures up (I still remember the D-Arts Mewtwo listed at 160mm when he ended up 140mm...). I'm definitely excited for this release.

Gonna pass on tanjuro. Already invested in buzzmod and don't want a situation like MHA where I end up flip flopping between 2 lines that don't really display well together.

Buzzmod just announced genya and sanemi so making some pretty deep cuts now.

That's fair, and nice that Buzzmod are getting that deep into the line. I like the series well enough, but don't honestly care that much about it to buy something like Nezuko for that much, but for a budget release Tanjiro, I'll grab it.

I preordered Mitsuri for March but I'm still seething that I missed out on Tanjiro and Nezuko. At least Nezuko... I should've just bought the two of them but I wasn't happy with both the Figma and Buzzmod.

How deep would you go in the OP line? Outside of the strawhats, which crews/teams would you want to complete.

Cross Guild main 3 easily.
Baroque works (these specific versions) I'd be interested in Mr 1, Doublefinger.
Sweet Commanders, at least Katakuri, probably the other 2, some other siblings.
King, some of the Six of the Beast Pirates.
Carrot of the Minks.
Admirals, Garp, some others probably.
Shanks and Beckman.
Rogers and Rayleigh.
Of the Supernovas we haven't already got, Drake, Bonney, Killer.
Enel of his squad.
Lucci and Kaku probably of CP9. If CP0 maybe Stussy too.
Probably just Blackbeard on his own. Don't care much for any of his crew.
Probably just Marco for Whitebeard's crew. If we get WB and Ace, then them too probably.
For Revolutionaries Dragon and Sabo, and probably some others.

Some great picks here. Cross Guild is a given, BW I'd only be interest in 0, 1 & 2, maybe 3. Sweet commanders and Beast Pirates Calamities would be nightmare to scale. I think Cracker is the only one we could get to scale since he's the same hight as Doflamingo so would only need to be around 255mm.
Admirals is a given, both the PTS 3 and 2 new ones. I don't care for flashback crews like Rogers, young WB, Rocks, etc, but modern Shanks definitely.
Yes to those 3 novas + Hawkins.
CP0 yes, CP9 not so much.
I would buy the fuck out of the entire BB pirates, I think everyone up to Pizzaro could be done to reasonable scale.
Marco, Ace Yes, Jozu and WB would need to be big.
Dragon & Sabo for sure.

I'd also throw in the Impel down breakout crew. Although Iva is probably too big. I'll use a statue for now, we just need Jinbe, Red/Yellow Luffy, Inazuma and Croc.

Yeah. Buzzmods painting team are pretty amateurish. Because it has so much detail and it's done by hand it comes off looking like a custom. Reminds me of some of the SAS Jojo figures, but atleast it has paint and isn't all just colored plastic and transfers/prints.

It certainly helps for stability and ease of posing, but like I have no problem standing Yamato without her stand, I'm sure so long as you balance him right Kidd will be fine too. The logic is sound though, if they're 'hard' to stand then the inclusion of a stand makes good sense. Don't they charge a solid amount for a stand though like 10-20? That's why Kidd is such a good value. He's already big in height and overall size plus a giant arm, has a ton of joints thanks to his hand (meaning cost of assembly), that big cape, and a stand on top of it all for 9k yen, the same price as Pesha and others that are probably only that price due to the likely limited production expected.

Gonna be honest, I don't think I'd get any of the Akazaya. I don't think I'd get Oden either. Denjiro would be the closest to something I might want. I don't dislike any of them, but I just don't really care for any of them enough to get as figures.

I will buy every single pre-timeskip figure they make. I have just gotten into the line and have not been interested in buying Yamato or Kaido since I don't think they look like good figures but I want everything else that's going now even with people not liking Zoro. Zoro looks good standing there, I'm fine with him. I actually think Luffy isn't that good, having just received him today. It seems like the lack of very good shoulder articulation combined with his weak hip articulation and knee articulation are going to keep him from doing much. I could be wrong about that, I just messed around with him for five minutes for the first time.

I wouldn't say every PTS character. I like a lot of the new designs, but specific looks from wb war would be cool.

I just want bandai to hurry up and give us a mihawk. The VAH is ok, but too big. Have to go down the statue route for it to look right in a 1/12 display.

Sad zoro has the same weakness as guts. Can't hold a big sword up with one arm without help. More a problem with the shoulder joint than the wrist though.

I didn't heed warnings on Guts, got him, and he's dog shit. I thought people were exaggerating like they often do but they weren't. With a replacement skirt, is Zoro usable? Once you've replaced that, is it just the shoulder design being awkward?

Also was tempted to get the VAH reissue of Mihawk but ultimately avoided because he's too big. Fingers crossed for an SHF, which is fairly likely eventually. I don't think I would have cared enough about Mihawk before the Cross Guild, that trio is such a fun dynamic

Speaking of which hoping for a Croc VAH reissue too, hopefully the Mihawk is a sign of that since they're related in the plot now

If we get an SHF Buggy it'll most likely be East Blue, which is fine I'll probably get him out of all the EB villains, but he won't match the Cross Guild look. I'm really hoping they do some crazy Chop Chop effect with Buggy where he has a special stand with multiple arms and you can take the figure apart to have parts of him floating

There's unusable and then there's fiddly. I'd categorise both guts and zoro as the later. They aren't easy figures to pose do to their limited tolerance, but eventually you find ways of getting them to look how you want.

For zoro I don't like the idea of having mixed textures on an outfit that should be all the same. The skirt doesn't bug me as much as the arms anyway. This is as crossed as they go before they pop out which isn't ideal.

Definitely want buggy. Again, a statue will have to do as a stand in for now.

I haven't bought zoro or guts but I got 3 figuarts and... there would be two more I'd like to get but I'm not so sure. I find the quality really shoddy for something not that far from the price of a figma. Joints were either super loose or locked tight out of the box, lots of unpleasant squeaking and creaking in unreachable joints, and the detail is crude. The promo shots look too different than what you actually get. Figma look absolutely flawless in my experience although they have their own issues too and GSC is greedy as fuck

They're not bad, they're adequate. But the prices are getting pretty high now and they're not very well polished to compensate. Figma are expensive but t least you get really good paint and QC. On my shfs I always had to fix something substantially like joints completely locked that I had to free up with a scalpel/grease because there was probably some dried paint there, and they don't look remotely as good as figma especially up close. Sometimes you get a hand that's absurdly tight and impossible to remove without heat and another that's floppy and almost falls off on its own. But it's mainly how rough they look up close. Figma are pretty much like the promo pics.

That's the thing, there isn't really any 'QC' issues with him, it's all just down to how he's designed. The 2-piece skirt that restricts movement, the badly designed shoulders that hinder its own movement. I guess you could say something about the parts popping off, but aside from the left bicep, everything pops out simply because of those badly designed parts.

Well the already budget releases for dbz are often times stripped versions of more expensive releases to begin with. Like the Super Saiyan Vegeta and 4th Frieza are just previous releases with stuff taken away like this Zoro. They also get new paint though, which usually makes them better looking than the older releases.

I think of the other figures in OP so far Law might stand a chance of being released like this too.

The thing with all these figures and what turned me off of this hobby in general is that they're not designed to be played with. you're supposed to put them on a shelf and change the pose slightly every blue moon when you feel particularly adventurous. Even if they have good articulation you're supposed to make use of just a fraction of it otherwise they might break. If you're lucky the joints just go floppy as shit. Friction joints at 1/12 scale are just not functional. Especially the more complex import figures have just too many points of failure. It's nobody's fault, personally I think it's pretty amazing that you can get figures like Amazing Yamaguchi these days, I grew up with the old shitty action figures that had no elbow joint and could only spin the arms so this is like magic to me.

It looks like they didn't put his torso down properly which is making him look extra long. Actually looking at it it could be an overlay that wasn't properly put down judging by the shoulder part of the shirt rising so high.

Not the best pic for height comparisons but here. People are pointing out in the comments the lack of paint on Kid's arm, a main selling point of the figure, making it look kinda like a model kit lol

I'm also interested in the shoulder. I think >>10847265 is an earlier pic and the shoulder in >>10847250 looks more covered and seamless. The newer photo is lower quality so hard to tell. They may not have changed anything and its just down to the person posing them pushing the arm into place properly in one of them.

It's definitely possible, but many companies still shy away from things like double joints because of how small the joints will end up being on even 1/18 figures, and these are even smaller. They look good, but I do hope they've accounted for durability as well.

Because sadly that's how it goes a lot of the time with these indy companies. They produce the prototype pending license approval and showcase it at WF or other garage kit fairs hoping to prove to the licensor there is enough demand for them to negotiate the rights. Then if the negotiation fails the manufacture has to drop the project. Don't want to sound like a doom poster, and really hope they already have approval. I want these to get made.

You're confusing several things. 99.99% of what you see at WF and other events like this is actually released at some point, you simply don't hear of it because they're low quantity fan projects that were never meant to get a real licence and that are often only available during the event or through underground/private markets.
If a real toy like >>10847328 gets announced with copyright on the promo pics and is actually featured in professionnal toy magazines, there's very little chance of it not happening (it did happen a few times but it's definitely super rare).
tl;dr don't worry, it's almost guaranteed you'll be able to buy it.

I don't think I'd get an Arlong but I could be swayed if they really knock the figure out of the park. OP line has potential for a LOT of characters to be made so I don't want to go too deep in on characters I don't really care about, its why Im skipping Kaido, Law, Kidd, G5. I learned my lesson with the dragon ball shf

That being said Buggy would be an instant buy. Mihawk is relevant in east blue and the current manga with the same appearance so odds are high for him

For me I think the red would work as a fine stand in for Cross Guild Mihawk but I don't think I'd use the yellow as an East Blue one. I think its just because most of current Mihawk I've seen is in black and white (so wouldn't feel as weird being off) whereas the Baratie scenes against Zoro are so iconic so it'd feel off

Definitely getting it, I'm actually more excited for Roadagain personally, hoping that he comes with Mandom like how Wekapipo will come with Tubular Bells, True Man's World was too kino for Ringo not to get a figure. Though, I wonder how many more characters they'll make figures for since SBR is up next for an anime adaptation and they might want to capitalize on the hype. I could see them going for Lucy Steel or Sandman + In A Silent Way, or maybe even release the Valentine Second Version that never came out.

Rewatched the Enel reaction to Luffy yesterday when it came up recommended on yt, made me remember just how much I prefer older One Piece. Still enjoying the new stuff more than I do most shows and a big part of it is placed in subjective 'charm' but its just like you said for me it just feels like there's just more 'SOUL'. Whatever that actually means. A big part of it is the colours for me, lots of the newer stuff looks too clean and bold, like they're made of plastic (which I understand is ironic to whine about in an action figure thread lol). It also coincides with recent story choices I personally am not all that fond of like haki but I won't get into that

I brought it up in the last thread but in addition to the faces and colours the silhouettes of some characters are bulked out and made a bit more normal. Modern EB Sanji still has long thin legs but I prefer the older look where his legs widen out at the bottom so much more. Older Sanji's face looks different too. Idk how to describe it- sleezier almost? Can't complain too much, glad we're getting preskip stuff so soon at all, was a genuinely nice surprise even if its with this caveat :)

Yeah. I definitely know what you mean. Like most mangaka, Oda's drawing style was a lot more crude early on. The proportions were off in a way that had charm, like a typical gag manga.

Over time the designs become more refined and anatomical I guess, although a lot of characters still have ridiculous proportions like Raizo or Orochi. It's similar to comparing OG DB to the Buu Saga.

Yeah. Same with laffite and doc q. Burgess is even bigger. The way the scenes are often framed makes it difficult to determine their size until you see a direct side by side with smaller characters.

I'd expect Blackbeard, but no one else. I don't think any of them are popular enough to warrant a figure. If they're going to make characters at that ~10' size, I'd rather the admirals. And if they want to fudge some abnormally large characters like Kaido, I'd rather Katakuri or Doflamingo. Basically, there will always be other more popular characters. Maybe if they line goes on for years and years we could get them, but even then, I don't think I'd personally want any of the Blackbeard pirates.

My first OP figure was Yamato cause I skipped onigashima Zoro and Sanji since I feel like their outfits are just too similar to their FI outfits which I fully expect in the future considering they're the "default" TS outfits for the crew and would be simple repaints of molds they already have. I guess people really don't care that much about him. I remember on Amazon Law got to 600+ before it was no longer available. Kidd is currently at 200+ and still available. I'm hoping he lasts until the next preorder drop, or until something else I want pops up as available. I'm constantly surprised by the low numbers of most non KR or Ultraman SHF. All that said preorders not selling out should be the norm, but I guess Bandai seems to put in the order at the factories before preorders for whatever reason. I guess it keeps the ball rolling on releases.

I think Kidd is just really really unpopular. He doesn't have a sad or interesting backstory, he's a rat bastard which a lot of people don't like, he has a reputation as a jobber now because he got one shot by one of the strongest people in the story, he's not super relevant to the story over all. All he really has consistently going for him is a cool design and a cool power. This all coming from a Kidd fan by the way. The one piece fan base just does not care for him.

desu I think it's a combination of popularity and the pricetag. Kid was only #23 on the last popularity poll. Luffy being less than half the price and the #1 character makes the re-release still outselling kid pretty obvious.

Yamato has the same problem. Almost a 10k pricetag and still instock.

Those 3 were #17, #30 and #12 respectively. I expect Mihawks popularity increased a bit since Cross Guild, so i'd say they are all top 20. They'd probably sell with price tags around 10k.

The problematic ones as always are going to be Franky (#28) and Brook (#26), since they regularly poll low and their big sizes will likely push them over the 10k mark. This is when they'll have to go P-Bandai and try and cash in on the "limited exclusive" marketing.

At the moment all we're 'guaranteed' is full east blue strawhats, one or two EB villains (arlong and buggy (sorry kriegbros)) and I reckon we're done with onigashima. A one off killer announcement would be weird and going outside of roofpiece into the rest of onigashima is opening a can of worms. I don't think a big mom figure is coming any time soon but maybe in a few years. The focus of wano was more on kaido and I feel most people would want her 'regular' look from WCI instead of the kimono. That and I don't know how confident they'd be releasing two giant more expensive figures in a row- kaido is probably testing the waters for them

Good chance they either show off Egghead stuff this year or just start going through popular characters that will sell well regardless of current relevancy (ace, doflamingo, gear 4 etc.).Thanks to Egghead constantly showing other shit going on in the world we've also got stuff like Blackbeard, Hancock, Cross Guild and Sabo with relevancy

Or maybe instead of Egghead they do Fishman Island Strawhats to get a full crew. Its gonna be weird if we're stuck with the only available full crew being a mix and match of onigashima and egggead outfits. I don't mind so much with the monster trio since their onigashima outfits are similar enough to their regular ones it isnt as jarring as the current techwear

Fingers crossed for Kizaru. Brook and Franky post skip are on the table but something tells me we'll be waiting a long while for preskip, which sucks, since I like those designs more

They could probably get away with doing king Yamato sized and outside of his wings and back flames it wouldn't be too much more complicated than a normal human with some weird proportions. Queen is the real issue where making him fat buu sized would still look weird and making him kaido sized would make a smaller king look weird cause they're suppose to be around the same size. I still think they're a possibility cause they were pretty instrumental in the arc getting their own clearly better animated episodes for the finale of their fights and you already have Zoro and Sanji to go against them.

This honestly wouldn't work for me. His body proportions would leave him with a head smaller than zoro's. If they were to match Kaido's height I'd be willing to get it since it would be imposing enough.

If they do Bonney its a shame it'll be the Egghead outfit since I prefer her regular one. Dont hate the tech outfits though

Kizaru is meant to be like twice Luffy's height I'm pretty sure. But I think they could get away with a height between shf yamato and kaido. Kizaru doesnt tower over luffy the way kaido towers over luffy, so a reduction in scale won't be jarring to the same degree. Since he'd probably only have a couple face plates hopefully that means he gets some cool light effects

Going by your picture I would honestly be fine with the Yamato sized king but I've never been too big a stickler for true scale between figures as long as they look good. A Yamato sized king would also work somewhat better with kaido for me since I would want kaido to be the taller between the three so he's the focal point more or less if posed together.

I'm just too much of a scalefag. I can cope with minor differences I scale, but big ones than then have a knock on effect when posed with other characters would be problematic.

If kizaru gets made small, then they'd have to do the same with aokiji and akainu. And then they'd look too small in a marineford display with bigger characters like crocodile and doflamingo.

I don't remember anyone question this as much with choppers hat.

Actual characters bodies are a different story though and need yo have some degree of consistency I feel. The admirals all being around the same height and towering over luffy is one of them.

Yes. Great Ape Vegeta uses die cast and ratchet joints. Not sure if he's there biggest figure to date, but he's the biggest I own and the joints still hold tight.

They could definitely do a few One Piece figures this size if they feel brave enough. I mean we do have elbaf coming up, so big characters is gonna be a thing.

I don't have GA Vegeta, but I remember when Kaido first showed up people were lamenting that he'd be a floppy mess incapable of supporting his own weight, so I assumed there was no precedent.

About the giants, at present I don't think there's really a giant popular enough to get made. Unless Loki or someone else is exceptionally cool, I assume it'll stay that way. And besides, giants are far too big to ever get made, the smallest giant we know is something like twice as big as Kaido.

Idk if we are, it makes sense to start with the east blue 5 as the first pre time skip figures but beyond that I wouldn't be surprised if they finish the crew before starting to jump around from arc to arc. I'd be extremely surprised if they stick to the east blue really hard or go forward arc by arc after getting out the initial crew.

I definitely would have too but if you wanna do just some default straw hats that most people would think of I would bet it would be easy blue for pre time skip and fishman island for post time skip. It's a bit of a nightmare situation for figuarts considering you need to try to catch up and make the crew but they change outfits pretty often compared to Naruto or Goku.

Elbaf is only Usopp's arc in the sense that it is another one of his lies coming true. Given the amount of shit that went down on Egghead, I fully expect Elbaf to be a bait switch/mid step to the next full arc. Bonus points if the crew arrives on Elbaf and then the entire thing gets offscreened in favor of a Koby or Sabo flashback.

It was just a test, but the sozai body M seemed too small for the heads, so I've ordered the larger one.

Not yet. The WCF heads are slightly too big, I'd be better butchering a figuarts zero statue, but I'm happy with having them fixed pose for now. I'll see how my generic sozai chan bikini body comes out once painted.

Shame about the head sizes. Some costumes in particular would probably be decently easy to pull off with soft goods on a generic body, like pic. Just matching proportions and skin colour. Idk how much you'd have to tweak to get that classic Oda hourglass. I'm probably gonna get a WCF head for my chogokin Franky but aside from that I'll probably just wait for SHFs of the other characters

Yeah. WCFs aren't very consistent. Some work, whilst other are too chibi style with oversized heads. I have the same problem with shanks. Trying to find a good head is hard.

Also pleased to have my old G4 statue home.

Don't worry about it. They're both shonen, so whether shueisha, akita shoten, Hakusensha or even kodansha its all good. Its more so the IPs, but since we only have 1 figure from each it's forgivable.
