Mcfarlane arguably has the best domestic sculpts but the worst paint. If he just split the difference and made 3 or 4 completely blank male and female bodies then spent the rest of the budget on retooling certain parts every figure could be great.

I bring you tales of the darkside from the scalpworld of ebay regarding DC Multiverse. Things are looking dangerous for this line. Once walmart gold labels were a sure sell, commanding double retail price or more. But if you look on ebay now, Owlman is languishing with tons of copies sitting. There are so many listings and he is only able to sell for 20-35 bucks typically. The value of the line is going down on the secondary market.

I like toys but I genuinely don't get the appeal of these. Children nowadays won't get the DC Super Powers references and the specific catering to classic style characters is an indication the line isn't really for them. Are there grown men in there 30s actually whooshing these around? I love toys but as an adult, I'm more interested in something that is highly detailed, has premium articulation, and comes with numerous accessories that look good in a display or photography. One reason among many is that ML is old and did most figures people wanted, now they are scrapping a lot of obscure characters and redoing old ones. Todd is selling figures people wanted for years, even decades, but never got. Look how long it took for the Wonder Woman, or Batman Forever/& Robin and the Batmobile. Those are safe bets.

However, I think Todd will not last much longer than Hasbro. Quality is going down and the number of characters people really want too.

These aren't for children. The main DC Multiverse line IS.

This Super Powers line is specifically for collectors who have a emotional connection with the old Super Powers brand and want to revive that excitement.

The vehicles are the only ones that may actually have children in mind when selling them.

In reality the entire line is mainly aimed at adult collectors for nostalgia -- even the vehicles -- but with some option for overrun to whatever kids' market that may still exist for figures. I've gotta wonder how they plan to clear these out of their warehouses at $40 each. Even just the CoiE wave remnants. Some characters people are rabid over like the Spectre will sell at that, but most will not, especially not characters that have already been released like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lanterns, etc. Especially not heavy reuse that is already out there at low prices. Mattel's big issue were their face sculpts - especially the yelling face, which they over used (as has MTS on some occasions, although Todd has more of a constipated face on his) and the color problems where the bodies ended up two toned in some cases.

Otherwise, in some cases, I'd rather chases down a decent condition inexpensive DCU Classic or DCU figure for some characters over any DCMV shit that Todd has pushed out, by and large.

This is typical post-2022 mcfarlane when they are actually trying hard on their paint and failing in the attempt spectacularly. They are sing an unnecessary amount of paint poorly to the point where it makes the figure worse, when a much simpler approach (which Anthony suggested, flat gray plastic with a full wash) would've worked better. Instead they do this bizarre heavy drybrushed white belt and gauntlet and flat gray boots, with flakes of blue paint all over the figure.

It very much reminds me of the Disruptor Spawn figure that they botched recently.
