>>10857304>>10857567I took a look at this wave's listings on bro-depot and the ridiculous $57 price and mention of gold label check out. Most likely this is another $40 wave exclusive to McFarlane's store.
So there are two results that could come from this, one dystopian and an alternative.
Since a non-movie Darkseid is the megafig, the dystopian response is a strong possibility. Here, people bend the knee and buy the 4 figures for over 130 bucks just to get Darkseid. We saw a dystopian response to the Spectre where people bought him anyway despite the fact he was overpriced. But the bundle has not sold out. People probably justified this as he was "only" double priced so they ate it to get a figure they absolutely had to have.
But Darkseid would force them to buy the whole wave which is basically paying over $130 for one figure, since the others are just reuse/existing characters people already have or can get for cheap. If people do this, McFarlane will see locking a highly desirable character behind a $40 wave will work for this line and will do it again and again.
However, the insanity of the price to value situation and the fact the non-BAF characters are just stuff that has been released before could mean the backlash against the CoiE wave will happen again, and people will decide they don't care, it's just too much, and they'll refuse to buy it. This could force a course correction where McFarlane Toys just has tons of the Task Force and the CoiE waves sitting in warehouse that don't move and they decide the $40 figures are a failed experiment. Needless to say this is the better outcome.
Either way, interesting times ahead for people who follow toy drama. I much preferred when people got to enjoy reasonably priced toys instead.
