I only bought Figuarts, Revoltech, Mafex, Jada Toys, Robot Damashii, Transformers and Sentinel stuff so far. Recently I picked up a ML Cyborg Thor for its effect piece expecting to trash the figure, but I was pleasantly surprised. At that price point the sculpt is more than decent, the articulation in some areas is lacking, paint apps aren't great, but also not horrible. I appreciate the feel of the figure. It feels sturdy, the plastic is somewhat soft but not gummy. Feels like it's indestructible. IF I compare that to my (prefered) import lines, of course they're going to win out in most categories, but they're often more than double the price. And for that they're lacking something the ML has: ease of use. "It just works" and I didn't have to worry about breaking anything. It gave me a feeling reminiscent of my childhood, where toys were just that - toys and not some expensive, fragile collector's item.
I don't get people who are slaves to one line. For me the closest is Kaiyodo because I like Yamaguchi's style. But if he were to switch companies I would still check out his stuff. If he lost his magic I would stop purchasing... These are companies trying to make money, not your friends or your towns local table tennis club.
