Hasbro or Mattel or Bandai or whoever designs a figure, offers it to stores (Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc), and if the stores decide to sell it then it goes into production, if not it doesn't. That's how it works and that's the purpose of Toyfair.
Retailers, for whatever reason, don't want to carry these big items even though they carry far bigger baby toys.
So on one hand you have these retailers telling you there's no market for these items, on the other fans are saying there is. What do you do? Offer it as limited runs and ensure there's enough interest to warrant the production run.
I'm mot saying Haslab is the right way to go about it, but it makes sense.
