>>10889198But the problem with that mentality is that it creates a disconnect between the rich and deep lore, to the aesthetics presented therein. Like, there's a lore reason behind a custodes little dagger, but asking what's up with the little thingy in bolt rifles is too much? I can ask, and get answers to, some tiny little details, but not others? Stupid reasoning.
>>10889213The thing is that it's not actually that futuristic, because a bolter is just an undeveloped, currently available weapon that is too exuberant for mass use. That little thingy is present in the new plasma, volkite, meta, and flamer gun, which is fine for the first three, as they are energy weapons that can't be explained by today's science, but bolters and flamers can, and so their existence and function is dubious, which pushes the audiences suspension of disbelief.
The rule of cool is a bit more complicated than people give it credit, and I think this is a fine example of it being pushed just a tad too far. Baby carrier, and bolt rifle top cylinder, are stupid and shouldn't be repeated.
>>10889077Though I may only be 4 years in, and more versed in the minis than the lore, this has been my observation as well. Whenever somebody says primaris looks bad, I ask for details, and they proceed to describe a detail present on the old "superior" armor designs, and have no words when this fact is pointed out to them. Aesthetically, I love primaris, and I understand why people hate them lore wise, but I wish people would actually think, too, rather than regurgitate stupidity.
On the baby carrier, Id like to see them do pretty much what they did with the invictor, and make it pilot like that. Either that or just make it a full on dreadnaught.
