>>10881068I don't know. The whole presentation just feels bland compared to its advertising and cutscenes. You walk into an area and a character starts talking, but you can also walk away anytime. You punch an enemy, but there's no significant reaction that implies you really hurt them. You shoot at them til they eventually ragdoll, but then I realize it's no different from any other shooter I've played or watched
>>10881133Yeah. I get it if it's just one "generic somebody" guy like Master Chief, Serious Sam, Doom Guy, Atomic Heart guy, etc, because they're all the same kind of playable character. But then they throw in a selection of characters with different personalities and movesets. From 1st-person, I'm just selecting movesets and voice clips but I'm not really seeing what makes the characters stand out visually. Then there are games like Cyberpunk where you create a character, but you never get to see your character
As for /toy/ reasons, if a character is only established as "the camera" during gameplay instead of the "character seen in action" then it becomes "anti-toyetic". Like, why would I want a toy of Gordon Freeman? He just shoots things, and he used a Gravity Gun that didn't really do anything til the final level. As for his design, what's so interesting about it? He's not ugly or anything, but where really is the motivation to buy it in the first place? Because the game certainly didn't inspire me to buy it at all
