Fair enough. If you're willing to go with more of a bascinet style there's a couple options on ali: the Brick Warriors design (in black, gold or gunmetal) and an OC helmet with movable visor that first appeared with some Crusader minifigs - can buy that helmet separately but it only comes in a metallic silver. Pic related, the mounted knight at left and the knight on foot in the middle with white shield are wearing it.

On that note I really like the conical helmet with mail coif that some of the other knights are equipped with, can also get them separately. They remind me of the classic Lego conical helmet, something the Chinese have failed to reproduce but this is the next best thing, though again it only comes in that color.

Thanks but I already have a lot of the official lego bascinet style visors, it was more specifically the armet style I was looking for. I'm not really army building, just looking for a few different accessories to make each knight in my little groups stand out more and armets are my favourite so wanted something like that to go with the official helmets that I have

Do you guys have recommendations for browsing sets, particularly looking for projects with a lot of pieces?
Just finished this and looking to buy & build a new set but navigating aliexpress trying to find ones feels like a nightmare.
I know brick4 can help finding chink versions of sets you know, but navigating that can be messy too (or maybe I ,just can't do it cause I don't speak chinkese)

No worries I dig it, been doing much the same with my various warbands. Been growing this scorpion-bedecked army of the undead for almost a decade, with the caveat that no weapon or headpiece appear twice (save for the basic spears used in the banners).

I mostly buy minifigs, weapons and accessories and modern military vehicles, don't think that's quite what you're looking for (this Maus is probably the biggest to date). My suggestion would be to start with those listings and browse the stores they're at. The suggested items beneath the listing is another helpful tool, I've found neat stuff that doesn't always turn up from directly searching.

Yeah I don't hold to that rule for most of my warbands, which can number from a quartet to some dozen. The background is that all the disparate lands in the empire have had their feudal obligations called in to meet the direst of threats (of which the scorpion army is part). Whether they be lands of modest means sending what soldiers can be spared or the wealthiest realms fielding small armies, all are gathering to fight a common foe. I just got all 4 cyberpunk corner sets from AliExpress so this is sort of a review. Only built one so far.
Features that aren't obvious from the listing:
They come with minifigs obviously inspired by 2077.
The light brick that feeds the fiber optics cycles between red, green, and blue, not one color. It can be twisted to remain switched on instead of pushed temporarily like Lego's light brick.

However, the minifigs legs are loose as fuck, I might glue them to the torso. And the fiber optics are trash. I replaced the source with a lightmybricks style LED and replaced the fiber with a better one that glows more.

Otherwise it's a really cool set. They erred on the side of too much clutch power, rather than not enough. Only a couple pieces were different from common Lego parts.

Here it is lit up with my mods.
The roof/sign fiber is too long and has too many bends so I needed to light it from both ends. I'm using three blue LEDs, plus the white ones for the internal ceiling lighting, sign, and that pink TV thing.

This is the fiber, 3mm is Lego compatible. You also want to cut it as sharp and straight as possible for the best light collection.
The LEDs are lightmybricks but frankly they're overpriced as fuck. There's lots of LMB compatible parts on AliExpress for about $1/LED which is about on par with a LMB 50% clearance sale. Search for "bit lights" and look for stuff with connectors like picrel.

Webrick has multiple sources so quality may vary. Wobrick is only gobricks which afaik are the highest quality chinkshit you can get.
Generally they have more clutch power and you may need a small rubber mallet to get a large plate really stuck down properly. Your fingers will hurt after using them for a few hours but they look good once assembled. I wouldn't use chink bricks for any moving parts is all. They can't touch Legos tolerances for friction.

I just bought a few smaller wedge plates & tiles to finish off a Lego Warthog since TLG refuses to give olive green the respect it deserves; such a great colour, but the part palette is extremely limited

I'll probably end up posting a photo of the build when it's done - I doubt I'll ever use these chink companies to build an entire MOC with, but they might be useful when it comes to getting parts in colours not available in real Lego

They're great for architecture cause you can't see the plain studs when they're inside walls. Also a good source if you need like 50 million grey tiles for city sidewalks or a roof or whatever.

I built the other 3, same unimpressive fiber packed in so I replaced all of it with the better stuff. I only had one blue LED left tho (and a bunch of white) so I couldn't light them all properly. I'm waiting on more colors and in the meantime working where they'll be in my layout.

Normally you could just color a white LED by putting it behind a transparent colored brick, but if you do that then it won't be bright enough for the fiber optic to really work, so the appearance of neon lights has to be a raw colored LED.

Haven't really noticed any disparity in quality if they're the same products, guessing they all come from the same manufacturers. Can even verify this with an order I received yesterday; part of the order is a set of 10 different horses I'd ordered once before from a different store, quality is the same. I always get shipping with tracking (aka AliExpress Standard) so my choice of stores often revolves around how well they combine shipping costs on individual lots; some stores offer free AE Standard if you spend a certain amount too.

That's tricky, most are fleshy, there are some reproductions of old lego knights in yellow flesh, all of the real world style knights are fleshy as far as i've seen
But a lot of the fleshies just have fleshy heads, so you can just headswap them, like pic related which was a fleshy head but I put this one on it (the lighting isn't great in my pic but the yellow shades are different enough that the difference between yellow mini "skin" and yellow cloth is obvious)

Thanks anon, ordered green & black dragons from the store that had both in stock. Black for my CMF Basil (per the OG set), and green for my Majisto house gwp that I'm "retro-fying"

Been wanting to pull the trigger on these for ages. 4x shipped from AE was the cost of one original (if I'm lucky), not incl. post. Definitely worth a gamble.

They do feel a bit off compared to the originals, mostly cuz of cheaper materials and production process but overall they're close enough to the mark. The one thing they didn't replicate is the pin-hole in the bottom of the jaw so you can fit the included flame piece properly, just has to be clenched between the jaws.

The cada official store is on aliexpress, and keepley has some buildings from anime licenses, everything else is hit or miss with brick quality. I expect the straight ripoffs of the lego creator expert buildings to be the shittiest because they're those stores that don't stick around for long.

anyone else getting "warning" mails about potential copyright issues from aliexpress as of late?
I bought a couple of individual minifigures, and i've gotten 3 of those mails so far, telling me that a product i bought (said minifigures) might be "forbidden". I can message the seller about it, and if it really is forbidden, i can return the item.

kek, i bet the lego lawyers made them do that.

Almost certainly bullshit they can't act on, this kind of thing is a common scam. Even if you live in the UK it is highly unlikely that they can get you for anything, buying counterfeit items for yourself is not actionable at all unless you're planning to sell them on. Even then, copyright infringement would be a civil rather than criminal case, and besides, you can find guys selling bootleg minifigs on market stalls in lots of towns in the UK.
And on a moral level, if it is stealing, stealing from a multibillion dollar is a positive.
tldr: it's a bullshit scam or scare tactic, it's not illegal to purchase counterfeits

As I went everything seemed to work fine, the end result is really good.

Only thing is, what's the paddle shift supposed to actually do in practice? When I roll it back and forth, should I be noticing something with regards to it? The engine and all works fine, I just don't get the paddle shift purpose
