>>10886658I completely agree with you there bro. gamer became a dirty word. I have a hunch it was a psychological operation by some American federal agency that wanted to nip an emerging identity group in the bud before it rose to any realworld politcal power or prominence.
If you remember 2012 internet, Gamers were overunning 4chan and reddit and places like gamefaqs and IGN were ruling internet traffic. gamers were pretty openly and confidently talking madshit about industry practices and once we turned on the journalists we were marked for death. The media is an arm of the state, so when we criticized journalists we threatened the status quo. Going "mask off" and attacking us as a group very blatantly created some angry radicals for life that wouldve otherwise been complacent vidyaplayers. But I guess that was a chance they were willing to take in order to make an example of us to the normies or whatevr. Now most of the gamers I knew in 2014 still game in secret and pretend to be casuals because of the negatice connotation "gamer" brings.
I hope you know what I mean. I know what you mean at least that GamerGate was a turningpoint.
I've come to terms with the fact that GG was an inevitable front in the culture war.
But unlike some, I dont give a fuck what cunts on twitter are doing and I never stopped being a gamer. posters like that guy who still act like gamers are a dirty word are the 4chan equivalent of a traitor. He collects toys, probably plays vidya, but he acts like hes better than us or that he'd get preferential treatment from feminist or communist overlords by being a suckup and calling "gamers" cringe like the good goy useful fucking idiot he is.
I fucking hate gamer gate and its consequences. I just wanted to play videogames.
>inb4 off-topic rant nobody gives a fuck about fallout TV show statues
Falloout fans have a right to bitch about the missed opportunity for cool toys
