>>10892839My problem is even if consooming is acceptable in your worldview, it's still a piece of worthless shit to consoom, the absolute pinnacle of functionless plastic garbage.
- they're not on-model representations of that thing you like, and they all look more like a Funkopop than whatever character they're supposed to be
- they're not posable or have play features like swappable faces or hairstyles
- they're not a bobblehead or a pen holder or anything, not one single function that would merit removing it from the box to use. They just sit there and look ugly.
- they're not actually rare or collectible but make their sales convincing retards they are some kind of investment that will appreciate over time
- somehow despite being made of 20 cents worth of generic injection molded Chinese child-painted vinyl, they are barely even profitable for the company making them
- they take shelf space away from more worthwhile collectibles and literally helped doom an entire retail store chain by giving them a reputation as "the place where you can't buy video games anymore because all they sell is Funko pops now"
Like, I have a shrine to my favorite character and I buy every physical representation of this character that I can find. I'm not hating on consooming. But I would never buy the Funko pop because it doesn't even look like the character. It looks like a beady eyed emotionless piece of trash with a giant head that does fuck-all. Someone who collects these and takes pride in it is like a guy who says he's an art collector but all of his framed works are ads he tore out of a magazine. It makes you recoil in disgust and confusion, why would anyone ever want this enough to pay money for it, and not just once, but a hundred times?
