What are the odds we get a gold label with a classic costume. This is one of the few McFarlane head sculpts that look like the character, but that suit is just way too retarded looking to justify a purchase. I know it's technically accurate to a very specific event, but its just awful.

There's a place for Toddified designs. Only McFarlane seems to make these weird as hell, edgy, fun designs like this new Page Puncher wave.

It's like as they grew into adults, collectors lost the fun and joy of just finding a weird toy in a store and buying it because it looked fun, not because it fit into some great plan for their collection that they had to have 3 different versions of Nightwing, each to fit into one team or the other.

MOTU now that it's been back for awhile also kind of fills that slot although more often its fun and cheesy, which is its own appeal, rather than fun and cool. But it also has some cool designs.

I like the Bizarro/Batzarro two pack. I originally got it specifically for Bizarro, but I actually dig the Batzarro. He's supposed to be a twisted and retarded version of Batman. And nothing is more retarded than not removing the original Batman Logo and just slapping an upside down Bat logo on top of it.

I can understand the GL John Stewart, particularly if this is a WalMart from the SE or even Mid West, but there's no reason to discount a Nigtwing Dick that isn't even being discounted on Prime or MTS's own online store.

It's definitely noticeable. The tips of the upside down bat logo wings even hang off the mold. They literally just glued it on top of the other logo. It's lazy and retarded as hell...which I guess I can justify because that describes the actual character. As weird as it is to say, it kind of works.

Sorry, but I just don't care enough about the toys themselves being slightly improved and reiterated over and over again. I'd rather we get reuse with deep cut characters that would never see release otherwise as opposed to only getting a handful of the same handful of A listers uniquely molded. In fact, judging from sales, I'd say the majority of the toy collecting community does too.

Its good to know the 7in Page Punchers team is still working on making their art, as McFarlane Toys used to heavily lean into. That team seems to be the auteurs, where the art gets made. Rather than just soulless reuse of beetle buck or Catwoman buck for people who want their 27th classic Batman and their 18th classic Flash and their 11th classic Aquaman.

Which, again, is why you get subpar product. It's why you have people complain that the boot is sculpted on the beetle buck and it isn't accurate to every design its being used for. You get that because the majority of the collecting community has no standards other than "new character I like, I must buy" and outright admits "I buy toys not because I think the toys themselves are good or not."

Those Kyles that are lime green instead of the proper Green Lantern colors? They shouldn't have sold to collectors who wanted a proper look. But plenty caved and bought them just because it was Kyle, and only now with Kilowog do they have to pay 70 bucks for a proper colored Kyle. The toy collecting community's standards just aren't high enough. Their mind is clouded by nostalgia.

First of all anon, what you may consider subpar, someone else may consider good enough. I for one am not bothered by the tiny details being slightly off on certain figures that would otherwise never see the light of day. I think more the problem with the toy collecting community is this ever shifting goalpost of what is considered "a good toy". Not only is it subjective, but the goalpost continues to shift and shift. You never know which figure will get a reprint/reissue/variant down the line, that's the nature of toy collecting. It's been this way since adult men collected toys. If you're looking for the "definitive perfect version" of a character, you're probably going to have to spend more than $23. I've iterated that several times over the course of these threads, but you guys fail to grasp that you're not going to get something "perfect" for the price of a Mcfarlane or Marvel Legend. You guys need more realistic expectations.

I didn't say anything about perfect. The articulation on any mcfarlane is inherently flawed. That is expected for domestic prices. But something as simple as--for example--them using lime green instead of the proper color is not exactly a small detail they should've overlooked.

Anything more than TWO is too many, agreed. But most of those are going to be sold, some of them were lot wins/purchases. I wanted that Nightwing, for example, because he came with the escrima sticks and most loose figures don't and I don't 'mint on card' collect and most of these are way overpriced MOC sales so I try to jump when I see the loose toys at decent or dirt cheap prices.

Another Bat was actually a Goodwill find, but came in a plastic bag with a Harley and a Poison Ivy so again shit I am trying to re-sell. I actually just won another set of auctions, all to get the Black Manta and Aquaman that match these, and that includes YET another Batman and another Superman, so that's another one I'll have to flip. I'm in no rush, I'm fortunately not cash poor and don't have any cash flow issues with sitting on these toys till I get the price I should from an EBAY buyer.

This store actually had no new Hasbro and the most recent McFarlane they had was the Animal Man.

Of what I came across, the most recent stuff (I think) was like Summer or early Fall 2023 releases.

They did have Spinmaster Aquaman stuff and some of whatever that cheap (Hasbro?) line is ITSV Miles and Gwen, and some cheap Titans The Marvels warming pegs, but no retro carded or Legends or anything like that at all for Hasbro.

Every OTHER aisle was well stock. They already had some Minion stuff for the new movie.

Why not just make a new chest instead, they were making a new mold for the upside down bat anyway. Or just make a new smooth chest piece for that body mold since they're going to keep reusing it.

There may be issues with the proportions or the way Scott's leg pieces would interface with the Superman pieces that just wouldn't work.

Also I think its cheaper for them to reuse an entire existing mold + make a smaller tool for the few new pieces like the head, than it is for them to reuse part of an existing mold + part of another existing mold + make a smaller tool for the few new pieces like the head. Less steps in the production process for each figure.

That's actually my thought. The plastic, especially when you look at it in blown-up images, just looks incredibly cheaply 'plastic' in the most low-end quality way.

Even here >>10898583 the quality of the plastic still looks worse, which might be an effect of the paint but either way, for something you display, it sucks ass.

Its easy to tell even at a glance these are low quality. The beetle buck is just so unimpressive already and yellow and red plastic really makes Kid Flash look hideous. And those decals of the faces on Psycho Pirate just look amateur.

Feels like maybe they originally intended to use a smaller body for Kid Flash (which they should have done because he shouldn't be this huge), and at that time the hands were decided upon. Then something happened and they just put him on the standard adult buck and left the hands too tiny.

Nearly every Mcfarlane is not working as intended, as there should be a thigh swivel at the top, but almost always, the sculpting is so tight it prevents any motion of this joint. I just got a NECA with a similar setup only it actually works there and wow, its like having an ML thigh cut without the ugliness of the cut

The paint and detail is also very much like what old statue era mcfarlanes were only with articulation. I feel like some of his team must have left and gone over there at some point.

You both could probably get either some different sheets of sandpaper (just to go to a decent hardware store and ask them to rec some sandpaper for sanding a painted plastic - that had some areas of surface damage - so it can be sanded all over 'surface smooth' for repainting. You can probably use some filler as well and gentle sand that. And then paint over the whole thing and fix it. It all depends on how much you care.

I was going to do all this for a figure that had a broken ear piece but couldn't find yellow paint (Flash figure) and it would have required repainting too many other yellow things on the figure or being a really clear unmatched paint issue that I would see every day, so I ended up getting a loose replacement figure and now I need to sell the damaged original.

Supes just ate up all the budget from Val, probably. They're the same body but Supes gets all this extra armor. He looks like fun, but while the head looks alright, too bad it didn't look a bit more like the art there. The jaw always seems too wide.

This is pretty dope. I don’t care about the others but a weird alien Borg Brainiac is a cool take on the character. Kinda curious about the story in the comic so I’m glad I at least get the last issue with that figure.
Curious what Todd would do with another wave of Superman villains in this aesthetic like Parasite and Metallo. This kinda stuff is exactly what I hoped would happen with a McFarlane DC line.

I haven't seen an MTS figure in the wild that I paid full retail for since before Thanksgiving, and I actually took those two back, one for entire credit and another for store credit - and since it's Target, it's not like I won't end up using that gift card - but instead of using it on a toy, it will probably end up buying cereal or coffee or some such.
