Even cops had speedboats to chase these smugglers. And spy jets to intercept private planes involved in smuggling. 90s Town was coke paradise.

When will we get a new Lego game from TT games? It's been nearly 2 years since the Skywalker Saga came out.
Maybe they could go back to the classic game style, Skywalker Saga was kinda mid and I miss the yearly or multiple games per year.

Instruction literally shows you to put coins in suitcases and then hide suitcases in side bay despite having openable inside cargo area I marked blue.
As you can see marked red, side doors and main area are not connected so if police asks you to open main cargo are it's empty as all these 'transported' goods are in side lockups.
Again I'm not making this up, it's all in instructions. I'm just trying to figure out all these clues.

If you want another example of sovlful Lego's edginess, pic related is a page from an early 1991 UK Lego catalogue.
It depicts that year's firefighting rescue boat putting out a large fire on a oil rig.

Two and half years prior in July 1988 the Piper Alpha oil rig blew up 120 miles off the coast of the UK.
167 men died via burning and drowning making it the deadliest oil rig disaster in history.

That means that Lego's designers heard about the disaster, immediately designed a set based off the boats that tried to quell the fire, then had it photographed in what is essentially an official Lego recreation of the disaster (including workers falling to their deaths),
and it was specifically used for the UK catalogue. Some of the children of the 167 dead probably saw this image back then.

Now The Lego Group puts wheelchairs in space and makes sets celebrating homos.

no, not that I'm against bootlego, and to prove it here's a bootleg knight charging a bootleg dragon, only official parts in pic related are the barely visible knight's head and the lance
I think the cows look different to their infill either because the finish on the cow's plastic is somewjhat different to normal bricks, or that I couldn't find the specific perfect matching era specific brown bricks in my box, I think it's the former because nearly all the red brown bricks i have are from the same era. These cows did come with the set in box new 15 years ago

Big if true. While the drug-smuggling seems light-hearted and humorous, this one is mean and in bad taste. Why would the designers or marketing team do this? Was the disaster treated as a joke in the media at the time? Can anyone recommend a minifig torso piece that would look like this type of monk robe? Orange across the chest with the right half of the chest showing.

I checked the Monkie Kid minifigs to no avail, haven't checked Star Wars specifically yet since I can't think of a character with a similar outfit.
Closest I've found so far is Dana from Ghostbustets but it's not ideal

I feel Lego stripped the set of all the tonal aspects and colour scheme that was one of the core aspects of the appeal, how the design took itself seriously. It reminds me of what they did to the Pirates of Barracuda Bay set. They've stripped it of the visuals that appeal to the primary demographic. Instead they've just applied an asthetic for another theme - in this case going along with their lion knights castle or more cartoony fantasy sets.

The official set looks like it's a childrens cartoon version of Dungeons & Dragons despite its primary audience both due to concept and pricing being late teens/adults. Like many other Lego sets, this one feels like it does not understand the target audience. As for the build itself, the Dragon is excellent. The rest of the build is a downsized, less detailed and more cramped situation. I don't see the justification for people to get it as opposed to just finding a way to acquire the Dragon seperately and depicting the Dragon alongside other sets.

Tldr. Lego made a set that should appeal to DnD fans into one that appeals to castle fans.

They actually improved it by linking the new set to a beloved classic one and giving it the original color scheme and undamaged ship option. I wouldn't have cared one bit about the original design and its sea of brown, but I bought Barracuda Bay. There's already an established style to the pirate theme in Lego and they did good bringing it back.

DnD one is a different matter though.

Sonic, it's the best current licensed theme out there right now. Most over licensed themes have degraded.
The sets look good and don't require electronic figures or big plates to recreate the video game, has tons and references and details and has sexy waifigs.

Have to say I’m disappointed, the initial ideas submission looks far better. To me it almost looks like Lego from a couple of decades ago, sort of lazy and basic. Maybe I will feel different when it’s officially released but given the recent excellent designs of Rivendell,Lions Castle, Viking Village etc this seems …. Less so especially given the price.

Does anybody else miss when every Lego theme was connected?
Aquaraiders skeleton in Atlantis, Brains from Power Miners in Atlantis, Monster Fighters causing the events of Galaxy Squad, Ultra Agents being a Galaxy Squad sequel and Chima, Ultra Agents and Clutch Powers characters in Ninjago
It made Lego feel like it was a connected universe, I just thought it was cool as a kid, nowadays we get stuff like references to Bionicle in Friends or City, or that Ninjago Dreamzzz crossover which technically wasn't a crossover because Ninjago is fictional in-universe. I just miss the Lego of the late 2000s to early 2010s.

All the little bits like the gelatinous cube and the mushroom men and even the more colorful inn or whatever the fuck it is are all improvements in my eyes. Generic is better, I’m not going to get this set because it will inevitably be overpriced but it’s better than the usual license theme approach. The brighter colours are also better than the prototype. Still wish it wasn’t being made and instead we just got more castle stuff.

Theme crossover isn’t a bad idea, but I think that the current space theme is not grounded enough to integrate well with city and isn’t abstract or fantastical enough or colourful enough to match the old best subthemes.

I needed a house for my Town minifigs, but everything was either grey or brown, or Friends colors. I ended up buying picrel bootlego, and i must say, aestethically wise it's the best build in the market for me, bar none. Only (relative) problem was a bit too much clutch power, but for the money (80€/$ for 2000 pcs) i'm pretty happy with my purchase.

You are right about the fact that big one offs won't cut it when it comes to full themes, but at least it's something.
I'm not sure about the direct correlation between licenses doing good and original themes being phased out. My point is that even original themes would shelfwarm if they are implemented badly or lazily, even if Lego had no licenses at all

Get a pair of tights and put it over the vacuum cleaner nozzle to act as an extra filter, go over the sets and it'll pick up the fine dust and you can just take the larger pieces off the tights. Any loose Lego pieces won't be sucked through.

I work for a company that is sublet by DK / Penguin publishing. We basically help fill in print production work for certain books. One of the things we help create is the Lego Star Wars visual dictionaries.

Originally this year, Lego had planned to release a Visual Dictionary as usual but also wanted to include a comprehensive Lego Star Wars minifigure guide as well. The guide being about 350 pages, it's huge.

The guide was put off in production due to setbacks on Lego's end. But now that the work order is in production, I can confirm that shortly, news will surface that a Cloud City Boba Fett remake is coming. The figure will be included in the book and be the exact same print as the one in the 10123 set with some differences. First, it is made from new grey colours, and second, it has a "25 years of Lego Star Wars" on the back. It's suppose to go on preorder for May 1st of this year.

Tomorrow at work, I'll snap photos of the figure, it's insert and whatever else and give you guys the first peak.

depends on how long the line lives, currently it seems to be really popular so atleast another full year of sets wouldn't suprise me
but who they decide to make figures of is really difficult to tell since it does seem like it depends on popularity like with Rosie and Marshall but then they also have characters line bunnie who isn't as popular as the others to myk knowledge
also doubt they will make any horse villagers since they made reuseable heads for all the animal species that they can easily reprint but they made a specific mold for julian that they can't reuse

I keep refreshing Bricklink to see the Series 4 finalists, but no updates so far. It's supposed to be announced today

There are probably 10 sets I would be super happy to buy and want made, but this Western Town all-in-one set has to be the one I want the most. It has so much play value. Also rooting for the Imperial Trading Post by the same guy, an Adventures playset, a Sea Lab playset, an Imperial Sloop ship and a Viking longship.

Honestly, I think they'd have been better off using generic villains instead of specific characters, but I can see why they'd want to tie into recent and/or popular D&D products. You can probably thank Baldur's Gate 3 for the Mind Flayer (octopus head) and the Gith {yellow elf thing in the top row).

Well I think most of them are fine for that, if I didn’t know lady of pain I’d still assume that she was a character because of how specific she looks. I think the others are fine because they’re generic enough types of villains too. Not that you can’t create your own lore for a lady of pain minifig but she’s not as generic as the others

I was planning on getting the Stuntz Rocket Racer, along with the new Basil and build vehicles for both of them to ride on (possibly using the new City go-karts as a base since im just starting out). Wish we got that cheap King Arthur set. None of these really stand out to me unfortunately. I think the siege encampment would have been great to attack the lion knights castle with but at 2600 pieces you know it’s going to come out to a ridiculous $300 price tag. Something smaller for $150 would be much better for this type of set. The train is the only other one I’d get but no doubt it’ll also cost $300+
