I get the appeal of Sakamoto's stuff but it's mostly fluff, it's gaiden, it's for goofs to tie together diverse toy releases. I wouldn't really want him to define characters. Though, I personally don't see the Fossilizers being especially deep. If I were writing them, they'd basically be puppets for Vertebreak, with the exception of Wingfinger, who has enough will not to fall under her control. I imagine Ractonite being barely verbal, mostly grunting and reluctantly interpreting for Paleotrex, who I'd treat as a high-strung berserker who only screams and yelps in anxious frustration. They'd be like a murderous, autistic Laurel and Hardy. I'd also prefer 'Trex to be a her, what can I say, she just looks like a she to me. Wingfinger is a quiet ninja type who prefers actions to words, speaking directly and efficiently whenever possible. I'd absolutely make him unironically say the manga/anime cliche "It cannot be helped" regularly. Vertebreak talks endlessly. She will not shut up unless Megatron tells her to, and Megatron is the only other Predacon she shows any respect, being like an obnoxious little sister who insinuates herself into positions near leadership whenever possible. "Go play in a tar pit!" is the kind of thing she'd shout at her puppets when she tires of their presence or Megatron grows weary of their groaning, clanking, and moaning. She would ironically bite a Maximal's ankles if she thought it would win her leader's approval. Thank you for coming to my autistic TED Talk.

Just got this dude a few minutes ago, I'm glad he only cost me 15 altogether. I'm happy to have him, but I wasn't expecting his scorpion mode to be so awkward. Oh well, at least he doesnt have lobster like proportions like the original, I guess. Still he'll go very well with the other Toy Boyz

The range of movement is ok.
No waist though because of transformation. The back is folded into the torso so there's no waist.

The arms and the legs can do 360 but the pegs for the transformation get in the way so for movement you have to spread the limbs out to not to hit the body

No feet movement, which is a shame.

The figure does look okay in action poses. Though I always had a hard time having chicken leg figures to stand properly because I couldn't tell whether the upper legs supposed to be straight going into the hip or you're supposed to have it in a sideway kind of look.

Yes, this is the beast machine version so it is not supposed to look like actual animal. But this I'm not so sure.

The only complaint I have is I wish the hind feet have ball joints in them so it can stand slightly better than this.

To be fair it's only about $10 so I can not complain.

actually I can complain because I am supposed to get Cybertron starscreen today too but when I open the package store owner send me silver hawk by mistake.

Having so many holes on his side huets him a bit I think. Idk, I do like it, but it doesn't fall within the categorical parameters of what I collect- nor reaches the highs needed to exceed those parameters. Also I was thinking, its odd that we haven't seen a Prime Optimus Prime yet. Surprising, Optimus is always garaunteed to sell.

The 5mm ports are definitely a part of it, but there are just so many other sacrifices of the form, presumably for the sake of the robot mode, that it just looks completely nutless in alt mode. The proportions are all wrong, and even if the panel lines were completely invisible, the rest of the bodylines just clash with each other. Not to be that guy who expects a modern toy to be identical to a 15 year old toy, let alone a Prime First Edition, but it just has none of the flow or attitude. Even the horns seem impotent.

Yeah, as much as I'm dumping on it, I really wanted an excuse to buy it becaue I just love muscle car Transformers, but between this and Lockdown... yikes.

I think the big issue is the body sculpting I circled on the door. Even if you lost the 5mm port, that sculpting just doesn't match the bodylines, or the sort of design that would be on a muscle car like this at all. Maybe if it were a more modernized muscle car, something akin to a current gen Mustang, but then the headlights and grill are just the flattest, boxiest shit imaginable, and the entire bumper is compromised for the sake of the feet. Wheels are a bit skinny, but at least they're fucking pinned and don't have a giant, red clip showing through the center for once.

Technically it's not animation accurate at all - we never get to see Filch's robot head in the show, since she remains exclusively in bird mode. The only time we ever saw it was in a card packed with a Minifigure of her.

I dunno, all the pics on the wiki definitely make those parts seem gray. Hasbro just went full retard. I know I shouldn't have expected a new mold for him either, but it's an asbolute shame that literally none of the coolness of his proper alien pincer goon alt mode is present anymore. They may as well not even have bothered. I love Headmasters, but all the ones we've gotten since the end of TR have been pretty poor.

I would have kept the Monsterbots because the idea of them becoming headmaster partners with the Battle Beasts is just too perfect. The Triggerhappy bros and the Jumpstarters aren't supposed to be Headmasters, but I think the gimmick suits them, and those toys all came out bangers. Even Hot Rod and Kup I found made super charming Headmasters, especially the LG versions that were Targetmasters as well. The Prime/Octane mold was surprising, stupid fun, and the Megatron was brilliant just because it facilitated the purple, triple-changing, G2 version. Sky shadow was just plain GOAT...

I dunno about that. This looks maybe a little yellowed, but that could be legitimately from age at this point. Seems like the intention was plain gray. Picrel is DEFINITELY less yellow than the new toy.

Is my Transformers display any good? I mostly only collect smaller scale, but I found it works decently with the Ark. I like playing around with it, but mostly always put it back displayed as something similar when i finish messing around

Some tips about the Ark: I don't know if you did it on purpose or not but you're supposed to deploy the stern tower in ship mode.

Also, you didn't connect the middle section correctly. There are some little grey tabs that go under the parts painted black (marked in red in this pic). After these are in place you need to peg the middle section in (the one marked in blue).
If you have it displayed in vertical position it's better to do it correctly, otherwise the whole weight of the top part is all on those little grey tabs and the thin panels underneath. Also the softer plastic in the grey square piece isn't "getting used" to be in the correct position and if it warps slightly it will be a bitch to tab in the future (and it's already difficult in some copies out of the box).

In general, it's not bad, but I'd suggest putting the ark center, with the airstrip rotated 90 degrees and moved to the right. Right now, it's a very right-heavy view, and with so few decepticons you want to draw the attention of the viewer closer to them, so having the large ark near is key.

Someone in the last thread asked what RID15 girls still need to be made, so I went ahead and looked up all the RID15 girls, excluding Prime Arcee's cameo in the comics.
- Retrofit and Nightra are Strongarm variations who have never had toys. Easy redeco potential.
- Skyjack, Cyberwarp, and Scatterspike all got toys in the original toyline. The first two were just dinky limbs in the RID15-style combiner sets. Scatterspike was a straight redeco of Quillskipe, so she didn't have her show head design.
- Glowstrike and Rizza are both bugformers. No toys.
- Overhead is a recolor of another (male) character, Terrashock. No toys of either.

Doing a custom based and to make a long story short I'm going to have pretty much a whole TR Optimus minus the head. I'd like to try to make a custom OC with the leftover but I'm not coming up with ideas. Honestly this might be another Windblade situation where photography doesn't do it justice. Either way, I got this 4 pack for like 20 bucks because I had Target bux to spend so I'm happy. Cliffjumper looks cool, the G1 character looks neat, I already have Tarantulas with another on the way with the BWVS figure, and Tarn is whatever. Comes with a sword I guess so that's nice.

No problem anon, this is how it looks on mine. The grey square seems to be a problematic part that refuses to stay pegged securely in some cases, on mine it wasn't that bad out of the box and as I transformed the thing over an over and keep pushing it into place in ship mode now it stays where it should no problem. In fact, I can lift the Ark on one hand by the center and the thing doesn't untab by itself, so the whole ship doesn't bend or sags.

By the way, If you always display it in vertical position I also recommend having some folded paper underneath the center part of the Ark, the yellow block between the two pairs of thrusters. I don't know if this happens on all copies, but as far as mine goes the only parts that touch the ground in vertical position are the two pieces on each side that you need to attach yourself when you first remove it from the box. The center is half a millimeter short of resting on the table and I don't think leaving the weight of the whole thing to be resting on pieces that just snap into place is a good idea on the long term. Maybe it's just me being way too careful, but better safe than sorry.

People mentioned this yesterday, but the pics and stream hammer it home. We're not getting a new Squeezeplay, it's actually Cancer from Masterforce. A number of details match that version, like the TM being based on Cancer's suit from the show with the new face based on the show look, the color only power readings on the chest and he also has Browning, a 6 inch mini Decepticon that could turn into a gun for humans to use...though he's been upscaled to a transformer sized gun.

Also my G1 Hubcap is a ko he has a plastic back plate instead of diecast and they made the tires strangely larger, but he transforms easier than the vintage ones who are prone to chipping if you accidentally hit the arms against the car body.

The reason investors push for this lunacy is because they think it translates to GLOBAL sales.

They think "if we are inclusive of everyone, it'll sell everywhere!" but very few properties work that way, and even fewer can be TURNED to work that way, so it ends up failing.

Like, DEI in a create-a-character open world RPG like fallout? Not a problem, cause variety is part of the selling point.
Take a property and turn characters inside out to appeal, and you've alienated the base while also most likely having hired someone who doesn't actually write well, they just write things that get talked about a lot.

You gotta remember, for as long as entertainment has been an industry, people sometimes get hired because they're talked about, not because they're good.

Now that we've seen so many giant flops that did everything "right" companies abandon the SEG score (social, environmental, governance score is what these investors use to determine if you promote the "right" things) because investors won't fund a proven failure, only a *potential* failure.

IDW was proven failure. Sales had plummeted, and Transformers was carrying them for years. Then they made a big show about hiring women writers and women artists (which might have been a first for Transformers Comics, but comic fans have long gotten used to women writers and artists) and it started to become apparent that they had some sort of quota to meet because their creative staff was drastically changing.
They *ALSO* bungled GIJoe, making it TWO hasbro properties that they ran straight into the ground.
Hasbro did a LOT to try and bring new fans into IDW, even including comic packins
They had IDW write new toy characters like Windblade into their series.
The fact that they did this giant universal reset and then lost the license 2 years later suggests they were given an ultimatum to right the ship.
Instead, they blew it up.

Second of all, it's not like they were sneaking in gay characters under Hasbro's noses. That's not how licensing works. Hasbro has to approve anything IDW publishes, and they did. In fact, Hasbro was encouraging them to have gay characters. If Hasbro didn't like an aspect of a story, they could veto it, an action they did take on other aspects. Hasbro vetoed blood in AHM. They vetoed Bumblebee dying in the Ongoing.

A lot of it boils down to how stubborn people are about their world view.
For decades, people in the west thought "All we have to do to get China to stop being communist is show them how great capitalism is! We'll do that with Hong Kong!"
now, it's obvious to everyone, that just let China consolidate more money and they haven't changed a bit (in the human rights side)
When you start with an attitude of "this makes sense" and then assume it's the application of the goal that's the problem, not that the goal has inherent flaws, you'll screw all sorts of stuff up.

My buddy did a job interview with Facebook a few years back, and he asked them "So, what do you plan to do to address all those misuse of data that is in the news" and their response was "we have a great, elaborate plan on how to explain it in a way that'll make people WANT us to use the data that way"

He decided then he wouldn't take the job.

Transformers fans please explain this. Last night I was going through random porn photo galleries out of boredom and I saw something strange. I doubletook because I thought I recognized a mini-con port/adapter and went back to check. Someone stuck some grey space ship/fighter jet looking minicon halfway up their vagina. Is this something transformers fans are doing out there? What purpose does this fulfill. A mini-con transformer is so small it doesnt make any sense, why what someone do this? Why not just use a banana or something?

For those curious I have no clue what the transformer was, like i said it looked like a grey ship or fighter jet. The view of the mini-con was from the bottom and it didnt look like it had any color other than grey. I wonder where that transformer is now and what its fate was.

That... literally never happened in IDW. The only times Unicron has been (partially) organic was the Armada cartoon and the Devil's Due G.I. crossover comics.

yeah that could have been it, whatever it was, the minicon port was on the bottom of the ship, and the port itself i remember being light grey like the light grey in that image. from the bottom i only saw the lower half of the plane (the nose of the ship was crammed inside) and i dont remember it having any darker shades but i dont remember.

most likely, it is the 40th anniversary and Optimus Prime is the face of the brand so there's probably a market for people not normally into Transformers willing to get an Optimus.
Plus it's just nice with reissues and some people might not affoard a 86 commander but might want the Kingdom mold

I'm guessing the Fallen and the 6 other Primes released that year will take center stage in it, with the Aerialbots or Superion in the background.

Unless there's a core class reveal, I don't think we'll see the usual main characters on it like Optimus, Starscream, Megatron, Bumblebee, etc

2010 is before Mike Costa's run even. Furman's run was infamously selling terribly despite its quality and brought on All Hail Megatron, which also didn't do too well financially or critically, this time, which made IDW focus on their tie-in comics for the movies/shows/games during the early 2010s.
From 2012-onward, it was exclusively Roche, Roberts, and Scott's stories that got any sort of attention; are you seriously going to try to argue to me that the utter garbage that was Barber's stories were somehow either better-selling or better-written than any of those three? Yeah right.
All of IDW TF gradually slumped in sales during the 2010s, mainly because it was getting too convoluted for people to follow and IDW kept fucking up the story orders in their collections, and because comics were slumping in general as it was. That's the entire reason IDW rushed out a reboot in 2018 in the first place, only to have it blow up in their face when the reboot's pacing was too slow for most people.
But yea, blame the good stories because they had a couple well-written relationship drama subplots that didn't even remove from the main stories. That's intelligent and reasonable.

I can see why they'd say that, since there really isn't any reference for what the non-mutant head of prototype Tarantulas was going to have. All images of Tarantulas from that time treated the mutant head as his regular one (as BlackArachnia got the "robot" head)

Yes, technobabble WAS intrinsic to Star Trek; it was there from the pilot episode. It was conceived specifically as one of the tentpoles of the show, and was a big reason the show appealed to its initial audience.

But paranormal stuff was only something the writers threw into Transformers when they exhausted their slim knowledge of sci-fi tropes. Most other iterations of Transformers have very little, if any.

my point is, in fiction you can have a thing that interacts with the supernatural, but isn't actually magic by itself. Usually when the magic reacts to certain materials or some junk. or if it's a conduit.
One of the most important things to be as a religious person is rational about how not everything is that. Sometimes things are just regular physical objects, y'dig. Sometimes insanity is brain damage, sometimes it's demons. you can't act like it's always one or the other.

Most of them we don’t see transformation sequences for and then for Firestar she actually canonically DOES partsform. Now that we have things like weaponizers, modulators, fossilizers, junkions and armorers - why not? If they were done in a similar fashion they could be animation accurate and be part of a play pattern.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if they sell better as weaponizers since the fan base has enjoyed getting creative with the system or just used them to arm their other figures. So add that with interest in fembots and you hit 2 niches in one.

Firestar was actually designed NOT to partform
That whole episode, everyone who wasn't an existing character just disassembled and reassembled for their transformation because the animators didn't know what to do.

Firestar has very clear cues of exactly how she transforms. She folds backwards like a clamshell, with her windshield coming out from under her chestplate, which is now the roof. The forearms slide up to the bicep area and the hands disappear into the forearms. The panel on the side of her leg flips over so the entire length is red, and her truck bed unfolds from the square on her back.

The fact that they haven't made a proper toy of her is kind of insane.

Honestly - aside from wheels not being visible - the female autobots in general have elements in their designs that make transformations very possible.

Elitas actual alt mode [not the fake fan one they used as reference for her legacy alt mode] has her knees/legs and arms all at the back of the car. Chest and waist hood of the car. Head is behind windshield. They could easily figure out a scheme that puts the windshield on the back. Hide front wheels in the chest, and put rear wheels on upper arms. And she’s the “hard” one to figure out a transformation scheme for…

Hasbro keeps making the mistake of trying to make the female autobots *skinny* like Arcee. Their actual builds though are much closer to the likes of Hot Rod than they are to Arcee. They have a look of armor and bulk to their bodies. It’s so frustrating that we are over 10 years into getting female figures consistently and they still keep floundering the opportunity to make them GOOD.

Looks like what happened was just confusion from all sides because the Stream didn't actually SHOW the new album art. Nemesis is a toy I really wasn't feeling in person but in person she's a lot better, but she has so many minor niggles that really could have used more time in the oven. The little flaps above her shoulders just staying there instead of folding up, or how her torso is a complete bluff from any angle not front on... and the way her exposed transformation hinges lead to her shoulders, it all just feels very "spent more of the dev process over thinking the concept than refining the final design". I don't even hate on the fact that they really were gungho on her having bent knees in some way from start to finish.

Not sure who you'd even include with the Nemesis, though. If it had been the Darksyde, at least you could have it come with NAVI-ko, but I can't think of anyone that would make sense even as a vague reference for the Nemesis.

Hm, so it isn't Cybertron Vector Prime. That's the one I really like but I guess that old figure is still pretty solid. If they're doing Primes next year seems like this would have been a good chance for the Cybertron version and the other version in the coming years. How about a whole bunch of reasons?

-I don't order online 'cause Hasbro QC already sucks, and plastic windows help protect figures in stores from getting even more screwed up by kids and ham-fisted man-children messing with them, while still letting me see if the paint apps are okay.

-Less likely to see heads or accessories stolen right out of the box, which by the way Walmart will almost always still leave on the shelf.

-Hasbro won't have to do any more stupid crap to prevent stealing like putting Gears's chest wrapped in tissue behind him.

-Returning the plastic window might mean eventually returning the plastic tray, which holds the figures much more securely than current cardboard inserts and reduces the likelihood of paint getting scratched off as it rubs against the cardboard, instructions, etc.

-Plastic windows will allow for potentially larger windows in the future, so we can go back to seeing more of the figure than just the head and shoulders.

-Plastic improves overall structural integrity of the box around the window area, reducing the amount of rips and scuffs. Hasbro's recent return to actual corrugated cardboard in Legacy United wave one instead of the previously used cardstock already helps, and this will do even more.

-As a bonus, the plastic getting thrown away in the US is almost guaranteed to end up safely in a biomass landfill, not hurting poor sea turtles. As long as the trash isn't sold to China or India for scrap, its environmental impact is negligible. Plastic-free packaging doesn't save the planet; it saves Hasbro money as they pinch every penny they can while bragging about how wonderful and moral they are. People whining about "more trash to throw away" either don't know what they're talking about, or are hypocrites who want to look like they're helping the environment without actually doing anything good, so screw them.

And Hasbro is the one trying to save money here, so that isn't an incentive for them.
