Here's my display shelf. I have a fairly complete TWR collection of the standard gauge characters. Most of it is packed away. I pretty much have one of each character from each main era. The early 1992-94 models with flat magnets, the mid 90's to 2000's round magnets and the 2012 Mattel models because I liked a lot of the details they added. I started collecting these probably around 2015 or so. My collection as a kid had lots of generic track and trains. I distinctly remember having Gordon, James, Toby, Oliver and several of the narrow gauge characters.

Tomy bought out Learning Curve in 2011 and sold the Wooden Railway through 2012. Mattel would buy out Hit Entertainment the following year and have handled the line since.

I have memories of one of those die cast toys of a train I can't remember the name of. It was a purple one with a face on the front and back of it, like it could talk with its ass or something. I don't know, it feels like I'm misremembering a fever dream.

Looked it up, turns out it's actually to see what's behind him when he's going uphill. He's on a really mountainous railway, so he has to push his coach (which also has a face) uphill and she gives him information about what's going on in front of them.

That doesn't make sense. Why would they need to look back if they're traveling up? There's no important information behind them and rolling stock act as their eyes, up front. The only thing about the rear face that makes sense is being able to see the track when going downhill due to the fact that they travel down the mountain backwards.

I had the Take-Along version of this fella. I had any merch of it since the episode aired, but something about this one aroused my interest. I ended up getting him along with theTidmouth Shed set, Annie & Clarabel, and Spencer. Look at its little face.
