Honestly, I think he looks good! I'm sure there are some people who would rather have toy-accurate red instead of toon-accurate blue, but I'm guessing there'll probably be a red version eventually, either in Gen Selects or as a Target exclusive (since they seem to like red characters) or something.

I can show youse guys the hackjob I did on Antagony because the ant legs looked so retarded out of the box
I actually reversed part of the middle set of legs to fix the shitty proportions, and I added joints everywhere the legs bent a way they shouldn't.. plus I turned the rear legs entirely upside down by swapping them, then sawed off and reglued the tips (the front tips needed regluing too, way too sharp an angle)
It's not that great.. but I've learned enough that if I do this for PF Inferno, I'll be able to do it a hell of a lot better. That's a big IF, though. because it's still kinda jank even after all that. I might just saw and glue his legs into solid but properly-angled ones. or I might use some hinge joints instead of just all these ball joints. or China might come through and give me replacement ones. Either way, for Inferno I think I can make the middle set of legs partform, and stow away clipped to another set of legs in robot mode.. then clip new, bigger hands around his wrists

I know how Ginrai works but for a masterpiece I would expect more complex engineering and not simply have the real windshield hanging in the back like the 30 year old toy. What is even the point of making him a MP if the proportions are going to still look like shit?

The point of Masterpiece is just to be a good, high-end toy of the character. It's not about being complex for the sake of being complex. It's not about changing the character design to something different because some random person thinks the original character design looks bad. The figure is accurate to the character, is well detailed, looks to have a lot of articulation, and hopefully is made of quality plastic without any QC issues or design flaws. That is the most you should expect from MP, not some arbitrary "it's MP so it needs X amount of transformation steps" standard.

I think everyone gave up on them doing the remaining AoE Dinobots already.
But Fall of Cybertron is from only a few years earlier. It would be the same age demographic. The cheap tie-in game for AoE even recycled the fuck out of the High Moon games, with both Grimlocks in it.

The original toy's wolf head and bird claws are so much better than what the new one has it's not even funny. Also hate that they covered his back with bad sculpted feathers that look more like fish scales drawn by a kid. He's supposed to have fur there.

The old ones can actually be posed to look good in flying poses instead of having those dumb looking flat things.

Also the only mechanical kibble in the front legs is the little piece of machinery in the middle of the interior side that you're supposed to disregard in beast mode. But the morons changed the transformation without taking into account little design choices like that so now they end on the exterior part of the legs in beast mode.

The original toy could hold the launchers, which were separate accessories. The character model treated them as permanently attached to his wings, and would usually just treat him as not having a weapon in robot mode. The Marvel Comics would usually just throw a generic gun into his hands in the instances he needed a weapon, ignoring his sword *and* the launchers.

well here's the thing... yes, this should have been bigger, but in robot mode, due to how the transformation works now, the tail already hangs REALLY low. if they really wanted to do fun things with the alternate timeline idea started in Kingdom, they could give us versions of all the podfallen characters as the opposite factions, complete with coincidentally similar yet faction-appropriate beast modes. And surely Tigatron's name was something-else-atron, and Blackarachnia was black-something-ia.. Inferno makes sense, that's a good autobot name. and airazor is a sensible name for a chick who used to turn into a jet of some kind.

i think the next big improvement would be a reliable and easy tool for adding metal pins, and also cheap and readily available pins for the tool to use. You can make a decent 3d printed action figure now, but something like a transformer is going to require at least a little metal reinforcement.

The last one was actually Transmutate (which is why the dodgy alchemy name) after I realized making Rampage a reference to Sky Lynx mirroring the rivalry of his G1 namesake removed the water specialist of the Predacons. Based on how I would imagine character personalities would change, I can't imagine this version of Beast Wars being as popular as the actual show. Tbh, i agree. Although i like the metallic blue better, he was always purple in the show. As fars as robot modes, I'll say some nice things about him before i tear him down... His arms have great articulation, due to some hidden flaps in his tiger head and cockpit shoulder. He aslo has ankles. As for the bad, well... His bird legs don't really tab in anywhere outside of the calf area with one peg. His wings, while better articulated with an additional hinge are hollow and unsightly. For $55 they could really do better (tell me I'm a sucker, i know). Also, he's armed with a feather duster. Should be pretty good at fighting dustmite the predicon.

New tigerhawk definitely wins in wingspan and arm articulation. Here's a pic with those hidden flaps in the arms opened up and extended. I get a little pissy thinking about his lack of wrists. Hasbro proved with Wrekgar thay they can have fold-out writs that also swivel. Why can't we have them on all melee caracters? Snarl has them! On another note, one more area where old Tigerhawk shines is his head! Better sculpt and he can actually look up. These bots could really use a dumbbell joint for their necks.

also yeah, that's definitely indigo with a purple sheen. they should have absodefinitely made it metallic. also the claws and hips don't look like this new toy, they're colored like the old one. so THAT was an error for sure.
the beige... is definitely beige, but on the new toy it looks way too dark bronze.

hmmm maybe the legs are the same beige as his main wing portions.. he really doesn't have much of that color on the show, it feels like it was just thrown on to spruce up the toy which was almost pure white. and in the new toy, a lot of that bronze is added because I guess the sprues had to be similar sizes.

I liked the ruined planet, the big fight where they get their faces ripped off and for some reason it looked like flesh under the metal, the big looming dinosaur monster. I have 2 Bay SS figures myself, and I can vouch for them though they are not flawless. Those being Universal Parks DoTMegatron and Galvatron. Galvatrons feet just being out there does suck and honestly I can't see why they couldm't figure something out, but he feels great and the transformation is really cool. Honestly he'd be perfect if not for the feet I think.

DoTMegatron is a surprising bit of engineering I think. Its incredible that he can become that truck, hes super cool.

See I don't believe this. Marvel/Sunbow was just as much a hired gun as Hanna Barbera. And I'll tell you, GoBots was so far ahead of TransFormers it's not funny if you get out of the console wars mindset.

The small core cast thing we loved about Beast Wars and Animated? Started right there with GoBots. Prominent female characters, with neither the feminist baggage nor big pink mommy stereotype? GoBots made it work. Go beyond Scramble City and make _any_ toy work as a combiner without crippling design sacrifices? GoBots again. Ball joints? GoBots did it first. Also three astronauts and military personnel have a much more plausible reason to hang out with alien robots than an oil rig worker and his son, let alone literal children in later series. Both factions had real bases while we _still_ don't have one for Autobots or Decepticons (took 35+ years to even see the ships). And over just ~80 4" toys, they did alt modes that took _decades_ to appear in a TF line if ever.

Seems pretty stupid to crucify them over some punny names. As if Coptur is any more stupid than most of Cheetor, Rhinox, or Dinobot.

You go back to that scene in "Sentinel." The human-built robot goes haywire, scans the Renegades, determines they're robots, and allies with them against the organic humans and the Guardians. Completely outgunned, the Guardians give it a specific frequency to scan them again on and suddenly it sees organic brains.

BRAINS SHAPED LIKE THEIR ROBOT HEADS. For fuck's sake, their brains should've all been the same shape since they came form the same organic species. Obviously Scooter is feeding it fake visuals. Of, you know, the one thing that will turn this robot against the Renegades so it stops attacking Earth. It's clear as fucking day.

I've always maintained that it's basically what Ira Graves did to Data in "The Schizoid Man" episode of Star Trek TNG. I know GoBots predates TNG by a couple of years but there are so many Star Trek tropes in the show and TNG shared alot of writers/stories with TOS. If you were thinking with that sort of sci-fi (as opposed to, say, Star Wars or Dr Who) mindset, I think such parallels years down the road are perfectly plausible.

But it still really comes down to everything else saying robots and this one instance saying otherwise in service of an episodic plot that's never brought up again.

Did you though? If the transporter turns matter into energy and back, wouldn't it be the same molecules in the same configuration just in a different place? That would seem to be a requirement for A) not being able to beam "through" shields or B) somebody to get "stuck" in the buffer like Scotty did. But we could go in circles forever.

yeah star trek doesn't ALWAYS make it clear, but they are -transmitting- your particles, not just a signal with a copy of your particle code. otherwise they could just email that over in advance.
The rare occasions it causes cloning is when the transmitted particles bounce in a way that the machine turns them back into you (Filling in as much as it needs to) twice.

I didn't mean to turn this intro a thread on Federation technology or philosophy. It's just interesting to me the sort of internal consistency Star Trek maintained for a long time and that adjacent fiction indirectly benefited from. There's definitely stuff about the GoBots universe that doesn't make alot of sense but alot less than if you couldn't fall back on "well, it works this way in Star Trek."

Well there was that one episode of DS9 where O'Brien kept skipping forward a few hours and jumping back.

There were also two episodes of GoBots that featured an Astrobeam with no time limit. One was a prototype, the other was a modified Astrobeam disruptor that required a massive amount of power.

So what were the images all of these were copied from? Garfield was blatantly Blaster since he has a lot of vestigial traits, but the rest I'm too weak to recognize offhand. Like I first through this was Chromedome's, but the pose is actually different so it must have been another as the source.

Another thing worth pointing out is how it's left VERY open-ended as to whether or not the humans actually managed to convince the businessmen in the past of the GoBots' danger. Maybe they did and that led to the potential future of the GoBots becoming progenitors of a sort to the Transformers, OR they could have succeeded and that future never came to pass at all.

It's always funny to me to see pics like these in the design phase. Same person designed Inferno right? These drawings have the bodies so narrow looking and then the final product looks almost completely different. I guess you don't need to be a master artist to get this job. I'm not taking a dig at them either. I'm actually kind of jealous. I always wanted to design Transformers.

Either way, I'm glad they went the "death crystal" route because she looks much better in green.

Just got my Pred Sandstorm and TM2 Megatron in. Legacy TM2 Megatron is pretty darn big and hes very solid, I'm pretty damn happy with him. His chest didn't tab in quite right at first because there was some plastic flaring in the slot that on the chest which the head section's base clips into, but some fiddling with the exacto took care of that and now hes fine. Pretty nice figure especially for $40.

As for Sandstorm, well I have Buzzworthy Scorponok already, but I got him for cheap. I really love his colors though. Soon enough my Beast Wars characters collection will be complete, although I'm still not sold on Tigerhawk.

Hes still decent, fun easy transformations and good size with all the basic articylation on big mode, greatly improved with the backpack mod (just remove one pin), but he lost his tank mode, feel more complete if you get him the dna kit.

Don't try to downplay it, these hip things looked like ass and it was a mess of a figure to boot. And all the retools of that mold were pretty bad too, even after removing the crappy feet they still had problems like the torso not locking in place. It was just flawed.

Kawamori is good at designing "realistic" jet robots and I appreciate his Macross designs, but he needs to start from scratch and create a new design like he usually does to reach full potential. If they released it as an "Starscream Kawamori ver." after a more accurate Starscream was already on the market it could have been a fun novelty, but I can totally understand people disliking it back int he day when that was the one and only MP Starscream.

I just realized that Jhiaxus has a surprisingly similar transformation to Armada Jetifre.
The undercarriage looks way similar, even with a spot for a minicon to act as the landing gear.
makes me wonder if they were working on a jetfire, but shelved him for 2027 and salvaged what they had by turning it into jhiaxus.

I love my Spacecase version of this guy - while I wish he came in his G2 colors (and apparently he was planned to, but the idea was scrapped), the opaque blue with silver Cybertronian tattoos looks so cool.
I also like that the way this mold's arms transform lets you turn his wrists around to become blasters so he's not just stuck with a trident (which also has a small gun sculpted onto its tip, but gun arms are cooler).

Semi-opaque; he's not completely transparent, but he's also not solid, and you can vaguely make out the shape of his various parts through the blue - he's just not completely clear like, say, a windshield, and it comes off as more of a 'frosted glass's effect, if that makes sense.

I drove 45 min and paid someone $35 for Studio Series Sunstreaker. He is very cool, but not $35 and 1.5 hrs driving cool. What bugs me about the BB cybertronians is that their alt modes are so unrestrained that I feel like they couldve gone nuts with their articulation but theye all super mediocre in that department. Also just got gamer OP and his alt mode looks great with those guys but in robot mode he just bareeeely fits w those guys aestheticly.

Cybertron Legacy Starscream isn't the perfect toy.

Head had no articulation.
The blade armature pops off more than I'd like.
And my copy likes having one of his arms pop off. It's as easy fix but still.
And yeah Hasbro really couldn't be fucked to give his legs some paint. Otherwise I think he's pretty well done in paint.

I think the Legacy Chase prolly has the best adaptation of a post-2007 design's head in general so far; it has a large classically-robotic jaw just like the original.
Overall, his figure all over has the same shaping and proportions as the original design; just with more details and less-simplified vehicle shapes so it can actually transform irl, like the shoulders arent just cylinders with wheels but resemble his design anyway.
Only nitpick I have is that I wish the visor was transparent instead of painted, so that you could see his pupils from behind. The paint definitely looks cool, but imo brings to mind the G1 deceptigoons like the Insecticons and Constructicons a bit much, whereas Chase had a bit more personality I think. But ah well, it's not the end of the world, I still like him lol.

There are tabs on the weapon to plug onto the top of the truck bed in vehicle mode.

Also if you want to you can take the pieces off his arms and plug them into the back of his legs to make them less hollow.

I have that set, ONLY because I was living in Japan at the time, and got them out of the out of the little blind boxes (which also came with like a crappy wafer cookie). Although one of the legs is the white chase variant.
Also got a few of Sixbuild and Sixtrain.
Kinda makes me wish there were more mini combiner teams.

It feels more natural to keep the blades on the forearms than on the shoulders when it comes to feeling like an actual usable weapon.
I still like the look of them on the shoulders when not in use, but this is easily my preferred look for the design now.

Ever eince I got this guy, I cannot put him down. I love this big fucker! He just feels so solid. He lacks the typical intricacy I prefer but he just works so well. I do wish his head and chest claws clipped in with a bit more of a robust system, but wow he really was worth it.

I'm curious, does this "just feels worth it" effect translate to Armada Megs? I may end up start8ng a Megatron collection at some point, given that I have 5 seperate renditions of the character.

His transformation is simple if that's a dealbreaker, but he's solid and chunky with satisfying ratchets. Though he doesn't become "just feels worth it" until you cut out the gate blocking his turret from spinning 360 (easy), and possibly replacing the shoulders with 3D-printed ones that're more poseable if that's your speed.
I always loved Armada Megatron doe, so I'm biased; I love his sculpt. Just hoping his Powerlinx repaint will have his knife as an accessory, or that someone finally models a show-accurate one for printing... then he'd be perfect. As it stands, Armada Megs is shelfwarming a tad, so wait for a sale.

I liked Armada Megs even before I printed out shoulders for him. A lot of people hate him because of shit like the shoulders and weird "Evo" gimmick, but honestly I really like his look. I think he should have definitely come with more stuff, but I don't foresee us getting an update any time soon so this will have to do.

The first film had the best alt mode for Megatron after G1 and it's not even close. Animated's copter comes close, but I cant help but think the gun looks goofy and tacked on to it lel, unlike the cybertronian jet both there and in the first film.
Either way though, both the jet and the helicopter are focused heavily around the cannon; they're effectively just giant flying guns, which G1 Megs himself was very often.

I also bought this guy but I've had the opposite reaction; I actually find him somewhat lacklustre.

I love his dragon mode, but I feel like I could've - and should've - just bought an articulated dragon figure that doesn't transform instead for less, because his robot mode just doesn't do it for me. The solid red color scheme just doesn't do it for me; the bits of purple and gold just disappear into the mass of red when on the shelf.

He's probably the first modern toy I've bought in years I've ended up having regrets about buying.

I have both and I really enjoy them. Armada Megatron isn't as impressive, but that might just be because he's your pretty standard H-tank as opposed to a giant dragon.
His transformation is pretty fun, it's simple enough that you can do in under a minute, but everything tabs in place so nicely in vehicle mode, it's really satisfying.
The shoulders are annoying, but the fact that his horns aren't glued in is more annoying (to me at least) because it takes only a mild nudge and they can become crooked or fall out entirely. But that's probably an easy fix.
Honestly I'd say if you see him and the price doesn't bother you, grab him.

Also the end of the tank barrel can come off, with makes his robot mode a lot cleaner looking when you sling it under his arm, but the detached end doesn't plug in or store anywhere else on him.

If you look at either side of the chest part there are some fairly large tabs once the wheels have been folded in those are supposed to rest in rectangular slots on the inside of the shoulder hinges. Maybe try taking the arms off and making sure the longer downward protruding part of the shoulder hinge is clipped over the tabs on either side of the chest.

they made a comment about a significant retool coming down the pipeline, and there's no way it was cliffjumper cause they said people would have a hard time believing it was the same mold.
The other thing to consider is, for the entirety of legacy, there has only been 1 deluxe that has no repaints or retools (or planned ones) and that's Gears.
They heavily indicated a different head pointblank was coming
Cosmos is even suppossed to get a gobots recolor eventually so it's entirely likely Gears will get one in the same set too.

Which means the odds of sureshot being a 100% stand alone deluxe mold is... low.

Who knows, maybe they'll retool dragstrip or beachcomber into him, but I wouldn't hold out hope.

they're probably ending the line this year and moving on to the next one.
They've got another season coming out this year (they greenlit it well over a year ago, before they knew how the rest of season 1, the toy sales, or the dvd sales would do) but that seems to be the end of it. There's been virtually no leaks about upcoming earthspark toys, and while I'm sure they'll announce some in a month or two at the next big event, it's not looking good for them.

Of course, Cyberverse managed to reverse course by bringing out some quality deluxe class figures, but that was to more closely match the WFC trilogy figures being released at the same time, as they were blast-effect compatible.

also, Soundwave in Earthspark is a bomber jet, not a car, so that's not gonna work.

Since I got back from the US I've had a fair few TFs coming in, most of them red, oddly enough.
Cliffjumper is ridiculously fun for a toy with no thigh swivels. The robot mode is cute and charming, the transformation is simple but effective and the vehicle mode is just perfect. Love this mold.
Blades is a fantastic figure. I'm not entirely sure what the "proper" config is for the tail halves, they take up less space folded down but they look cooler left up (and a lot of art has them that way with Evac, his mold-donor). Either way, great toy, very satisfying to manipulate with how solid and clicky he is.
Buzzclaw is a bit fiddly and tricky to balance in robot mode but he's so cool I can't be mad at him. The mantis-lizard-thing is a hell of a look.
Detour/Dead End was one I had as a kid so getting him back was very pleasant. Nice little toy, too. I love how goblinesque his proportions are.
Oh yeah, and he came with those two Legends Constructicons, which are surprisingly good considering they're ROTF Legends class figures.
Blades is objectively the best figure but Cliffjumper has absolutely stolen my heart and might be my favourite of the bunch.

Officially according to the instructions, it's both. Tailfins down is default, tailfins up is "attack mode".

Considering the company that did the animation for that show straight up went under this month, it'd be easy for them to blame Rooster Teeth (as well they should)
But the other difficulty Earthspark had was the plots were supposed to be quasi-jumping off points from Rise of the Beast, but when that got delayed, it didn't make sense anymore

Earthspark's family unit borrowed several elements from the ROTB plot :
bilingual, POC moustached man who was born on an island (very different islands though)
Black female character paired with above character
One's ex military, one's a history expert (genders reversed in earthspark)
The human-transformer bond is front and center in both
Arcee and Wheeljack both get episodes in the first 10 highlighting them (they're both in RotB)

I mean, it's normal, they've done this sort of thing since TFAnimated. It's a weird attempt at synergy.

The head sculpt looks terrible and far too large. Also I actually mostly like the mold. But still can’t fathom why they didn’t make the side door back kibble able to fold all the way up and lay flat on the back and mimic the silhouette of his original kibble. Plus back the rear bumper have a secure way to tab onto the peg on the shoulder to replicate the shoulder kibble too - you can kinda do it, but it’s obvious it’s not intentional based on the poor fit.

they didn't really care about specifics, they just wanted as many non-whites as possible, and they made that very, very clear.

I know the movies want to focus on the humans, but damn, it’s like a TMNT movie only focusing on April and CaseybKones with the occasional ninja turtle thrown in.
We never get the bots perspective on things or an arc. Or real team dynamics outside of the 2007 film.

Then there’s the constant retcons and worst of the all, every movie is a race to a MacGuffin device (except Bumblebee).

Yeah he honestly looks better than I thought he would, but the lack of paint apps or outlines on the flames or painted on lights kind of sucks. I'll probably get him to go with Omega. I liked Shadowstriker, but she is a mess of stress marks now. The clearances and transformation on this mold is weird. Like, some of the transformation seems aware of the complexities of tolerances and clearance, but the other half make it feel like you're trying to break the figure just to get it tucked in correctly. Hope some of it is fixed with this mold.

I liked shadowstriker well enough, throygh the power of no expectation. I do fully admit the mold kinda sucks ass though. Mine luckily seems stress-mark free, but one of the knee tabs did snap off right out of the box. It affects literally nothing so I wasn't too bothered
It's nice to see speedbreaker get a dedicated mold, but i hope if they plan on doing the other car robo brothers, that they at least suck less than him

The only kid-appeal character they got remotely right as a modern toy was the Core Tasmania Kid, and supposedly the upcoming GF Hot Shot (who was designed entirely by Takara). Was Tasmania Kid primarily by a Japanese designer too? I can't tell since TFWiki cites both Hasbro and Takara dudes for his toy.
Anyway, do you think Hasbro is doing this on purpose? Because so many of these have no reason to be as bad as they are, they're just arbitrarily compromised for no reason or were extremely lazy.

Guys we just had Cybertron Metroplex in 2023. And we just had the G1 Omega Supreme in 2019 and The Ark in 2021.

They obviously paired the “Lambros” together intentionally, but the disparities between the two are astronomical. Sideswipe feels ick af. These gamer series are pretty obviously shelved designs from clear back when the game was new. Thats the only explanation for how outdated everything about them. Even the plastic feels like old FOC figures when they cheaped out on everything. Also, aesthetically, Sideswipe just barely barely fits with the BB cybertronians. Barely. In car mode. Scavenger is awesome. he's got such a cool design, and it's close enough that you can assume he's the same guy as the ol' G1 Constructicon stuffed into a Vehicon shell.
Actually, pretty much all of the Beast Machines guys are good toys that hold up today - at least, the ones that didn't compromise their transformations to look like show characters. Toy version Tankor, for example, looks nothing like his show version, but is infinitely more fun than the more accurate versions that came out later.

Nonethess that's one of the lesser problems of the new Silverbolt. The whole revamped transformation is what hurts it the most when they only needed to get rid of the wing gimmick so they can move into the back and better articulation. But they changed everything just so it can have a waist joint and it really isn't worth it because they missed what made the transformation good.

Also the beast mode sculp is ass compared to the original.

Probably will happen by default at some point since the last three triple-changers were all leader class. Not sure about Nominus since Broadside's aircraft mode is consistently awful to the point it probably should have been omitted to begin with so not suited for someone whose identity is being an aircraft to not look like other Primes.

Honestly... toyhax will kinda save this figure. The alt mode shape seeing the edit isn't as horrendous as it initally felt. The lack of a grill is the worst part still.

I personally hope there is an upgrade kit that adds front bumper that can attach to the should peg in robot mode and then side door replacements that have an additonal hinge that allow the panels to fold flat against the wheels sticking straight up behind him

Not an awful figure... but definitely compromised and lacking compared to other released in the last 5 years of generations.

I know the IDW1 design was. And was from the Titans Return Astrotrain retool.

Obviously the new Earth design for Astrotrain from Siege won’t work for that anymore. Though they got a Galaxy Shuttle retool from it.

However the IDW2 Sentinel Prime design would look good from a future leader class Octane toy.

There are dozens of guys who were members of various incarnations of Mayhem Attack Squad so that isn't much of feat.
Being the team leader of a group, could easily just have "Predators" as a whole capsule line, although it might be lopsided unless they introduce a second plane with compatibility with Skyquake.
