Recollecting toys from your childhood.

Do any of you find yourself buying toys that you once had a long time ago but lost? I just got this Go-bot in the mail that I use to have back in the late 80's and is appropriately called Creepy!!!FACT!!!

A few. Also gotten toys I never got in my childhood that I always wanted. Ever since I was 14 there was a rubber/foam plush Allosaurus the long-defunct Discocery Channel Store was selling around the time Walking with Dinosaurs (late-90s documentary) had aired. I was unable to scrounge up the $35 in time to buy it before the stores stopped carrying it, but I scoured eBay for twenty years whenever I had a moment to find one being resold. Then at age 34 I found one for under $100 in pretty good condition (especially considering that the rubber skin of the dino is latex, and that stuff rots after +20yrs). Bought that fucker within a minute of it popping up in a serendipitous search one afternoon. This was my grail, and it was worth every cent to finally have and behold.

Fast-forward four years and I know own two more. Life is good.

Instead of buying them I have a photo collection. I'm always remembering shitty toys I had as a kid and all the negative memories of mom and dad fighting while I tried to tune them out. I try to appreciate all the modern stuff now because I can buy it all and my parents are far away now and can't hurt my anymore.

I didnt get alot of new stuff as a kid, my parents worked hard and stuff like toys and games were a luxury if you will. Im not saying we had nothing, but i am saying we rode our bikes alot and played the woods. So i buy the stuff i wanted then only its now.

The great thing about today, are the toys from my kid days are now getting modern versions. And I've just been buying those instead of the OG. The exception so far is Playmates TMNT since they reissue the vintage figures every other year. I just picked up the mutating turtles that I had as a kid but have long lost to yard sales.

Yeah a bunch of old video game toys I paid out the ass for and the Armada Transformers. I never got to keep anything because my mom worried I would develop hoarding.

I lucked out in that I still have basically all the toys from childhood, but there were a few that were stolen or broken by other kids. One of the biggest sore points was Transmetal Megatron who got stomped on and shattered, so he was always one I wanted to replace, but given that the western release of the figure suffers from horrible QC issues where the plastic is shit and the engineering stresses said plastic (commonly thought to be GPS, but it's apparently not), and the Japanese version that doesn't have those issues goes for stupid money on the secondary market, it became something of a far off grail that I thought I'd never obtain, only for my best mate to buy me one for my birthday this year.
