The fact is, all of those properties did excellent jobs of establishing everything, the heroes, villains, play patterns, etc, that they wound up getting rebooted and refreshed because they worked. Street Sharks, which I haven't watched in ages and don't know how well it holds up, had the downside of being part of the rash of clones for TMNT where suddenly everyone tried to pump out an animal-based action series (like Biker Mice of Mars, Samurai Cats, etc, etc, etc)
But, being sharks, of course the toys are going to look cool. You have to be the most incompetent company on earth to fuck up shark toys.
