well yeah the oddest part here is that sparks seem to be.. SOMEWHAT corporeal, and at least visible and tangible. as if someone tried to build a soul using technology. Maybe it's just for the audience and/or for dramatic effect. i mean human souls aren't visible either but ghosts in tv shows always are.

This is the best answer.

The body isn't really all there is to a transformer, and it varies between continuity. Sometimes they are the spark, sometimes the brain unit, sometimes the personality component, sometimes just some data on a floppy disk.

Sometimes some combination of those. The important part is that I don't think there are really any case where a cybertronian is entirely bound by their body, outside severe lethal trauma, the body's can get smashed to shit and ten minutes later the character is fine.

In those images? No.
Starscream's immortality has had multiple explanations, or lack thereof.
- In the G1 cartoon he was a ghost just because.
- In Beast Wars he's described as having a "mutant, indestructible spark."
- Armada Starscream died, and Energon Starscream was just a recreation.
- In Animated his spark was extinguished, but he was brought back to life with an Allspark fragment. He became lifeless again only when the shard was removed from his body.
- In Cyberverse he just survived several near-deaths until he actually died.

He probably would have stopped being dead later. One of the writers mentioned Starscream was originally going to appear during the Windblade scavenger hunt, but was cut for time.

It's just the Chocolate Frog from Harry Potter in a fancy tin. I thought it was several small ones individually wrapped, but it's just one big non-holo chocolate frog.

If we had TF x Harry Potter I would want chocolate Spittor (we really should have gotten a core/deluxe Diver to go with the other BWII guys), a hippogriff (probably from silverbolt unfortunately), or a Hogwarts Express (Astrotrain???).

It was gradual. T30 Springer isn't leader big, but towers over current voyagers and old Mega equivalents were a lot bigger than him. Speaking of, Springer and Sandstorm are still great toys, but the proportions are weird to look at. It's like Naoko Takeuchi designed them.

I was never all that in love with them. The fun:price or fun:bullshit ratios were never satisfying, even in the glory days of MP-10 to MP-30 (or whatever line you want to draw). A few standouts exist but the line as a whole didn't do much for me even back then. From Megatron onward I was completely detached.

Missing Link is a lot more appealing to me, but the pricing is a serious headache.

That didn't mean I jumped to mainline, though, I'll buy a few but most are less respectable than 24 year old Car Robots toys. I appreciated the movies having nice alt-modes but hate most of the robots modes.
That said I bought MP-Prowl 8 years ago and haven't felt the need to ever buy another Prowl since them, same with most other MPs.

I only have a few, MP-01, MP-03 (cartoon redeco), and Optimus Primal, and while I do really like them, they are strictly display pieces, partly because of the cost, and also because they are not toys. Which is why I never really got into MPs, because while I am careful with all my toys, I really appreciate the reassuring feeling of "this is a thing to play with." That feeling is actually what got me back into collecting in general, I had gone through that "I only buy adult collectables, not toys" phase and one day I went into a toy store when hanging out with a friend and saw Generations Thrust, which for some reason just called to me, so I bought him and I still remember just opening him up and playing around with him while sitting on my buddy's couch. That feeling of just playing with a fun toy is why I collect Transformers, the needlessly complex transformations that takes 20 minutes and is all panels and fiddly bits, on a display piece that costs sometimes hundreds of dollars and sometimes has shitty QC, it just doesn't appeal to me.
Besides now that Studio Series has really gotten into a rhythm and produces figures that look basically just as good for way cheaper, I don't see the need for MPs anymore. Maybe the best thing for them would be to pivot toward an improved Alternators/Binaltech style for anons like >>10984677 which is definitely an under-served group of the community.

I just wish the Hasbro version didn't make the then-standard changes for no good reason. My first vehicle TFs were Car Robots/RiD. I got a Car Robots Speedbreaker before RiD even came out thanks to a collectors shop. I'm the silent minority that is RiD kids. I hold that level as the ideal for realistic vehicle TFs. I want clear windows and headlights and nice paint. I seem to remember similar things happening around TF07 and AoE where they used other line's toys redecoed as the movie characters to fill gaps and as exclusives. Only example I can think of right now is this Optimus, though.

my only gripe is that his 'hands' are way too long because they are feet. it's kinda awkward. If the hips were on a slider, they could maybe jut back, giving him shoulder pylons made of frog thigh, and an arm made of frog shin and foot.

Basically the heartburn meds shut everything off, even the hormones that keep your lenses clear, so I had to get cataract surgery (it was only discovered that a hormone was involved there after I'd already set up the surgery lol). i'm prematurely old now. like end of life old. I'm sure I'll get a miraculous recovery, but i've given up on medical science for the time being.

Female transformers don't sell not because they're female, but because their designs are shit. Female TFs don't look like robots formed from vehicles, they look like human women made of metal and that's fucking BORING. Eh, no I wouldn't say entirely made up, but I'll grant that it definitely took creative liberties yeah, and that a female-from-concept one peobably would've too - but even still, there would've been at least some obligation to be true to the design language of that original toy, and all those square shapes and mechanical bits therein.
And I dunno, SS86 Ratchet seems alright to me, though I'll admit I don't own him or Ironhide; I'm waiting for them to do his Marvel deco. The core figs look cute, too! And they're cores, so that's extra impressive.

So when Missing Link eventually gets around to doing Decepticons which ones do you think they'll start with? Megatron is a given nut Soundwave would be fairly easy to do (the original G1 toy had pretty good articulation, lacking only knees). Starscream would probably the hardest, due to all the partsforming and the stubby arms, though if they do Starscream right, then they can do multiple repaints for Skywarp, Thundercracker and the coneheads.

I could easily see a Missing Link Starscream stow proper sized arms in the toy somewhere, and fix the jet mode so it isn't such a garbage piece of shit and instead the jet mode that the diaclone designers always wanted it to be.

What a deal for $27

Yes commander class figures are bigger but there is something when a figure is just so boxy.

I don't have the original so I can't compared. The only thing I have noticed is the lack of pull out ramp on the chest.

As for the issue of the figure I guess I am a bit lucky tampons are mostly straight. Could be better but I expected worst. The chrome is not flashy as they are rather scratched- I really wish they would just paint those silver like the face.

There are some lack of tension issues with the tabs, I don't know if they have those on the original like the left shoulder keep popping off. And you have to a bit care with the knee pad and the back tower when handling them. But I think overall it is a solid KO

I am just wondering just how die TT have lost sunce the 80's for this many KO figures to be bale made for the next almost 40 years

The seige micromasters are nice ngl I have all but a few but I’m always going back to my love of the g1 and the occasional yuusha ones I can find

But I guess the difference is that Takara invested in three series with new molds/remolds (along with redecoes), and they all did so poorly they decided to take a break. I ordered Brawn and ordered Magnificus along with it since I've been curious about the SS86 Perceptor mold. I might grab Ironhide at some point in the future. I really wish ROTB didn't go backwards on the character designs; the Bumblebee stuff hit a good sweet spot.

Magnificus/Perceptor is an awful toy. The legs are some of the worst I've ever handled on a transformer. Magnificus at least has a head that didn't add unnecessary greebles or has a bad facesculpt, but nothing can save those legs.

The hips in general are loose, then the joint for the tank and telescope mode are entirely friction based with nothing to lock it in robot mode.

The TR mold has a similar problem. It doesn't ruin that figure for me so I doubt it will for SS86, but I don't know why it's an issue across two different molds.

Really I'm just a mark for Perceptor and I wish the Microchange side of things were more pronounced in modern lines in general. I'd love a toy that took a fresh perspective on the microscope transformation, for example, or a new character that turned into a Dobsonian telescope or whatever.

The thighs are fine, the knees are tall and cover them a bit which makes them look smaller than they actually are. If you used this mod to make his torso taller and the thigh add ons that exist for the mold, it would look awful.

I got 3, Magnificus, then two Perceptors when I got a lot with plenty of figures for cheap (most used for minor customs, but two figures more than made up for the cost).

One Perceptor was boxed, the other opened. All had loose hips, some worse than others, same for the joint on the thighs.

The UT updates are exactly what're keeping me around. The Animated ones suck too much for me to bother, while after Armada SS & HS, basically all the UT dudes have been at least on par with the originals if not better at least in some ways (or well, they were... until Vector Prime, RIP). But if you have a huge UT collection already, I can understand not having much reason to "upgrade", yeah.
As it is, I mean... I like Rescue Bots and hope Heatwave's good, I grab the occasional G1 minibot they put out cus they're fun, I like most comic figures they do as long as it isn't a crappy remold (Nova Prime...), and SS86 is solid enough I guess. But they're barely doing any Beast Wars anymore sadly, it seems they've given up on TFP beyond ill-fitting retools, Car Robots and SSGE WFC suck, and I'm probably gonna be stuck waiting til 2026 at the earliest for them to focus on Bayverse again. There's just barely anything good being done that appeals to my tastes; BBM/RotB and now TFOne aren't my thing at all. This blows, man..

I also watch (mostly listen) to TJ in my car to/from work. His daily content knocks off a good 15-20 minutes of my ride. I just like to listen to a good ramble, and he's got some interesting takes and USUALLY good opinions of toys and shows.

I chuckle every time he tries to shill Trannyspark though. I don't care if it's objectively the best piece of TF media ever made (it's definitely not, but hypothetically even if it was), I'm not watching it because of that enby shit.

this is fine I guess. swapping heads was a bitch because they were glued on and the backs were molded differently. I suck at painting so I might just gundam marker the crest orange and call it a day. Fuck Hasbro for not making orange Tigatron a straight repaint.

plus you'll wanna repaint the face to a darker, non-metallic teal.
just give in to painting, buy a few primary colors, learn to mix, it'll be fine. I recommend 'model color' brand. goes on smooth and clean like gasoline.

Also gotta paint the inner shins and paw-knees cream white. actually now that I think of it, it might make more sense to repaint his face white to match the shins. this isn't QUITE a straight repaint in the sense of color-to-color consistency. normally the thigh-fronts match the arms, while the shins match the face and shoulders.
