>>11003715>what problemThe supposed problem that an armoring up Magnus has to be heavily compromised in some way in order to work. You see, detractors of the concept would have you believe that making such a Magnus will inevitably lead to something like the Siege/ER mold, which was lacking in many respects. But figures like
>>11003498 and
>>11003585 prove that isn't the case. The main reason Seige Magnus sucks is because, in order for him to look properly large when armored up, they gave the core figure a huge boxy torso. Not only does it not look great in robot mode when not wearing the armor, but it also affected the vehicle mode by leaving no space to store the arms, meaning they just hang off the back.
That problem would have been easily solved if they had gone the route of the G1 toy. Make the core Magnus transform like traditional G1 Prime, with his arms forming a portion of the cab in vehicle mode. This avoids the boxy torso issue. Then, when he armors up, you transform the arms to fill out the cab while leaving the legs untouched. This gives the full boxy base to attach the torso portion of the armor to, while the still trailer doesn't need to supply its own set of legs. You can still have the trailer parts-form, that's not a huge deal as long as it looks good in both modes. Or, if you want to get fancy, you can have the trailer attach to Magnus in one piece, and then split apart to allow proper articulation. That would make him no more a partsformer than, say, Armada Overload.
