Could someone help me identify this Goku figure? I see the brand is Yutaka but all the images I see online have the eyes, hair, and boots colored in.

I thought that but, its not uncommon for Japanese toys from the 90s and before to be unpainted, that seems to be something they enjoyed doing. Still it is unusual that all of the other pictures of this figure I find are not THIS unpainted.

Would that be possible to do so cleanly? I don't see any remnants of paint or any kind of marks on those areas.

Would say it’s either a prototype or a bootleg made using the same mold as the legs on OP’s aren’t articulated unless the normal Yukata Goku. If it was bootlegged it’s a weird choice to keep the elbows jointed but not the legs.

It doesn't seem like a prototype because there's no reason to mold the elbow parts in black. If anything, it may be a test shot where they were just checking the tooling and didn't care what color plastic went in the molds.

Looks like they used the black elbows and didn’t paint the crotch of the regular version of the toy you can find for some reason. Later toys they’ve made are coloured correctly.
Honestly I’m leaning towards bootleg of an already crappy figure, due to the legs. It’d be easy to take apart and recreate, but it’s baffling why they’d use the same elbow joint colour. Can see that they’d be too lazy to paint it.

OP's figure is either one where they forgot to paint anything, or they are cutting even more corners and doing the absolute bare minimum to cost cut.

Yep. It’s probably a figure meant to be trashed by little kids in the playground so the manufacturers did not give a fuck. I think they painted/coloured all the other figures they did later on properly, but this particular one just looked like shit.

How so? You can see the knee joints in OP's picture, unless you're referring to another set of joints that're supposed to be there.

Don't know what paints these figures use but usually if you dip it in the appropriate chemical/alcohol they it should all come clean off.
