It's based on not a direct copy. The white ankle wrist wraps and plasteron shaping, shoulder straps, and extra large muscles are very similar to the NM designs. Even the frayed masks look like the NM Raph mask along with his kneepads. JoyToy may have just went with a more traditional ninja turtles look and ditched the doorags.

Texturing wasn't needed and there's no ankle pivot. Mattel laid out how to update figures with their MOTU origins. Playmates just needed to copy it but instead let AI do the job but the AI learned using already existing AI generated shit.

This is interesting for a couple reasons, mostly that these didn't go to Target and are being sold through e-tailers. Wonder if they're not considered "toon based" versions?

as a non tmnt collector (had a donatello back in kindergarten early 90s) these actually look great and i am probably going to get all 4. do these look good and promising to tmnt collectors such as yourselves? joytoy seem to pack a lot of paint and details into those 1/18 and the articulation is usually good as well these would be pretty expensive at 1/12.

I sold most of my tmnt stuff and currently collect feodal japan-inspired figures only. That Leo from D20 studio, everything from FurayPlanet and some customs for human characters. Have problem with Shredder though. Can't decide either to make him dragonborn in shredder-like armor or longhaired bishounen with pet dragon.

Not 1/18 unless you like your Turtles to be the equivalent of 6'3" tall. These are closer to 1/15-1/16 for scale(5'3"-5'6" approx). Good to go with Playmates or He-Man.

I don't think so. The wiki has no info on him being anywhere but the toyline. I don't think he even got a cameo in Shredder's Revenge DLC, and that had such obscure pulls as Antrax and Halfcourt.

I just saw them for the first time today at Target, East Coast. They're fun but I don't need them, I try to stay away from superfluous purchases like these since space is limited anymore and I have to be more conscious on what I collect. But I do think they look nice together and make for a great display piece, it just doesn't fit in line with my primarily movie/original toys collection.

They canceled Shredder due to how unpopular they were. I got all four of min at Barnes and Nobles for $25 each, that's how poor sales were for them. So very unlikely. Just get the KO from aliexpress. Watch some youtube review and see if it's worth your money.

I recently bought the LoyalSubjects April, Krang, and Rocksteady. They are pretty nice looking. I especially like Krang and April. They look really great, but the articulation leaves a little to be desired. Also loose joints on occasions. Overall pretty happy with them though.

I've done this before. Teams like this will ruin you over time if you're a longtime collector. How many times do you think I've bought all four of them? Probably like a dozen at least. It's just a pointless money sink at some point, especially if they're not offering unique sculpts for each Turtle.

Sometimes I'll just buy one to sample the joints and shit, and feel like ok, that's cool, I don't need another 3 virtually identical figures. I already have a ton of completed teams, I don't feel weird or bad about leaving some incomplete.

I pick my battles with collecting tmnt, there's just so much to get invested in(I already collect 4 other things). For me, if it's cheap and easy to get, then it's good. I'm also a completeist, so I'm tortured by the reissues because they look cool enough to buy, but I know they're usually inauthentic in some way, plus they're not rereleasing the whole line, so if you are a completeist, it'll get expensive because other people are going to be seeking the exact same items because they grabbed the reissues too, 2k3 was the first series where I had the buying power to just get every figure, vehicle, and playset on a whim and my parents sold them all while I was away so when I see the turtles, I get nostalgic, but also dread because I know there's 40 other figures to get and they're all on ebay for collector prices, that's why I get behind Neca Archie, MM, and BST AXN, because they have cool sculpts, are generally cheap and easy to get, and are also expanding, which means nothing coming out in the future is a diminished rerelease

so anyways, if these come out and suck, then I have a complete set for less than $60, if it's the start of new line, I'll be there at the start

The Sai were packed next to the smiling head Turtle in the 4 pack too. Picrel.
Now look at >>11064577 and you can clearly see that Mikey has the big shit eating grin, which is what the head was based off.

Well this looks better than Party Wallop. Kinda disappointed it's so much lighter than the main line but that makes sense since you need more plastic for hinge-city transformations. Gonna see how much of a nightmare this is to transform.

Looks like Target is giving up exclusives rights to the toon tmnt line. I think this previous haulathon really put things into prespective. The punk 4 packs are still on shelves. Frogs, Mukmans, Metalheads, the goon 2 packs, all clogging up the shelves. The VHS turtles were also around for a while instead of selling out the first week. There not many more characters for the toon line anyway. The red sky turtles can just be head accesories. Tempestra and Shrieka are the only last figs I really want.

On one hand, I like it because it seems like something Playmates would have done back in the day. And it isn't anything necessary to a collection like a main cast character or vehicle, just something fun and quirky they slapped together for the show. That's what a good con exclusive should be. But the price kills this thing dead on sight. And it's kind of baffling that there actually was a Party Van repaint/rework in the original line that they didn't choose to make instead that may have had a higher chance of selling. It would have been such an easy slam dunk that the only reason I can imagine they didn't is because the Playmates rumors are true.

This is actually kind of a fun idea and it's a decent idea for a repaint (which toylines need to do to pay off their molds). The main problem here is Super 7's pricing model, it gums up the works entirely. At a lower price this would make total sense, I'd say good job making a fun variant, and we'd all move on. Have these Treasure Monster figures been mentioned before? I saw them on a youtube channel and they're kinda TMNT adjacent (something about the Shadowline stoyline taking place the same time as TMNT but in Chicago?). Supposedly they're planning eventually on doing the Mega monster Army Ant or something like it. The turtles look next mutation awful but the villains look cool (though pricey).

Yeah and there's a second turtle in the line alongside a human that fits more in line with Next Mutation than classic TMNT.

It's too bad all these third party figures are upwards of $100. Maybe with the Toxic Crusaders thing trying to come back we'll see cheaper figures of that scale and style from other 3rd parties. I don't see Playmates going hard on the remastered figures past the core four but maybe SDCC will prove me wrong.
